Taken By The Demon Alpha -
Chapter 81
Asher continued to watch the exchange between mother and son with hitched breath. That moment was something he never imagined. The Alpha couldn’t believe how much fate had played with him, up until that point.
The children he had always wanted was with his late wife. Lot of them and they were really going to have them. Not once did he ever imagined it would be with someone else, much less a Lincoln bloodline.
And now he does and it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. The way Elizabeth held him protectively against her chest, just seemed like the baby was the only thing that mattered to her and he could totally understand it.
Even before she delivered, she had told him times without number that she would protect the child with everything she had and so far, Asher had seen the look of determination and devotion in her eyes which could only be found in a mother that truly loves her child.
Elizabeth was a fierce woman with an air of energy around her that was easily noticeable amongst people she was comfortable with. There was really nothing she wouldn’t do to see others happy even at the expense of her own happiness. As Asher thought about all this, he realized how f****d he really was. How could he ever have thought about hurting someone like Elizabeth.
The door cracked open and Alex walked in with fresh flowers.
“Alex” She chirped happily as he walked over and stood beside her bed.
“Sorry I couldn’t come sooner. How are you doing?”
She smiled. “I’m fine”
“Here you go, congratulations” He said offering her the flowers.
She grabbed them and placed them across the cupboard before looking at Asher whose expression had gone from happy to blank pretty quickly.
“Can I see him?”
She nodded. “He is so cute”
Alex glanced at Asher briefly before peering at the baby, his own expression wild with shock. The baby was fast asleep at this point. Alex only caress his cheek with his thump and he squirmed in response.
“Did you see that? He recognizes his uncle already” Alex said and Elizabeth chuckled.
Asher walked over and stood beside them both and Alex peered up to look at his face.
“Have you thought for a name for him yet?”
“Not yet” Elizabeth answered before looking at Asher.
“No but I’m thinking we can call him, Lucian”
“Lucian?” Alex and Elizabeth asked almost at the same time.
“Yes, what’s wrong with the name?”
Elizabeth shrugged before looking back at her little bundle of joy.
“Do you have a better name idea for him?” Asher asked staring at her expectantly.
“My mother’s name was Samantha and I thought he was going to be a girl so I could call her Sam, and now, well I don’t know”
Asher seem to be in a deep thought as he listened to her quietly.
“We can still call him Sam if you want”
Her eyes went wide as she stared back at him.
“Really?”
“Yes, really” Asher murmured under his breath and Alex tapped him over the shoulder.
“Little Sam it is then” Alex confirmed and Elizabeth smiled even more.
Just about then, Eva walked in and gave both men a weak glare.
“Elizabeth need to rest boys and I don’t see her doing so with the two of you here” She queried.
Alex shifted under his gaze and Asher pretended not to have heard her.
“Eva, please, can I have a vase for my flowers?”
“Of course, dear. I will have someone bring it for you”
While Eva removed the sleeping baby from her arm, Asher helped her to relax back on the bed before tucking the pillow under her to be more comfortable.
“I will see you tomorrow, Elizabeth” Alex gave her a smile before turning to walk out the door
“Thank you so much” She called right back before looking back at Asher who still lingers across her bed.
“I’m just going to be outside so you can rest but if you need me to carry the baby or anything, just call me okay?”
Beth answered with a nod.
“Are you hungry?”
“Yes. I feel hungry and sleepy too”
“I will get soup for you and anything else you want to eat”
“Soup is fine” She said with a smile.
Asher looked resistant to leave as he reached out a hand to brush her cheek slightly before he leaned in and kissed her on the forehead, his lips against her forehead sending shivers down her body as she let out a gasp.
Asher stepped away from her, “I’ll see you later” he said with a smiled and she replied with a nod.
Just before he left, Asher gave her one last glance. His heart swelling with untold emotions, and for the first time since his wife died and Beth came into his life, he wished and wanted her to become something more than the hunter’s daughter because truly, she was much more than that.
She is now Elizabeth, mother of his son Sam.
**
Elizabeth dozed after Asher left only to wake up with her room filled with more flowers than she had seen in the last eight months of her life. Why did they come from, she wandered as her eyes dart around the room curiously before settling on Asher’s tall figure by her side.
“What’s all these?” She asked quietly and he smiled.
“There are flowers. Since you liked the ones Alex brought, I thought maybe you might appreciate more of it”
“of course I do but is this not too much?”
Asher took quick glance himself and realized he had just converted the little room to a flower shot but he doesn’t think it’s too much. In fact, he saw how beautiful the atmosphere had become.
No, I don’t think so. I brought soup and now that you are awake you should eat. Eva said you need your strength back” He said and grasped her shoulder, pulling her into a seating position before hurrying to grab the food tray and placed before her.
She smiled at him, “Thank you, Asher”
“Go on and eat, thank me later”
Her eyes narrowed, “Did you make it yourself?”
“Maybe yes, maybe no…just eat”
Elizabeth shook her head with a knowing smile and began to eat. Two more spoon and Sam start to whimper in his cradle.
“Don’t worry. I will get him. Just go on and eat”
“Okay”
Elizabeth continued to eat while Asher took hold of the baby and began to cradle him in his arms and soon enough he was back to sleeping again. Once she had finished eating, Asher sat by her side late into the night, not willing himself to leave them, not even for a second.
