Chapter 1296:

? ? ? ? ?

Their entire relationship was a fabrication, a plot hatched by others to trap Roscoe.

Doreen had once confided her concerns to Jarrod, who had cryptically promised her that things would improve. She was skeptical until Roscoe's father proposed that she marry him if she followed his directions in dealing with Roscoe.

As Roscoe regained consciousness, vulnerable and with some memory loss, Doreen played the role of the doting girlfriend. She made up elaborate stories of her supposed past love, stories he accepted as true because of his amnesia.

However, Roscoe always seemed indifferent towards Doreen. His attitude towards her was often cold.

Despite this, Doreen persisted, believing his coldness was a small price to pay for being with him. After all, she considered him hers.

Now Doreen summarized her manipulations, spinning more tales. “Roscoe, why are you so hard on me? You used to talk so kindly to me and love me so much. How can you be so cruel now?” she pleaded.

Roscoe only sneered quietly to himself. Before or after his amnesia, he knew he couldn't love someone so adept at deception. He had tried to play the roles of boyfriend and fiancé, but it was not used. He didn't just dislike Doreen.

He was disgusted by her pretense and the way she looked down on others, treating the service staff terribly. Roscoe found it all disgusting. His doubts deepened.

“Doreen, you keep saying I love you, but I don't feel that way. “I can’t see myself loving someone like you,” Roscoe confessed, determined to tell the truth. It was clear that there was a lack of compatibility.

"I will talk to my family about this. I hope you do the same. We are simply not right for each other," Roscoe said decisively.

Doreen expected comfort, but instead, Roscoe dealt her a devastating blow.

Roscoe turned to leave after speaking.

Doreen stepped forward and shouted, "Roscoe, let me tell you something! Miguel will kill you if we don't get married."

Undeterred, Roscoe continued to walk away.

"Roscoe!" she screamed, overcome with anger as she watched him walk away.

In a fit of rage, she threw her bag at him, hitting his back.

Roscoe stopped momentarily at being hit, but then resumed his march without looking back.

Doreen, who was left alone, kicked her feet in frustration. After calming down, she grabbed her purse, pulled out her phone and called Miguel.

“Miguel… Roscoe is being unfair… He’s talking about calling off the wedding…” Doreen sobbed into the phone.

Miguel spent a long time trying to calm her down. Finally, Doreen's tears calmed down. "Okay, Miguel, I was just angry for a moment. Please don't be too hard on Roscoe. We're going to get married, after all."

Miguel reassured her affectionately: “You are very understanding. Don't worry. The wedding date is set. “You will be my daughter-in-law and that’s it.”

Miguel's indulgence with Doreen was not solely due to her arrangement with Jarrod. He was more interested in the strategic benefits of uniting the Schultz and Watts families. This alliance was too important to risk any disruption.

Meanwhile, Roscoe's phone buzzed as he settled into his car. The caller ID made him frown and he quickly turned off the phone.

As he turned the corner, he saw Nicole standing at the corner, a bag in her hand, apparently waiting for a ride.

Roscoe had planned to pass on it. As an engaged man, he knew it was wise not to associate with other women until he had sorted out his current situation with Doreen.
