Chapter 118

“Will Alex be fine?” Beth asked suddenly as she lay beside him late into the night. She was still worried about him and can’t stop thinking about his wellbeing.

Asher let out a sigh but said nothing but from how much his fist was clenched, it was obviously he was thinking about him as well.

“I might have defeated Alex but he is not one to get put down for long. He would surely be fine, Alex is a strong man who has been through worst moment than this so he would surely live.”

“I pray so.” Beth muttered.

Maybe she doesn’t need to bother, Izzy would surely take care of him.

But still, she still needs to see him and apologize but that will be hard to do.

Asher would never allow her to leave his room at this time of the night not to talk more of going to see Alex.

She sighed and forced her eyelids closed so she could sleep.

°° three days later °°

“Why haven’t you gone to see Alex? He is in a bad state and hasn’t said a word since the fight. He has refused to eat and just continue to sit around as if he is dumb.” Izzy said to Beth who was busy playing with Sam in his cot.

Izzy just came to check on her and give her update on Alex current condition.

“Alex is still broken over the fight with Asher and I think what he need is time so he can clear his head and calm down” Beth said thoughtfully.

She has thought about going to Alex and realized it wasn’t a good idea seeing just how bitter he still was. The last thing she wanted was to add to his pain by showing her face to him.

Maybe he even hates her now so she just wants to wait for a short period of time before going to see him and then apologizing.

“Okay if you say so” Izzy replied with a nod.

Beth mind had wandered to other things. She has been expecting Asher to choose to date she would be leaving but surprisingly, he has not. It’s been three days since the fight and he isn’t even saying anything about her leaving.

He has been avoiding the topic altogether. Could it be that he has changed his mind about her leaving and if so, what could have caused it. Everything had been find between them so she doubt it has anything to do with her.

Whatever his reason might be, she has made up her mind to ask him about it.

Izzy later bide her goodbye as she head back to Alex’s room to check on him, she had helped cared for his wounds all these times even though Alex had told her to leave as he didn’t need his pity or anything else she was offering.

She had thought about leaving the Beta to his misery but couldn’t bear to leave him, seeing how much pain he was in already, so she had to talk herself into coming back to see him. He surprisingly agreed for her to treat his wounds and since then she has been doing that daily.

Though, he has never for once appreciated her but she took care of him wholeheartedly.

She arrived at opened his door and pushed it open my went inside. She met him at the same spot she had left him in. He was still seating by the window, and staring into the open space. She wondered the thought going through his mind but knew it would be none other than his defeat at the arena.

Alex was a lucky man nonetheless, not very many had gone against Asher in a fight had lived to tell the tale but here he was with just a few bruise but seem his ego was crushed the most and need more than the bandages she was offering to heal him completely.

She walked inside and closed the door and Alex didn’t flinch or even bothered to turn and checked who had walked towards his room.

“Alex?” She called once but got no reply. She wasn’t disappointed as she wasn’t expecting his response.

He has been like that for the past three days, she would do the talking while he act like he was dumb.

“I just came to check on you and ask if you need anything.” Izzy said and then moved towards the table to inspect the food she had brought in earlier. It was still lying around untouched.

“Come on, Alex! If you don’t want to speak to me or anyone and that’s okay, what I don’t get is why you so refused to eat something for the past three days now. Do you want to die?” Izzy urged and Alex turned to her swiftly.

His lips parted slightly but no word made it out. He just sat there with clenched fist and gave her a cold glare in reply and she already knew what that meant, so she rushed out of the room, closing the door behind her.

If he wanted to seat around and suck then he could go right ahead and do so.

Asher returned back from his pack duties later that night and arrived back to his room. He opened the door and met Beth laughing and playing with Sam in his cot. The latter didn’t even notice Asher already opened the door.

He leaned on the door and watched how Beth played with their son, he couldn’t help but sigh. He is really going to miss her if she finally leaves. He never realized that letting her go would be this hard, he would surely be lonely without her.

He slowly tiptoed to where she sat and tickled her, Beth was startled and turned immediately.

She smiled realizing it was Asher.

“When did you come in?”

“I came in a few minutes ago but you were just too engrossed in playing with Sam. Looks like you didn’t play during your childhood days.” Asher joked falling on the bed and Beth formed a small pout.

“How can you say a thing like that? You’re indirectly insulting me punk!” Beth yelled playfully and Asher laughed loudly.

“It’s not an insult, it’s just the fact.”

“Go away!” Beth replied jokingly and continued playing with her son.

Asher stood up and went to sit beside her.

“What?” Beth asked, avoiding his eyes.

“Are you angry with me?”

“No! I mean, Why would you think that?” Beth replied, her brow raised in confusion.

“Come here,” Asher beckon, pulling her to his chest.

“I was just kidding.” Asher said as he stroked her hair and she smiled, melting into his warmth.

She peered back at his face and noticed he was not really looking happy.

She quickly pulled away from his hold and asked him, “What’s the problem Asher? You don’t look okay”

She could see hesitation in his eyes as he looked at her, making her even the more worried.

“You’re leaving for the city tomorrow.” Asher finally let out Beth gasped.
