Seven Years of Marriage with Jake -
Chapter 20
Book 2- Chapter 11
I viciously bit into the hamburger in my hand, staring at Ethan across the dinner table.
Seeing me staring, he casually picked up a chicken leg and put it in my bowl, "Honey, your favorite chicken leg, eat more."
Still with eyes full of tenderness, but now it only seemed nauseating.
"I'm full."
I cleaned up the dishes as usual, and went to work as normal.
During lunch break, I found a private detective.
In the evening, Ethan called as he had for the past few days, saying he wouldn't be coming home.
The shop was busy, I was used to him often staying overnight at the shop, never doubting.
After dinner, I rode my electric scooter directly to the shop, and sure enough, only the young apprentice was there.
"Ma. Madam, why. why are you here?" The young apprentice was very nervous.
I feigned confusion: "Am I not allowed to come? Where's your boss?"
"The boss... the boss..."
Before he could continue making up lies, I took out my phone and called Ethan, calling three times with no answer, the fourth call was rejected.
Ethan sent a WhatsApp message: "Honey, I'm fixing a customer's car, is something wrong?"
The detective also sent me a WhatsApp message, a series of photos.
Ethan going to Mia's house, the two walking hand in hand, feeding each other at a restaurant.
Hah.
I replied to Ethan with two words: "Nothing's wrong".
I replied to the detective with one word: "Continue".
I left under the apprentice's uneasy gaze.
No wonder he hasn't let me come to the shop since last year, saying he was afraid I'd be tired.
I was really stupid.
Because I wasn't interested in cars, I rarely came to there, and listened to his words, never coming again.
I wonder if in others' eyes, the boss's wife has already changed.
