Chapter 1298 Gideon's Life Hangs in the Balance

"I will investigate," Byron replied, "During this time, Miss Annie Ross, stay in the hotel and don't go anywhere for your safety. After all, you have been targeted for assassination once because of Heather." Annie looked incredulously at Byron. "Mr. Crawford, you don't suspect me, do you?"

Byron's expression was stern as he said, "I equally suspect every member of the Ross family. Until the real culprit is exposed, anyone could be the murderer."

Annie looked hurt. "I understand. I will follow your instructions and stay in the hotel until everything is resolved."

Saying that, Annie put away the iPad, placed it back in her briefcase, and stood up. She looked apologetically at Athena. "Chelsea, we'll have to postpone our lunch again. Let's meet up after Mr. Crawford has everything sorted out."

"Alright," Athena responded.

Annie carried her bag and left with a sad look.

After she left, Athena looked at Byron. "Do you think she's lying?"

"First, let's investigate the cases of those annihilated families she mentioned," Byron paused, "And also look into Heather's mother. Then, have Logan hack into Annie's room's network to monitor her every move."

Byron now trusted no one. He was indiscriminately suspicious.

After finishing their work, Byron and Athena planned to return home when Liam hurriedly rushed over.

"What's wrong again?" Byron's face changed when he saw Liam's expression, which seemed highly distressed.

"Mr. Hale has had an accident!" Liam said gravely.

"Who?" Byron turned serious. "Gideon?"

"Yes, Mr. Hale inspected the factory in the neighboring city the day before yesterday. He left yesterday evening, and we haven't contacted him since then. His car was found, along with him, at the bottom of a cliff just an hour ago," Liam explained with a worried expression.

"Is he alive?" Athena hurriedly asked.

"He's currently being treated at the hospital, but his injuries are severe!" Liam showed deep concern.

At this critical moment, anything that happened would instinctively be related to seeking revenge for Heather.

Immediately, Byron and Athena rushed to the hospital where Gideon was being treated.

On the way, Byron kept updating on the surgical status of Gideon and what kind of assistance he needed.

Gideon's family had already gone overseas to prepare for Christmas.

The original plan was that after Gideon finished inspecting the factory and attending the company's annual meeting, he would fly over to reunite with his family for Christmas.

Everyone didn't expect this accident.

"Byron, there's heavy fog at the airport, and the planes haven't been able to take off. Please stay with Gideon and let him know that his parents and grandparents are on their way back. Ask him to wait for us," Eleanor, Gideon's mother, said to Byron over the phone.

She was crying on the phone.

Byron also didn't know why the thought of a family annihilation crossed his mind.

"Mrs. Eleanor Hale, I'm with Gideon. For now, don't get on the plane. In case Gideon needs any medical equipment that isn't available, I might need your help to handle the procedures there," Byron said solemnly.

"Are we not coming back?" Eleanor was surprised. "Byron, Gideon is in danger. How can we not come back? Are you hiding something from us?"

Eleanor had known Byron for a long time. She knew that he wouldn't say something so outrageous without reason.
