Chapter 1255:

“Thank you, Rhett,” Nicole expressed her gratitude, clutching the note in her hand. “I’ll be visiting this organization to see if I can find out anything.”

Rhett had doubts about the effectiveness of his visit, but he refrained from discouraging Nicole.

He gave Nicole a business card and said, “The person in charge is an old colleague of mine. You can ask him when you arrive.”

“Thank you, Mr. Bates,” Nicole said, acknowledging the advantage of having someone in the know to help her gather information.

Rhett was always thorough and conscientious. Feeling slightly embarrassed, Nicole added, “I’ll increase your pay later for your extra time.”

"No need," Rhett added, "We agreed on a fee, and I charge per case, not per hour."

Rhett reassured her further: “I owe a great deal to Mr. Dixon of the Dixon Group, and his wife has personally asked me to take his case. I am committed to seeing this through to the end. “Miss Lawrence, if any problems arise down the road, just let me know.”

Nicole agreed and thanked her again.

After parting ways, she took a taxi to the forensic agency listed at the address she had received from Rhett.

The building was imposing and serious, covered with posters promoting the reporting of irregularities.

"Anonymously report any collusion or bias among doctors or assistants to receive a substantial reward," read one of the signs, highlighting the agency's independence from nepotistic influences and its credibility as a court-appointed professional institution.

Nicole wondered how Jarrod had managed to pass the tests. She met with Mr. Castillo, an acquaintance of Rhett's, to gain a deeper understanding of the testing process.

“Miss Lawrence, each of our procedures is checked in five replicates to ensure that nothing slips through the cracks. If someone tampers with the initial tests, they cannot fool the final three, which are reviewed anonymously by other facilities. It is almost impossible to falsify results here,” says Mr. Castillo.

It is true that the outcome will be determined after several rounds of inspection.

"Mr. Castillo, have there really been no problems over the years?"

Nicole asked.

Mr. Castillo frowned, disgusted by the insinuation. As a man of integrity, he trusted his workplace greatly and disliked any negative implications about the agency.

“I'm sorry, Mr. Castillo. This place is my only hope. “I just want to know more because my son is seriously ill and I’m very worried,” Nicole was quick to add.

Mr. Castillo's demeanor softened upon learning of their situation, especially since he, too, had become a father to a beautiful little girl this year. He empathized with parents' concerns, acknowledging that mothers often feel the strain more acutely than fathers.

"In the past, there was a case where an employee manipulated test samples," he explained more gently.

“The person involved had taken bribes and was acting independently. Upon discovery, he was sentenced to three years and fined heavily. Since that incident, we have implemented strict background checks on our employees to ensure they are free from debt, gambling habits and uphold high ethical standards.”

He added: “Please note the numerous warning signs and awareness campaigns throughout our facilities. “We have ensured that our staff are well compensated, which reduces the likelihood of such risks.”

Despite her assurances, Nicole still had doubts. She acknowledged Mr. Castillo's integrity, but was aware that not everyone could adhere to such strict ethical standards.

With enough motivation, some might succumb to temptation.

"Mr. Castillo, could you provide me with a list of the latest staff resignations?" Nicole asked.
