Chapter 36

Asher’s POV.

Sweaty, tired and relieved to be free from the kids, Asher returned to his room. All he wanted to do at that moment was to have a cold shower and just fall into bed, forgetting everything and everyone around him.

To say his day was busy would be an understatement, it was packed. The surprise at seeing Beth on the fields with his Beta was still on his mind. He never expected to see her and what’s worse, she saw him playing with the kids.

He could vividly remember the look of surprise on her face which quickly turned into a look of tenderness before it was replaced by her usual look of boredom. Now she would think him to be weak. He grumbled, walking along the hallways leading to his room.

It was pretty late for anyone to still be up by this time. Asher glanced at the wall clock ticking at a far corner of the hallway. It was almost ten p.m which was considered late in the camp. Lights out were by nine p.m which was an hour ago.

Asher got to his room soon, standing still at the entrance. He didn’t know what mood Beth would be in, which was something he hated not knowing. Sometimes she could be moody, other times she could be having those dreams of hers that he recently termed as tempting. Asher knew it was as a result of her pregnancy and the different hormones he had heard about from Eva.

He sighed, thinking about how his life had spiraled to this point. He doesn’t like the idea of her being pregnant one bit but he also knew it was something he has to come to terms with, whether he likes it or not. The moon goddess make sure of that when he left him without a choice.

He doesn’t feel any thing for her but yet, there was this drawback he had about her sometimes. He couldn’t explain it but he couldn’t deny the fact that it was there.

He sighed yet again before pushing the door open and went in. Within him, he had secretly made up his mind to just deal with any of the moods she might be having at the moment.

Upon entering the room, he found the bed rather empty. Beth was nowhere in sight. He looked around, trying to get a hint of where she might be but he couldn’t get anything.

‘’Beth?’’ Asher called out.

There was no response. He called two more times before he just gave up. He reasoned that she was probably still with Alex.

Asher discarded his clothes, heading towards the bathroom. He was covered with sweat and grime. Asides that, he could still taste the dull taste of mud in his mouth. Those kids had truly dealt with him but yet, he was proud to have them as his friends. Someday, they’d make very good warriors in the pack. He was certain with pride swelling in his chest.

One had particularly targeted him with a big ball of mud that fell flat on his face. That was the moment Beth had locked eyes with him. Oddly enough, Asher wasn’t embarrassed by it. In fact, he was quite glad that she got to witness how cheerful and carefree he was and not a total stuck up as she might think him to be.

Asher pushed the bathroom door open, freezing in place when he saw who was in it. Beth, fully naked stood underneath the shower head as droplets of water cascaded down her body. She hadn’t seen him yet and Asher took a minute to marvel at how sexy she looked even with a growing bump.

He stepped closer but that proved to be a fatal mistake as his feet met with the bathtub in a loud bang. Startled by the sound, Beth turned around and that’s when she saw the Alpha, standing there with his mouth agape and even more, naked.

‘’What?’’ she yelp.

The s****l tension between them was palpable now. At that point, Asher wanted nothing more than to wrap his arms around those narrow waist of her and pulled her into his arms. She looked absolutely stunning under the bath light.

Her long raven black hair was silky wet. His finger twitched to run it through them while he took her mouth in a fiery k**s until she is left begging for more.

Beth on the other hand couldn’t quite believe that this was happening. Asher was standing just a few meters away from her stark naked. She could feel her core twitching with tension radiating off her and she knew he could feel her arousal too.

The look in his eyes was one of pure l**t coupled with a hint of frustration that left him feeling miserable. Something was holding him back but for the life of her, she couldn’t quite think about what that could be.

They stared at each other for what seemed like eternity before Asher cleared his throat as he finally looked away.

‘’I’m sorry for barging in.’’ he croaked.

His voice and everything about him was still radiating l**t which wasn’t going to leave anytime soon. Slowly, Beth grabbed the towel she had hung on the rack, wrapping it around her body as she stepped out of the bath area.

She was done anyway before Asher barged in which just made her glad. She didn’t want to think about what could have happened if she was still in the middle of bathing. She wrapped her still wet hair in a loose bun with some of it still falling around her neck.

For the first time in a very long while, Asher had never seen anyone he wanted so bad to devour without feeling anything. Every little thing she did ignited a l**t so strong in him he had a hard time keeping his emotions in check.

‘’It’s fine. I was done anyway.’’ Beth said with a small smile on her face, igniting him even more.

She walked towards him. His breath hitched as he watched her come closer by the second. He had no idea about what she wanted to do but one thing was sure. If she so much as touched him, he would take her right there and then, pregnant or not.

‘’I assume you want to have a shower too. I’ll excuse you.’’ she said.

Asher muttered something but she couldn’t quite understand what he said. She exited the bathroom, heading towards her closet to grab something and put on.

Asher’s arrival had surprised her no doubt and now that she was alone for the first time since he barged in, she shook a little. What she had just experienced was a close one and she knew it only took the greatest willpower from him not to get intimate with her.

‘’That man.’’ Beth muttered with the shake of her head.

Back at the bathroom, Asher was left with an impressive hard on which of course, he blamed Beth for it. Why did her body have to be so sexy even when she was pregnant? Why did she have to torment him so much to almost lose his sanity?

These were the questions swirling through his mind as he turned on the shower. Icy cold water fell on him and Asher welcomed it with open arms. That was the only remedy he could think of that could help him get rid of his prominent e******n.

It was now confirmed to him that Beth was a potential seducer, one he had to be wary of if he wanted to protect his sanity. There was absolutely nothing she wouldn’t do. The more he thought about her, the more his e******n grew.

It seemed like the image he saw of her in the bathroom a few minutes ago was permanently ingrained in his mind. Try as he may, he couldn’t get the image of her naked body away from his mind.

‘’What are you doing to me Beth?’’ he muttered in frustration.

The shower was at full blast now as more of the icy cold water cascaded down his body. Asher g*****d, willing his mind to forget about her. His thoughts took him to the council of elders and what they planned to do to her as soon as she delivered. That was the trick, Asher returned back to himself.

He heaved a sigh of relief as he reduced the flow of the shower. The council of elders were difficult people, people who never listened to the voice of reasoning. Asher knew it was only a matter of time before he is summoned once again. He needed to come up with better ways to convince them other than her being pregnant.

Finally, he switched off the shower, stepping out of the bathroom with water still dripping off his body. He was glad his e******n had died down. He couldn’t have gone to Kara and Beth was surely not an option.

As he shrugged on his pajamas, Asher hoped that he would find a solution soon because the full moon is just weeks ago and the s****l pull could get even more frustrating especially with Beth just a breath away from him.
