Chapter 124

She was half way up the stairs when she met Rosa, she looked worried and almost panicking as well.

“What is wrong, Rosa. You look like the roof is on fire?” Beth said with a chuckle and then hiccup a few times, her head start to spin.

“ I think something is wrong with your son,” Rosa ported and Beth’s eyes widened at the mention of Sam. The dizziness and the spinning of head suddenly gone in an instant.

” What is wrong with my baby?” Beth asked sharply

“I think he is running a high temperature, you should come check on him.”

Beth immediately rushed up the remaining stairs and barged into her room, almost tripping over as she rushed to Sam’s cot and met him burning up.

She felt his temperature with her hands and almost cried out.

“When did this start?”

“I think after I had a warm bath for him, his temperature just kept increasing. I think we should take him to the hospital to know what’s wrong before it worsens.” Rosa suggested and Beth inhaled sharply.

“There is no hospital that is around the neighborhood and it’s too late to go to a farther hospital,” Beth said.

“Then what do we do?”

“Just go to bed and rest okay? I will take care of him,”

“But miss? What if his condition is even worst than we know, is it not better to just take him to the hospital? I mean, James can take you”

Beth thought about her suggestion back decided against her. She knew her son was not a normal human kids and taking him to a hospital might put him in more danger and she was not about to risk any of it.

“Just go to bed, it’s an order,” Beth said and she quickly obeyed. Gave a slight bow before hurrying out the room

Beth carried Sam in her arms and stared at him worriedly.

“Please don’t get sick now, please my baby,” Beth pleaded, hugging him tightly to herself.

Sam suddenly began crying loudly and Beth tried to pet him but he kept crying even more.

Suddenly, the door was pushed open and Rosa rushed in and walked to where she stood. Her eyes narrowing in concern.

“Can’t you see he is getting worse? You should do something quickly about this,” Rosa said as she felt his temperature again.

“I thought I asked you to stay in your room?”

“But I can’t just lay comfortably while I hear him cry, I am also worried,”

Beth sighed deeply. Rosa is even more stubborn than Izzy. Seem, Asher always manages to put her with people who would do right by her always.

“So what do you think I do? We can’t take him to the hospital,”

“I think I have a suggestion, maybe I should get a bowl of water and a clean towel and try to keep his temperature normal?” Rosa suggested.

“Do you think that will work?”

“Let’s try it out first,”

“Okay”

She quickly rushed to get the bowl and the towel and hurried back while Beth lay her son back on the bed just as carefully. . She soaked the towel in the bowl of cold water and squeezed the water out. She then placed it on his forehead.

“Don’t you think the water is too cold for him?” Beth said, facing Rosa who was hovering over mother and son on the bed.

“No, it will cool down his temperature till tomorrow when we will be able to take him to the hospital.”

Sam stopped crying eventually as his temperature came down.

“It worked! His temperature came down already,” Beth said happily and she gave the bowl and towel to Rosa for disposal.

“Really? Thank God, I am relieved now,”.

Beth carried her son in her arms and rested his head on her shoulders.

He wasn’t sleeping yet but she could tell he was close already.

She began patting his back slowly as she moved around the room.

” I am glad you’re better now, you don’t know how confused and scared I was when you were running at a high temperature and crying loudly. Please be strong dearie, I love you so much.” Beth said affectionately and poured k****s on his face.

Beth kept patting Sam’s back slowly till he fell asleep. She decided to have him sleep by her side that night, she needs to watch him closely.

She placed him on her bed and laid beside him gently.

She pulled the duvet to cover the both of them very well and began stroking his hair.

“You would be fine darling, I will always make sure you’re fine dear. I think I have to go back to where you belong Sam. I don’t think I can do this alone, I can’t do this without your dad. We should really go back right?” Beth asked no one in particular as she let out a long sigh.

“Even if I go back, what if Asher doesn’t accept me back? All of it would have been for nothing.” Beth thought sadly.

She stared at her cute son and kissed his cheeks. She loves him so much and can’t bear it if anything happens to him.

“I am doing this because of you, we are going back home tomorrow. I don’t think I can stay in the city any longer, you also need your father” Beth decided and inhaled a deep breath.

She already knows Asher was in love with her and he just set her free because of how guilty he felt but she doesn’t want that.

She wants him to stand by her and their son, they will possibly make a happy family.

She remembers all the incidents that happened in the pack, how she was treated badly,how the elders wanted her killed, how she was tortured, she couldn’t help but feel sad.

She wiped her tearful face and decided to be strong, she already accepted that she is not human any longer.

“I think the best decision to make is going back to the pack. Maybe that’s where I truly belong, I love Asher very much and I have forgotten every bad thing they did to me. At least, I still have a place I could call home. Life here in the city sulks and I can’t keep up with it any longer,” Beth made up her mind.

°° The next morning *”

“Have you packed all the bags?” Beth said as she walked towards the car with Sam in her arms.

He was pretty better than last night but he still looked pale.

“Yes ma, you still haven’t told me where you’re going with all your bags. Alpha Asher strictly warned me not to allow you to leave or travel anywhere else ” James said and Beth chuckled.

“I am going to a place that you know so you don’t have to bother or worry too much”

Rosa stood beside Beth wearing a sad face.

“Are you going to come back?”

“No! I am not going to come back, the house is all yours.” Beth said and both Rosa and Paul stared at Beth with surprised looks.

“What do you mean by that, miss? Where are you going? I don’t own the house so I can’t take it,” Rosa refused and Beth sighed.

“I am going back to where I came from so just take the house as a reward for being nice to me,”

“What?!” She exclaimed and Beth nodded before turning to James.

“Take me back to Asher” Beth commanded and Paul looked at her with indifference.

When it seem like James is not going to heed to her command, she quickly covered the distance between them, her eyes narrowing into slit as she stared at him in the face.

“It’s very obvious that your loyalty lies with your Alpha and you won’t do what I ordered you to do. But there is something else you should know, if you don’t take me back this instant, I promise I will kill myself and my son. I mean, can you imagine what Asher would do to you by then? hmm?” Beth threatened even though she never meant her words. It was the only way to get exactly what she wanted.

“You can’t d_” Beth interrupted him immediately.

“_Yes I can do that and more if it means proving to you how badly I need to get back to Asher” Beth snapped and James sighed, his shoulders slouching in defeat.

“Okay fine! I will take you back to Asher but if it’s goes bad, be sure to let him know you had a knife to my throat ?”

Beth smiled lightly.

James rolled his eyes in frustration and was about to get into the car but Rosa’s question stopped him.

“Will you never come back too?”

“I don’t know,” James answered plainly, he got into the car as well as Beth and drove off immediately.

The cool breeze blew through Beth’s air and the latter couldn’t help but feel refreshed and alive once more knowing she was going back to the place she would find joy and peace. She hopes she is welcome back.

“We are finally going back Sam! You’re going to see your papa” Beth chirped happily and hugged him to herself.
