Chapter 96

Beth was on her way back to her room with her baby in arm when she notice someone standing in her way.

It was Kara blocking her way.

She tried by passing her but Kara blocked her again causing her to g***n in annoyance.

“What do you want now? Why are you blocking my path?” Beth asked trying to be as calm as possible.

“What do I want you say? Are you really that naïve or just plain stupid” Kara retorted and Beth was shocked.

“You know? I can tell you are having a really bad day and probably looking for who to vent to but I’m sorry to announce it to you but you are talking to the wrong person, Kara. So leave me alone and get out of my way” Beth said, trying to control herself.

Her baby was very much asleep and doesn’t have the strength to wait around and waste time with someone like Kara.

“Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?”

Beth looked at her with confusion written all over her face. What in the world is she up about right now?

“What are you talking about? What should I be ashamed of what?”

“I see pretense all over you Beth, you are a thief and a manipulator”

Beth couldn’t take it anymore, she has to speak for herself and not allow herself to get ridiculed by Kara’s insinuations.

She is not weak and she needs to prove that.

“That’s enough Kara!”

“You still have the guts to call my name with that filthy mouth of yours? Well, I don’t blame you one bit. If Asher had done what was required of him, you won’t be here gallivanting around like you own this place when you are nothing but filth”

“I know of all your evil plans and I won’t allow any of them to be successful. You charmed Asher and took him away from me. You made him turn his back on us, his people and also made him disobey his elders, you witch. Since you stepped your foot into our pack, all you have done is cause havoc, disunity, and commotion. Enough is enough! And I will be the one to end you” Kara ranted angrily, taking closer steps towards her.

Beth clutched her baby so tightly against her chest. She felt corned and at the same time threaten yet she felt powerless against the angry woman before her so she swallowed all the insults and smiled.

“I can see that you’re hurt by the fact that all of your schemes and accusations haven’t exactly worked in your favor. And no, Asher was never yours so instead of crying over spilled milk, why don’t you console yourself by hooking up with another guy who will gladly lick your wound and leave me the hell alone” Beth replied simply and Kara only got angrier at her boldness.

She raised her right hand to slap her across the face but someone held her hand midway.

“Don’t you dare lay your filthy hands on her because if you do, you would have only yourself to blame.” Alex growled angrily at her, still holding on to her wrist in a tight grip.

Beth only looked up at the huge man standing beside her with wide eyes. She just couldn’t comprehend just how fast he had appeared at that point or was he there all alone? She wondered with a sigh.

“Let go of me, Alex” Kara demanded

His grip on her only tightened a bit more before he released her hand and she stumbled backward with a wince.

“You have no shame coming to harassed her with a baby in arm. What’s wrong with you?” Alex asked and Kara snorted at him.

“You are the one who is without shame. Following her around and swinging to every one of her whim like Asher did. But don’t say I didn’t warn you though, if you don’t guard yourself against Beth, you would be running with your tails in between your legs. I can_”

“That’s enough, Kara. Go on and leave right now”

Alex growled at her before she could complete her statement.

“I wasn’t expecting less. And as for you Beth, you haven’t seen the last of me yet. Filthy whore” Kara remarked before leaving.

Beth sighed with a broken heart, everyone hates her, and nobody wants her here, that’s much she is aware. It would have hurt even more if she even wanted to be there but she doesn’t.

“Are you okay? Hope she didn’t touch you?” Alex asked checking her out and Beth shook her head.

“I’m fine” She said looking at the floor.

“I don’t want that face Beth and I also don’t want you to take any of her words to the heart. Let’s go in”

He collected Sam from her hands, he was sleeping peacefully.

They got to her room and he placed Sam gently in his cot.

Beth fell onto the bed with a lot of thoughts on her mind while Alex sat on the chair.

There was a long silence between the duo.

“I am not supposed to be here,” Beth broke the Silence.

Alex looked confused at her statement.

“What do you mean?”

“Isn’t it obvious that, I don’t belong here” Beth cried out.

“You do belong here Beth, you bore a child for Alpha Asher and he wants you to stay by his side and be there for his child. I want you here, Izzy and Eva want you and that’s a crowd if you ask me.” Alex said trying to make her feel better.

“What are you even saying, Alex? My life is at stake and that of my child too, it seems as if Asher is never coming back. The elders want my head, Kara hates me so much as well as many others in the pack . Can’t you understand what am saying, Alex?”

“I do and don’t you ever say Asher isn’t going to come back, he is surely going to come back for you. I promised to protect you so why are you getting yourself worked up over nothing?”

“Am just tired of everything Alex. I’ve had it up to the apex, please let me go with my baby.” Beth pleaded with tears.

Alex stood up and went close to Beth, he began rubbing her back soothingly while she rested her head on his shoulders.

” I know you’re still pained by Kara’s words. That’s the reason why you’re unsettled and thinking like this. Just calm down okay and wipe your tears. Believe that everything would be fine soon”

Beth calmed down and wiped her tears, she stylishly disengaged herself from him and forced a smile.

She can’t believe that she cried on his shoulders, how embarrassing!

“Thanks for always being by my side and for the encouragement. I don’t know what I would have done if you were not here”

Alex smiled brightly as his poor heart raced.

“It’s fine. I would leave you to have a good rest, if you need someone to talk to, I am always available. Don’t just think about anything, I want you to be happy and hale. Take care of yourself and Sam.” Alex said and left.

Once Alex was gone, she tried to focus her thought on other things but couldn’t. It was hard to think straight with everyone trying to hurt and cause you pain. One would think she is supposed to develop a thick skin to all their accusations by now but she was still as fragile as ever.

She truly wish she could get her child and run but that too was not in her reach. It was too dangerous and would never risk it without proper guidance.

Alex had promised to help her escape if Asher returned and refuses to let her leave and that was a promise she was holding on to. It was her last bit of hoping and she could only hold on to it.

A knock came from the door disrupting Beth from her deep thoughts as her head snapped toward the door.

“Who is there?”

“Beth, it’s me, Izzy”

“Come in!”

Izzy surfaced.

The latter rushed towards Beth checking if she was hurt in any part of her body.

“I heard that witch tried to harm you. Are you hurt? Your face is red. Have you been crying?” Izzy asked non-stop.

She really cares about Beth a lot.

“How do you expect me to answer your numerous questions, Izzy?”

“Answer all”

“But wait, the news about my fight with Kara has gone that viral?”

“Yes! Everyone was talking about it in the kitchen”

“I wasn’t hurt though she tried to slap me but Alex intervened. I am fine now.” Beth said faking a smile.

“You’re really strong Beth. Am sorry you have to pass through all these”

“I will surely pull through the temptations”

“Can I hug you?” Izzy asked childishly and Beth chuckled.

“Of course, you can”

Izzy then hugged Beth affectionately.

“Everything is going to be fine,” Izzy assured and Beth smiled widely happy at the encouragement.
