Chapter 1584 Let Her Go
Sally, Byron had heard Athena mention this name once or twice.
"And then?" Byron asked.
Gideon pulled at his hair a few times and said, "She's really beautiful, fair-skinned, with big, watery eyes. We were passionately in love when we were young, but we separated because we were too young." Byron didn't say anything, and Gideon didn't mind.
"Byron, I envy you. After going around in circles, you can still marry the person you love and have children, living happily together as a family." Gideon choked up a bit. "I want that, too." "Why don't you go for it? Is it difficult?" Byron asked.
Gideon looked at him and then smiled. "Now that you've lost your memory, you've become pure. If it were the old you, you would never tell me to go for it. You would analyze the pros and cons." "You can do it now," Byron interjected.
"Based on the current situation, there is no benefit at all... for Sally," Gideon said.
Gideon and Byron were different.
He had always been in a good relationship with his family. If he wanted to marry Sally, he would completely cut off contact with the family. He couldn't do it.
But if they maintained contact, considering his family's prejudices against Sally, she would suffer a lot.
Byron thought for a moment. "Have you asked Sally what she thinks?"
Gideon fell silent for a moment and shook his head. "We... we haven't officially reconciled since we separated when we were young. When you had an accident, my mother had a heated argument with her a while ago."
Gideon's expression became agitated. "It's my mother's fault. But Sally has a fiery temper and shouted at my mother loudly, so I scolded her..."
Byron frowned.
"And then she left and hasn't come back since."
"Well... maybe you should just let her go," Byron tried to phrase it tactfully, but it still came out straightforwardly.
Gideon was slightly stunned and looked at Byron. "Why do I feel like you despise me?"
Byron nodded. "Yes."
Gideon wasn't angry. He smiled speechlessly and said, "Given what you had done, how dare you look down on me? You should thank god Athena forgave you. Otherwise, you would be crying for her right now."
"Although I have lost my memory, there is one thing I am certain of. If she gets into a conflict with someone, no matter who is right or wrong, I will firmly defend her," Byron said confidently. Gideon was slightly taken aback.
Indeed, that was his impression as well.
Except when Athena wanted to leave Byron, he deliberately made things difficult for her regarding the data error.
But Byron tried to make it up to Athena in private.
It was just Athena was much more capable than he had imagined and managed to resolve the issue on her own.
"But my mother..." Gideon felt frustrated.
"So, let her go," Byron said very seriously, repeating it again.
Gideon frowned and pretended to check the time. "Oh, I've accidentally been chatting for over three hours. There are some matters I need to attend to at my company, so I'll go back first." With that, Gideon stood up.
Byron nodded slightly, knowing that Gideon was trying to avoid things.
Gideon walked straight towards the door, but when he reached it, he turned around. "I can't let it go. It has been over a decade, and I really can't let it go!"
"After over a decade, you wouldn't let it go, yet you're afraid to take the consequences. What else is there to say?" Byron replied.
