Seven Years of Marriage with Jake -
Chapter 21
Book 2- Chapter 12
I took stock of our family assets.
The house was rented. Originally, our marital home was his parents' old small place, with one room cleared out as our wedding room. Because it was too far from the shop, we moved out and rented a place nearby. The nine-year-old second-hand car probably couldn't sell for evententhousand.
We originally had fifteen thousand in savings, which I had scrimped and saved over the years, but hiring the detective cost ten thousand.
The jewelry bought for the wedding would probably fetch less than five thousand if sold.
The fifty thousand my parents gave us for the wedding was all invested in the shop. He never put a penny back, not even for rent or household expenses, which all came from my salary.
I knew nothing about the shop's assets, he never said, and I never asked.
I really want to travel back three years and pry open my brain to see how much water got in to make me think Ethan loved me, ignoring my parents' objections to marry him.
