Chapter 1533 The Executioner

Julian had grown up in the lap of luxury, showered with indulgence.

His brother had shouldered the family's burdens, and for a long time, everyone had catered to Julian's whims.

He even thought that requesting 300 million dollars was already an act of great generosity.

If Athena had any sense, she would have accepted the offer and brought an end to the bargaining, allowing for peace between both sides.

But who could have predicted...

"So, when did you discover that Byron's real father is your brother and that your wife was nothing more than a vessel chosen by your mother for reproduction?"

Athena's words shook Julian, causing him to stand abruptly and take a couple of steps back. He pointed at Athena with stern reproach. "What nonsense are you talking about?"

"You've been bribing journalists to spread the idea that the Byron I brought back is not the genuine Byron, that he's not your son. You've been making all this noise about wanting to see him just to interrogate him face to face. Your plan was to demand a paternity test. Even if the results revealed a blood relation, you could still deny that he's Byron."

Athena mercilessly exposed the secret plan Julian had harbored, a plan he hadn't even shared with his girlfriend.

"So, that's why you've been preventing me from seeing him?" Julian's realization hit him like a thunderbolt.

"Of course, I couldn't let you upset him." Athena's response was chilling.

She was resolute in not allowing Byron's true parentage to become a sensational topic for gossip or media frenzy. Julian's strategy was cunning.

He likely believed that anyone privy to Byron's real parentage was already dead.

He probably assumed that Byron would be too concerned about his reputation to ever reveal such an embarrassing lineage to the public.

Even if Byron did expose the truth and underwent a paternity test that proved Byron was Julian's brother's child, then what?

His brother could easily have another hidden child somewhere.

Athena had found a doppelgänger secret child, someone resembling Byron, and brought him in as a substitute in Julian's warped reasoning.

In Julian's mind, whether Byron was alive or not, the result was the same.

"Very well, now that everything is out in the open, let's discuss it openly. Because of Byron's birth, I was deprived of the opportunity to be a father! Now that I'm about to become a father again, Byron owes me for this. Three hundred million dollars in exchange for keeping that secret hidden forever. It's not much!"

Julian's voice unexpectedly grew calmer.

He settled back into a seat across from Athena, adopting a posture that seemed ready for rational negotiation.

Athena listened, her lips curling into a smile, her eyes dropping slightly.

"Father?" She chuckled, shifting her gaze from her lap to meet Julian's eyes. It was as though she was observing a comedic scene unfold. "You mean your charismatic little girlfriend managed to get pregnant with your child?"

Julian was caught off guard. "What have you done?"

"Nothing too drastic. Yesterday, as she was preparing to leave the country, I had a couple of friends invite her to Byron's farm on the outskirts." Athena's hand rested on her knee, gently tapping it as she spoke, radiating an air of satisfaction.

"Athena, you're a mother too. Don't let your actions become too ruthless! She's innocent in all of this!" Julian's tone grew somber. "Don't harm her and frighten her!"

"The renowned executioner from overseas could be so easily frightened?" Athena's words dripped slowly from her lips.

Julian's brows furrowed. "What nonsense are you spouting now? Nia just graduated from an art school. What renowned executioner?"

As Athena spoke, she retrieved a document from her bag and placed it on the table. "Do you think I've been silently observing while you've been going crazy online these past few days? Well, let me clarify. I wanted to see how someone as timid and cowardly as you would dare to concoct such an elaborate scheme. And guess what I discovered when I investigated? The results were quite remarkable, I must admit."
