Chapter 122
Back in the city.
It’s has been a week since Beth returned to the city. Life has been fun living in the house Asher had gotten for her and her son. She has a new help called Rosa, an elderly woman who was the house keeper before her arrival. Rosa is in her late forties.
The driver that brought her back to the city also lived in the servant quarters under Asher’s order and Beth was completely grateful for it during times when she needed to go out but can’t afford to drive herself. Those two were her only companion in the environment.
There was absolutely no need for working because Asher had taken care of everything. Anything money could afford, she can get with the credit card he had handed her as it contained a huge amount of money.
Talking about Asher, he filled her thoughts all day and he has been the reason why she has been having sleepless night lately. She felt really lonely even though she was surrounded with more luxury than she could have thought possible.
Nothing has changed like she expected. She was just suddenly feeling like a stranger in the human world probably because she has been loving among the werewolves and isolated from the city buzz and vibes.
She climbed the stairs down to the sitting room and was surprised to see Rosa still awake in the living room, watching a movie. She was so engrossed in the movie that she never heard Beth’s footsteps as she climbed down the stairs.
Still standing by the stairs, Beth cleared her throat and that seemed to startle her back to reality. She jumped up on her feet immediately as she saw Beth.
“I’m so sorry, Miss. I didn’t see you there” She quickly apologized.
“It’s okay, Rosa. I only came down to grab a bottle of water” Beth said calmly before descending the remaining stairs.
“By the way, Why are you still awake? Are you unable to do so?”
“I’m sorry miss, but there is this particular program I like watching at night. I’m sorry for not asking for your permission first “
“Still at this ‘miss’ of a thing?, you can call me Beth and please feel free in my presence, okay?”.
Rosa nodded, a small smile appearing on her face.
“Go on and watch your program. I go get the water and will be in my room,” Beth said and proceeded to walk towards the kitchen and leaving Rosa to settle back on the sofa.
Beth got to her room and fell back on the bed, her thought wandering back to Asher once more. She wonders if he was awake or sleeping or out running in the wood late in the night like he sometimes do when he is feeling restless about something.
The more she thought of him, the more she yearn for him. The bed feels cold without him even with the heater on. It’s like nothing is the same again. His touch and smell has been forever imprinted in her mind and she can’t seem to take a breath without catching a glimpse of his delicious scent around her.
Who was she even kidding as she has made it a habit to sleep in a T-shirt covered in his scent. Stealing that piece of clothing from his wardrobe at first felt like she was going crazy but now she was grateful it did. It was an antidote to all her craving, an unspoken lullaby that lure her to sleep at night no matter how restless she might feel.
“Damn you, Asher. What have you f*****g done to me,” Beth said to herself and sighed before rolling on her side.
She thought about Izzy and Alex, she wondered if they are finally together now that she is no longer there to be in their way. She really wanted the duo to be together. Alex promised he’d give her a chance and hopefully he would keep his word.
After hours of thinking and reminiscing on sweet memories, she fell asleep with one name hanging by the tip of her tongue._Asher.

Beth got dressed in a simple gown ready to go out. She has been meaning to visit her old apartment but never really got to it but due to boredom, she had decided to go see what has become of her things after she was gone for almost a year.
She knew her rent must have expired.
She carried Sam in her arms and got into the car and instructed the driver about where they were headed and he took off in that direction without questions. it was a few kilometers from the mansion she dwells in.
Surprisingly, she still remembers the location vividly and in less than an hour, the driver came to a halt in front of her old home and she looked out the window, her eyes taking it all in with easy. The house was still the same, maybe older but still the same.
She got down from the car and began to make her way into the building, her driver following closely from behind as though he was her secret bodyguard or something. She got to her door and that was when she remembered she wasn’t with the key.
After being captured by Asher, she lost everything in her possession that very day.
“What if this apartment has been rented by another person?” Beth thought but shrugged it off immediately.
“James?”
“Yes, miss?”
she beckoned on her driver to help her with breaking the lock and he obeyed. She was able to gain entry after the lock was broken and she made her way inside. Beth was surprised to see everything was still in order, just as the same way she left them months ago.
So many of her things were still intact, she was expecting the room to have been rented out because last time she checked, She was even owing the landlord rent’s money before she was captured. She wondered why the landlord still kept her things untouched.
“Or maybe Asher paid the rent?” She thought and then sighed. Of course he did. He probably knew she would be coming back and had to cover his track for sometimes. No wonder no report of a missing person was filed.
She took some of the things she needed and had James convey them into the car before they left almost immediately. She doesn’t want to be seen by the landlord and then get delayed or even start answering numerous questions she doesn’t want to.
Staying in the camp made her feel restricted, with no life and absolutely no where to go and now back in the city, there is no much difference either. Her life was still pretty much about taking care of her son and without having anywhere to go, at least, the only difference is, she had no one here trying to end her life.
“Please stop by a store, I want to get a few things.” Beth said and James nodded positively.
Luckily she came with the credit card. At least, she would still have a lot of fun shopping for some convenience goods.
She wondered how much was in the credit card really. One thing for sure she knows is that the money in the credit card will be enough to take buy her anything she wanted even if she got greedy enough to want to buy the whole damn shop. Asher was that loaded.
The driver stopped the car at the parking lot some minutes later and she decided to leave Sam in his carrier since he was asleep.
“please watch him, I will be quick”
She hurried into the mall and began to pick a few things as she moved from one section to the other with her cart. She picked mostly baby food for Sam and then snacks. Suddenly, she felt a ringing in her ears and looked back to find some man staring at her with dark shades.
At first she thought he was just another customer trying to creep her out so she quickly moved into another section but he seem to be following her and then she knew for sure she was being stalked by some man.
Trying not to panic, she quickly let go of her chart and made to rush towards the exit but collided with a mass of body, halting her in the same spot with a gasp.
Looking up at the stranger, she was startled to find the same man she was trying to escape from, a small smile tugging the corner of his l*p upward.
“Not so fast darling. You are coming with me”
