Chapter 1288:
? ? ? ? ?
Jarrod, about to turn around, stopped at this and made a cold statement: “Your custody now belongs to me. From now on, Vicki assumes the role of your mother. Keep that in mind.”
Hearing this, Vicki's heart filled with joy. After all, her efforts had not been in vain.
Inducing illness in Austin and then apparently tending to him throughout the night had proven advantageous, winning his favor.
"No! “I don’t want that!” Austin screamed. “I have my own mother. I don't want anyone else to replace her. You’re an evil person!”
Austin abruptly jumped out of bed and ran towards Jarrod, hitting him with his small fists while exclaiming: "Cruel man, give me back my mother! Give her back to me..."
Jarrod left silently.
Alec, compelled by necessity, urged, "Austin, speaking to your father like that is unacceptable."
“He isn't!” Austin exclaimed vehemently. “He isn't! In my heart, Roscoe is my father!”
Jarrod paused, his gaze piercing as he said, “What did you just say?”
"I said that Roscoe is my father, my only father."
Jarrod grabbed Austin by the collar, his eyes blazing with fury. “Silence! “I am your fucking father, and I will remain your father for the rest of your life!”
Being a mere child, how could Austin tolerate Jarrod's angry behavior?
Tears streamed down her face instantly. However, she persisted: “No… You are not…”
Jarrod grabbed Austin's neck from behind and quickly lifted him to a considerable height.
Austin, gripped by a fear of heights and a feeling of suffocation, quickly began to turn purple.
“Jarrod!” Vicki's scream echoed, bringing Jarrod back to his senses.
She quickly snatched Austin away from him, clutching him to her chest, wailing, “Jarrod, the boy is innocent. Restrain your anger and refrain from committing such acts, lest he be haunted by nightmares.”
Austin continued to cough as he hugged Vicki.
Jarrod belatedly understood the unbridled nature of his emotions.
This incident had occurred in the presence of his own son. As he looked at Austin's fearful look, he realized how much his anger had terrified him.
The phrase “I'm sorry” had been on Jarrod's tongue countless times, but he couldn't bring himself to say it. His anger was still seeing over Austin's claim that Roscoe was his father.
“Take care of him,” Jarrod told Vicki. He feared the resurgence of his emotional turmoil. The mere mention of Roscoe by Austin and Nicole threatened to destabilize him completely.
Plus, Vicki's earlier maternal instincts had stirred something inside Jarrod. By comparison, Vicki seemed infinitely more reliable.
Leaving Austin in her capable hands, with Vicki's intelligence and commitment to her happiness, she was sure to have the ability to provide Austin with excellent care. And it was only temporary.
