Chapter 1297 Unfamiliarity

Athena wanted to scroll further, but Byron promptly turned off the iPad and looked at Annie sharply. "Why did you show us these?"

"I was wondering if there was any connection between Heather and these two annihilated families," Annie asked, struggling to maintain her composure.

"Why are you saying that?" Athena replied with a counter-question.

Annie's voice grew deeper as she spoke, "The families you saw earlier, plus two more that you haven't seen yet, all had some connection with Heather. So, when I heard about the suspected annihilation of people associated with you, I instinctively linked these incidents."

Byron's gaze was probing. "Perhaps someone within the Ross family cares deeply for Heather and seeks revenge through these means."

Annie said firmly, "They are not from the Ross family. There are Ross family members among the annihilated families too. While there might be conflicts within the Ross family, we would never harm each other."

"Miss Annie Ross, don't say this. I know quite a few examples of the Ross family members killing each other. For instance, how your father snatched the position of the head of the Ross family from your eldest brother," Athena bluntly exposed.

Annie's complexion turned unpleasant. "Alright, I admit that I've thought about it and even investigated in secret to see if there's anyone suspicious within the Ross family."

She continued, "Everyone is operating their businesses normally, and there doesn't seem to be anyone with such suspicions. However, there's one person I couldn't find any information on." "Who?" Byron asked.

"Heather's mother. After the Ross family abandoned Heather, her mother divorced my father and remarried quietly in a foreign country. She had no contact with Heather for many years and didn't even attend Heather's funeral."

Athena paid close attention to Annie's words but didn't notice anything unusual for now.

"So, is my guess correct? The annihilation cases under Mr. Crawford's command are also related to Heather's situation?" Annie asked.

"Yes," Athena gave a direct answer.

Annie's brows furrowed, and appeared to be on the verge of collapse. Her slender figure swayed slightly.

"Who could be so crazy?!" She looked distressed. "Heather was kind-hearted, aside from her confusion with Mr. Crawford. She would be devastated if she knew so many people died because of her!" "I thought Miss Annie Ross and Heather were not familiar with each other," Byron maintained his indifference.

"After all, there's a significant age gap between us, and we are unfamiliar. But Heather is my sister," Annie sighed deeply and looked up at Byron. "Mr. Crawford, now that we have clear pictures of these two slayers, you must capture them as soon as possible and identify the mastermind behind all this! We can't let more people die in such a shocking manner!"

"Miss Annie Ross, you don't look well. Is your wound bothering you? Do you need me to have someone take you to the hospital?" Athena asked with concern.

Annie shook her head. "Capturing the culprits behind the killings is more important. By the way, I heard Mr. Crawford significantly influences foreign countries. You might want to look for Heather's mother there. I heard she married a powerful figure. The mastermind's actions are vicious, and it seems to match their style!"
