Chapter 1583 A Kind of Gift

Regarding the five years of entanglement between Byron and Athena, Gideon probably knew it better than they did themselves. When did Byron start having feelings for Athena, ones even he himself wasn't aware of?

Gideon believed it started in the third year when Athena was by his side.

It was also the only period Byron introduced Athena to his friends during those five years, although it was only for a short time. After that, it seemed like Byron sensed something was wrong and started treating Athena worse and being colder towards her.

"I think you wanted to use those methods to test if she would leave you as Freya did."

And then came the engagement, which led to Athena turning her back on him and resigning from her job.

Because he lost Athena, Byron gradually started to understand his feelings and resorted to using forceful methods to keep her.

The more Gideon spoke, the more serious his expression became.

It continued until the incident when Aiden and Mia almost died in the operation.

As Byron listened, his hand couldn't help but tremble.

He felt like he was hearing the story of an extremely despicable stranger.

He felt both ashamed and angry.

"Thank you," Byron heard Gideon save the two children and thanked him with a slightly trembling voice.

Gideon didn't say much more.

"That's the story. I don't know much about how you two reunited and got back together later on, but Athena must have forgiven you," Gideon said, patting Byron's shoulder. "Byron, the days you have now weren't easily obtained. Instead of regretting what happened in the past, why not quickly move forward and spend the rest of your life well with your wife and children?"

"Yeah," Byron responded bleakly.

Feeling Byron's mood, Gideon didn't continue on this topic.

Instead, he brought up some things from when they were young.

"Thinking back, it's really nostalgic. When we were just a couple of kids, we impulsively decided to build a company, and then Imbe was established. You wanted to tell your mother you didn't want to compete with her for Crawford Group. You wanted to build your own success. In the blink of an eye, it's been more than ten years. Crawford Group is basically gone, but Imbe Group has stood tall like a mountain that countless people admire but can't overcome."

Gideon shook his head, holding his arms, and sighed.

Byron's hand on his knee tightened slightly. "Did I used to care so much about my mother's opinion?"

"More than just caring," Gideon shrugged. "But your mother really is something else. In the world of high society, how many mothers would do anything to secure the inheritance rights for their sons? Conversely, your mother worried about you stealing her power when you were just learning to speak. Later, she almost caused an accident just to prevent you from attending some insignificant meeting." Gideon paused for a moment.

Then he continued, "Byron, to be frank, ever since you lost your memories, I've been thinking, isn't it a gift from fate?"

Sometimes, it would be better to forget certain things.

Byron fell silent for a moment but nodded.

Gideon stretched out his legs and said, "There's someone else. Even though you don't remember her, I still want to mention her to you."

Byron thought it was another one of his own mistakes.

He immediately looked at Gideon, waiting for Gideon to pass judgment on himself.

But Gideon started talking about something else.

"Her name is Sally. We all knew each other when we were teenagers," Gideon's gaze turned toward the distant view outside the window, and his expression became somewhat pale.
