Chapter 95

The next day came sooner than expected and it was another glorious morning.

Beth’s eyelids decided to part ways as they flutter open. She let out a yawn and sat up on the bed. Her eyes went to her baby that lay beside her sleeping peacefully. She smiled at the little infant before placing a gentle k**s to his cheek affectionately.

Her eyes beheld so much affection for him. Each day that passes she falls deeper in love with him. So much so that it hurt her to think she couldn’t get them both out of there.

Elizabeth dream of a better life for her son. A life that was free of all the hate and pain that came with the being in a pack as such as that.

“I cherish you a lot, Sam. I promise not to let anyone hurt you. Not even your father when he comes back” She thought silently stroking his hair.

Even though she hates to admit it, she still can’t help but think about Asher. There was something about having him around that she misses. Was it his sheer dominance or the fact that she can easily piss him off without even trying.

Somehow, her feelings for him grew daily and she fell deeper for him.

Truly, she does miss him and can only hope for things to go well for him out there so he could return soon.

“I miss your dad and I guess you miss him too. I have a strong belief he would be back for us and we will both be free from death. I_”

A knock came from the door and it disrupted her from thinking further as her head snapped towards the door.

“Who is it?”

“It is me, Alex.”

She sighed and wrapped her robe around her properly before allowing him to come in.

“Come in.”

The door creaked open and Alex came into view smiling broadly.

She still could not believe that Alex was in love with her. How she never saw it in his gesture was really beyond her.

But at that point, she could really pick point the weird stares and the affectionate look in his eyes anytime he speaks with her.

She should have noticed all these while but, how would she when she had a plain mind for him? She only saw him as a brother and a true friend. she never knew he saw her otherwise not until yesterday’s confession.

Alex cleared his throat abruptly when he noticed how Beth was staring at him with an unknown expression. Was she having a change in heart? Or Maybe she doesn’t feel free with his presence anymore.

Maybe he was just too forward with his words and should have kept his stupid feeling to him self. Alex contemplated in his mind as he walked in further and stood before her.

“Good morning Beth” Alex greeted, faking a smile.

“Good morning Alex, how was your night?” Beth asked with a smile of her own.

“It was fine and yours?”

He was lying though, he couldn’t sleep throughout the last night after he left her in the middle of the night. He was busy thinking about Beth. He was a bit scared of Beth changing her behavior towards him or might even stop being friends with him, hence his reason for showing up so early.

Little Sam’s cry interrupted Beth’s reply. He was awake.

Alex moved closer and Beth noticed how he felt uncomfortable.

“Is something wrong?” Beth asked looking at him with confusion.

Alex knew he has been caught but before he could answered, her son stirred awake and start to whimper and volunteered to carry baby Sam.

Beth was hesitant as she reluctantly gave him her baby.

“How are you doing little champ? Hope you slept well?, you hungry?”

Alex asked caressing baby Sam’s cheek and the cute thing make a suckling sound and he chuckled at his response.

He began playing with him and Beth watched in admiration wishing it was Asher that had little Sam in his arms at that moment.

While Alex continued to play with Sam, she walked into the bathroom to quickly freshen up and get ready.

Beth returned to find Alex and found him playing with him still.

“Okay boys, it’s time to give Sammy a bath and besides, I am pretty sure you have a lot of things to attend to,” Beth said as she motion with her hands for him to hand her son over.

“You’re right but I would come later in the day to pick you up.”

Beth raised an eyebrow getting confused at his last statement.

“Are we going somewhere?” She asked.

“Yes, I will take you to the garden so you can breathe in the fresh air and also have a good time.”

Beth chuckled slightly.

“Okay, we look forward to it.”

“Always welcome. I would take my leave.” Alex said and began to walk out the door.

He turned and found Beth playing with Sam, he was happy that her attitude towards him hasn’t change

He opened the door and was surprised to find Izzy at the door and he arched a brow.

“Have you been eavesdropping?” Alex asked looking at her closely.

“No, I can’t…do…that” Izzy stuttered unable to look him in the eyes. Her heart kept slamming in her chest wildly.

Alex said no words further and left.

Izzy held her chest and sighed.

She walked in fully closing the door behind her.

“Good morning Beth.” Izzy greeted curtly.

“Good morning, Izzy. I saw how you were fidgeting at Alex’s sight, you should really tell him how you feel”

“I don’t know how to express how I feel. Each time he looks at me, I find my heart beating at a faster rate. I am in love with him but he won’t look at me for once, I think he dislikes me.” Izzy concluded sadly.

“He doesn’t dislike you. Maybe he is just too busy thinking about the welfare of his pack since Asher is not around” Beth said, trying to make her feel better.

She already countered the idea of telling Izzy about his confession to her last night. It would only make her friend feel bad so, she kept it all to herself.

If she only knew the number of times she talked to Alex on her behalf.

“Anyways, I came to check how you and the baby Sam are faring and also clean him up,” Izzy said, taking the baby from Beth’s arms.

“Thank you Izzy”

“He looks so cute this morning. What am even saying? He had always been looking cute. He is the carbon copy of his father, Alpha Asher.” Izzy said smiling at baby Sam.

At the mention of Asher, Beth resumed her thinking about him. She hopes he is fine wherever he is. She keeps getting worried as the day passes but she has this feeling that he would be back.

“I would take the baby for a clean-up and feed him while you eat and do whatever”

“Okay but please be careful and call me if you need my help” Beth pleaded and Izzy gave her a reassuring smile before walking into the bathroom

Alex took Beth to the garden and she took baby Sam with her so he can get some air as well.

The heartwarming scent that greeted them was soothing. It was beautiful and adorable, very much filled with flowers and sunlight.

“It’s so beautiful out here. I love the flowers,” Beth stated truthfully.

She loved the garden already and wished she has such a garden in her home. To her, a garden is a comfortable place and the best place to be if a person is in a sad mood.

“Can we come here always?”

“Sure but not without my consent,” Alex said, sounding serious.

“Okay,” Beth replied, her fears coming all of a sudden.

She knew the reason why he sounded like that. Because of the enemies that her life, they might show up anytime or even try to hurt she and her baby again and he won’t be around to protect her.

“I do come here always if I want to clear my head” Alex started a conversation as they walked around the garden.

Beth kept mute as she followed him closely. Her baby had fallen asleep and she doesn’t want to wake him up.

He came to an abrupt stop and then turned to face her.

“I know you’re still angry with me Beth. Am sincerely sorry for yesterday’s behavior, I should have controlled my feelings.” Alex apologized as he barely met her eyes.

Beth smiled and shook her head at him.

“I have told you that it’s fine and am not angry. We can’t control our hearts and who we feel it for. Fate made it this way. I hope we still remain, friends, as we had always been”

“Thanks for accepting my apology.” Alex said with a smile and she nodded.

“You’re welcome.”

“I want to talk about Izzy,” Beth said, and Alex’s expression changed.

If it’s about him considering Izzy, he is not ready to change his mind. He can’t force himself to like the lady he doesn’t feel a thing for.

“Do you think maybe, you can consider her?. She is a good lady and she likes you a lot, you can just be her friend. I’m sure you both will get along” Beth said staring intently at Alex.

He doesn’t even understand why she is bent on making them be together, he is still nursing the pain of rejection and here she is talking about loving another.

His heart is still with Beth and doesn’t even know when he would regain it back.

Can’t she understand that he still loves her and that burying his feelings for her is the hardest decision he ever took?

Yeah, he apologized but he still felt something huge for her and was hoping she would consider his feelings and love him back.

His phone suddenly rang and he picked up immediately.

The call wasn’t on speaker so Beth was unable to understand his conversation with the caller.

The call ended and he turned to face her with utmost seriousness.

“I need to attend to something at the pack. Go back to your room and be safe.”

“Hope there is no problem?” Beth asked with a worried face, and Alex gave her a reassuring smile.

“ Nothing I can’t handle”
