Taken By The Demon Alpha -
Chapter 82
While Beth and the baby stayed back at the clinic, Asher went back home more troubled than ever before. He wasn’t troubled about the delivery but about the way forward. He couldn’t deny the fact that, now that she is delivered, it would be a matter of time before the council of elders get wind of the news as well.
Asher had no doubt in his mind that they will call him for a meeting soon and that was one thing he was dreading. He has no intention to go neither does he intend to carry out their plans.
There is no way he is going to separate Elizabeth from their son. How he ever told he could do it before was still beyond him. Rage and his quest for revenge had mostly blinded him but now, not anymore.
Elizabeth didn’t deserve for any single hair on her body to be touched and if anyone dares try to get even an inch close to hurting them, then he’d show them exactly why he is the demon Alpha.
As he made the short journey back to his quarters, his mind was filled with torment and distress. He needed to figure out a way to solve the issue with the elders without spilling any of their b***d. Asher knew, they has to be a way and he was going to figure it out.
Asher hadn’t been this troubled in a very long while ever since his wife’s death. He didn’t want anything to happen to Elizabeth. If something were to happen to her, he had no doubt that his child would be affected too and that’s something he wasn’t about to let happen.
“Asher! Hey, wait up!” a familiar voice called at him from a distance, halting him as well.
It was no other person but Alex who was walking towards him in a haste. There was a look in his eyes that Asher couldn’t quite understand. He had a feeling that his Beta wanted to know the outcome of Elizabeth’s situation. He has been itching to get it out all day and somehow he had avoided the topic until now. Asher inhaled deeply and expelled slowly through his mouth as Alex finally caught up with him.
They turned and began to walked the rest of the journey home. They stayed in comfortable silence for a while before Alex cleared his throat slightly, giving Asher a sideways glance.
They got to the house soon, heading towards the balcony that overlooked the whole lands and rich green forests faraway. This was where they could talk without any interruptions and this was what they needed because Alex had a feeling that a lot would be said.
“You already know what I’m about to ask, don’t you?” Alex asked and Asher nodded, still staring into the distance.
“So are you going to carry on the execution or you are going to let her go”
Asher pushed himself off the balcony railing and then turned to face Alex fully, both men almost standing at the same nose level.
“What do you think I’m going to do Alex? Should I killed her or let her go” Asher threw the question right back at his Beta, just watching for his reaction.
Alex jaw clenched tightly as he stood with a blank expression.
“You really don’t want to hear my opinion on this matter, Asher. You are the Alpha not me. I’m sure you will do whatever you feel is right” Alex said finally before lowering his head in deep respect to his Alpha.
Asher let out a sigh before tapping him over the shoulder and Alex peered up to stare at his face.
“I know how you feel, Alex. I feel it too but the truth be told, I can’t let her go” Asher said simply and Alex frown deepen but Asher wasn’t done talking.
“And I’m not going through with the execution either” He deadpan and Alex eyes widen.
“Yes, Alex. I’m not going to kill Elizabeth”
Alex’s eyes narrowed, “And when did you decide this?”
Asher shrugged, “I have been thinking about it for a while now and after she brought forth Sam, it just kind of make sense to me. She is to be protected and cared for and not let even fly perch on her skin ever again”
Alex had a huge smile plastered on his face as he stared at his best friend/ Alpha as though he has suddenly gone crazy in the head. A good crazy in the head.
Before Asher could blink twice, Alex had jumped on him in a tight hug.
“Whoa, easy there tiger”
“I knew you would change your mind. I just knew it” Alex chirp happily still holding him tight.
Alex finally let go when he saw the look on his face, even though Asher had decided not to kill Elizabeth, he could still see he was troubled by something.
“What’s up, man, why are you not happy?” Alex asked.
Asher sighed, burying his hands into his pocket. There were different thoughts going through his head as he thought about the circumstances surrounding Elizabeth and the execution.
“You are worried about the elders aren’t you?”
Asher nodded.
“You haven’t told them your decision have you?”
“Not yet and neither can they find out Elizabeth has put to birth either. I need to find a way around this before they know”
Alex thought about this for a while and he knew Asher was right. If the council of elders heard so much about her delivery they would be upon her faster than she could say her name.
“What do you want to do now? Hide her away until when?” Alex questioned.
“I honestly don’t know but they can’t find out just yet” Asher said with a bit of warning.
Alex felt bad for him. He could see how disturb his Alpha looked and as long as his intention is to protect Elizabeth and the baby, he would do same.
“I will support you and whatever you decide to do to keep her safe” Alex said firmly and Asher smiled.
“I know, Alex. You are the only one I can count on right now. No one else. Not even my brother Jax can help. He’d rather cut off his fingers than raise a finger to help her”
Asher sighed, There was nothing he hadn’t thought about, anything at all that could help him weather down this storm that had suddenly come upon him. Before she delivered, Asher’s mind was already set on what to do but now that the baby was here and the realization of what might happen hit him with a whole new energy.
Now, he was face to face with the issue about Elizabeth’s execution. It was urgent and very worrying.
“Can you just let her go? Like go back to the city?” Alex suggested.
Asher chuckled, thinking about his suggestion.
“City is not safe for her. I mean, have you forgotten how easy it was for us to track and capture her in their f*****g street? If we can get it done then the elders can have someone do it and you and I know she is weak and defenseless”
The situation appeared more bleaker than Alex thought about it earlier on. What Asher said now made so much sense to him and there was no telling what they would do if the council of elders found her gone. He had no doubt that they would send someone to track her down and bring her back.
Asher won’t be on the safe side either. They’d plan his execution as well without saying so much fanfare.
“Well, you are right. Considering how much invested they are in executing her, I highly doubt they would forget something like this except if a miracle occurs. There’s really no way we are escaping any of this which just makes the situation worse” Alex expressed sadly.
A strong gust of wind flew through the balcony at that moment, sending some of the flowers flying through the air. Asher closed his eyes for a bit, letting the wind caress his face. For a moment, he disconnected himself from all that was happening around him and just focused on himself and the wind alone
For a moment, he wish to forgot all about the problems he was currently facing and focused on reveling in the wind that comfort him.
Both men were left in utter silence before Alex spoke up again.
“I’m here for you man, I want you to always know that. I’m not going to leave you to face this alone. I will do everything within my power to keep Elizabeth and your son safe. That is a promise Asher” Alex said.
Asher didn’t know what to say at that moment. He was really grateful to Alex for what he had said, there was nothing more than to hear reassuring words from someone as close to you as Alex was to him. Even if he thought he had taken a liking to her before now, he was glad he had, now he can as well keep her safe just like he would.
“Thank you man, I really appreciate this”.
Alex agreed with a curt nod.
They stayed in comfortable silence for a while, each with their own thoughts. Asher’s was on what the situation was at hand while Alex’s was on how well he could help keep Elizabeth safe.
