Chapter 1532 Three Hundred Million Dollars Should Cover It
Julian slapped a paper onto the table in front of Athena.
She picked it up and skimmed the messy contents.
The page was filled with a mishmash of numbers, laying out everything from future alimony Byron should pay over the next thirty years, which amounted to an impressive 75 million dollars alone. There were also projected medical expenses totaling five million dollars. Now the total number was 80 million dollars.
Besides...
There were shares Julian believed Byron owed him. Based on Imbe Group's market value from yesterday, these shares amounted to a staggering 1.86 billion dollars.
Apart from that, there were also a few other odds and ends, including the promise Julian had made to Byron about Lola's inheritance.
All totaled, Julian was demanding a grand total of 2.2 billion dollars from Athena and Byron.
"No wonder you're the little boy Alivia cherished, growing up to be so gutsy," Athena praised with a hearty clap, her face bright with approval. Her focus then shifted to Julian, her expression serious as she asked, "But why shouldn't I just take a fraction of these 2.2 billion dollars, hire a hitman, and make you vanish? Seems like a much simpler solution, doesn't it?"
Julian's spine straightened in an instant. "I am Byron's father. Are you suggesting patricide?"
"Father?" Athena lowered her eyes as if she'd heard a joke. "Julian, why did you and Lola have such a major falling out during her later years?"
A flicker of hesitation crossed Julian's face.
Would Byron ever confide in Athena about the buried family secrets?
A fine sheen of cold sweat began to form on his forehead.
"I'd rather not bring up Lola. If you're unhappy with the sum on this list, then name your own price. If it seems reasonable to me, we can get this sorted quickly," Julian retorted.
"But I want to talk about it." Athena's gaze bore into Julian.
Julian wasn't one for hiding his emotions.
Athena swiftly pieced together the answers to her internal questions from his evasive gaze.
Julian was undoubtedly privy to Byron's true lineage.
During Lola's last years, the key reason for her rift with Julian was something known only to her and perhaps to Byron now.
"Wasn't it because I had another woman on the side?" Julian's irritation was evident on his face. "Athena, why dig up the past?"
"Of course, there's a reason." Athena replied without a hint of hesitation, "By revisiting history, I can decide whether to continue discussing this money with you or just spend a fraction to make you disappear." "You're underestimating me!" Julian slammed the table hard.
"Am I underestimating you, or are you going too far?" Athena locked eyes with Julian. "Last time, when you stirred up trouble with your crew, I warned you. But instead of heeding my advice, you went all out to spread rumors online, and you even had the audacity to threaten me through my daughter. Julian, your mother set up a trust fund for you, giving you two million dollars every month. That's more than most people make in a lifetime. You could have lived comfortably with those two million dollars. So why take this reckless path?"
Cold sweat had begun to trickle down Julian's back.
"That's enough!" Julian seethed with hatred, grinding his teeth. "I'll drop the alimony and medical expenses. As for the shares... let's just use the original price from when they were assigned to me, 300 million dollars."
To clarify and prevent any misconceptions, Julian added, "A total of 300 million dollars should cover it!"
