Beth’s POV.

‘’What don’t you understand that I need to go out and do things for myself’’ Beth asked.

No matter how hard she tries, she still can not understand why he is hell bent on keeping her locked up. She totally understand she is his prisoner but still, She didn’t want to stay holed up in the room without doing anything. At least not any longer.

Asher was a difficult person, that much she knew but this was just borderline unreasonable on his part.

‘’I don’t want you going out Elizabeth-’’

‘’Beth, it’s Beth. How many times do i have to tell you that?’’ she snapped.

Asher was trying all he could to reign down on his temper but the more he tried, the more she riled him up. He didn’t know what to do to make her understand what he was trying to say. She failed to realize that danger abounds all around and because of her, he was starting to distrust her people which is something that has never happened before.

If the council of elders so much as got her, she’ll be doomed. She also failed to realize that the main reason she was still alive even up till this very moment was the cover he had around her.

‘’What are you so afraid of Asher? Tell me,’’ Beth said, her eyes narrowing back at him.

‘’You really want to know?’’ he asked.

‘’Yes, yes i do.’’ she said, sounding desperate.

‘’Well for starters, even though I don’t like you, I still don’t want you to die, because of my unborn child.’’ he added quickly.

Beth chuckled, staring at the large man standing before her. Everyday, he seemed to bring out new ways to amuse her. The fact that he just mentioned the child to be his is the first she had ever heard.

‘’Oh so you’re afraid of me dying?’’ Beth chuckled.

‘’Why are you being unreasonable?’’ Asher seethed.

‘’It is you Asher who is being unreasonable. What do you expect me to do in this room while you’re gone each day? Oh, you just want me to sit here, doing nothing while I wait for his highness to come back home. Well, sorry to burst your bubble mister that is not going to happen.’’ Beth sneered back, meaning every word.

Asher was pacing about now, trying to reign down on his rising anger even more. Never in his life had a woman irritated him so f*****g much and yet find that he couldn’t do anything about it.

Elizabeth was definitely testing his patience so fast it was running thin. There was little to nothing he could hold on to.

‘’Then I have no other choice but to lock you up. If you choose to disobey me then you will be forced to stay here. I can’t go out there, wondering if you’re dead or alive. Staying in this room will ease the tension i feel about your safety but you rather mess it all up’’ Asher bark, his anger evident.

‘’Why do you suddenly care? Why are you so concerned about my safety? The last time I checked, you weren’t concerned about me or anything I do. What’s the sudden change of mind huh?’’ Beth asked.

Asher opened his mouth but no word made it out. Arguing with her tends to make him weak and he was already feeling the signs already. Elizabeth was just being bullheaded but he was prepared to have the final say on this issue whether she likes it or not. He was still the Alpha, not the other way round.

‘’I don’t think you know this but you are not the only one looking out for me. Alex ensures i’m safe whenever you’re gone so there is no point for you to act this way.’’ Beth said.

‘’What? You think I don’t know about that? There’s only little my Beta can do. Your safety is my responsibility, I hope you know that and stop making things unbearable for me’’ Asher snap back in annoyance.

‘’Well i’m still not staying indoors if that’s what you’re aiming at.’’ Beth said with a frown.

The food she brought was already cold and she knew he wouldn’t touch it until he drove his point home. For a minute, she wondered what her life would be like if she wasn’t his prisoner. She wondered whether he would treat her the same way or differently.

Elizabeth had seen first hand the way he treated other people out there with love and kindness but yet her own case was different and this was because he has refused to see her as anything else except what she is. The hunter’s daughter.

It hurt to be subjected to this cruel fate from him. She was getting tired of it but she was determined not to be weighed down by it.

Asher on the other hand had never seen anyone as stubborn as she was. She never agreed to anything he said. Sometimes, he had a feeling that she was doing it on purpose but when he saw the fire in her eyes, he knew that she wasn’t.

He hates to admit it but regardless of what she choose to believe, he wouldn’t want anything to happen to her.

He hates to admit it but regardless of what she choose to believe, he wouldn’t want anything to happen to her.

In fact, No woman had ever intrigued him as much as she did. He knew he had to find a way around this issue if he wanted peace.

‘’Alright, Elizabeth, Let’s strike a deal.’’ he said when she least expected.

Beth stared at him with suspicious eyes. She could never trust anything he wanted her to agree on. How would she be so sure that he wouldn’t go back on the deal, making her look like a fool for even agreeing with it in the first place.

‘’What kind of deal?’’ Beth asked.

‘’You want to be allowed to walk about freely correct?”

“yeah, I do”

“well then, if that is what you want then I will assign one of the guard to go with you’’ Asher said.

‘’But i have Alex, what’s the difference.’’

She was getting more and more confused by his words. Sometimes, she didn’t understand the things he said. Alex had been doing a good job of protecting her for as long as she could remember.

‘’Alex might not really have the time henceforth. We have other matters to attend to’’

‘’Oh i see.’’ Beth muttered.

She stared at him, wondering what they were doing. If it had to do with the safety of the pack then she doubt her protest would have any meaning at this point. It was best to keep quiet.

‘’Can’t I just go out by myself? Why must I go with a guard? I will just be out in the field and Izzy can stay with me too. I bet she knows the safe routes around here?’’ Beth stressed.

At this point, Asher has had about enough with her and looks like he is about to explode at any second.

Reaching over, he grabbed her by the arm before sneering back at her, ‘’Don’t f*****g test my patience, Elizabeth. Have you forgotten you’re pregnant?’’ he asked.

‘’Yes, no, I mean, I haven’t forgotten” she managed to breathe out.

‘’Then you are going to do as I say without risking yourself or that pregnancy, understood?”

“yes” She answered simply and he gave a nod before releasing her arm and then stride out the door without another glance at her direction.
