Chapter 1254:

? ? ? ? ?

Jarrod knew about Austin's heart condition, but finding a compatible donor was proving difficult. Despite his wealth, locating a compatible donor was no easy task. Otherwise, with his financial resources, he should have been able to locate a donor quickly. When he found the right person, he was willing to do whatever he could to get them to donate.

Nicole felt desperate. She knew she couldn't expect Jarrod to share her concerns. All she could hope for was Austin's safety during this precarious time.

She made a concession and said, “Austin can't eat cold food and there are certain taboos. Only the nanny knows about them. Please don't dismiss her. She has been taking care of Austin for years, she knows him well and she won't hurt him. Austin also trusts her a lot. I implore you…”

For the first time in a long time, Nicole had humiliated herself.

Jarrod felt validated in his decision. He should have treated her like that earlier. She wouldn't appreciate his kindness anyway.

“Apologize to Vicki.” Jarrod was determined to seek justice for Vicki, to not let her grievances go unnoticed.

Nicole's demeanor turned cold. Thinking of Austin, she reluctantly apologized. “I'm sorry, Miss Hampton. My misunderstanding led me to speak out of turn. “It would be best if you didn’t harbor any ill intentions.”

After a brief pause, Nicole added: “Someday, when you are a mother, you will understand that a mother would do anything for her child, even sacrifice her own life.”

Although it seemed like an apology, Nicole's words carried a subtle warning to Vicki. If Vicki dared to hurt Austin, she would face serious consequences.

Vicki, as perceptive as ever, understood the implied threat. Although initially disgusted, she maintained her composure.

“Of course, Miss Lawrence, I understand where you are coming from. When I marry Jarrod and become pregnant, I will experience motherhood first hand. “All mothers love their children very much and would never act against their best interests.”

Vicki's response served as a warning to Nicole, cautioning her against any improper action.

Nicole got the message and replied curtly: “Congratulations, despite everything.”

Vicki responded with a shy smile.

Jarrod, uninterested in the conversation, lowered his head and asked Vicki, “Can you walk?”

Vicki replied, “Let me try.”

Vicki tried to take a step, but won in pain. “Ouch…”

Without a second thought, Jarrod picked her up and walked away without looking back.

A chilly breeze blew through, making Nicole shiver and get goosebumps on her arms. A feeling of unease washed over her as she worried about Austin's well-being.

Just then, Rhett came out and called out to Nicole: “Miss Lawrence, this is Mr. Schultz’s testing organization.”

She gave Nicole an address and explained, “It’s a reputable organization. There have been no problems, and the doctors are highly qualified. Logically, if Mr. Schultz had a mental illness, it should not have led to this outcome.”

Although Rhett was suspicious of Nicole's claims, he chose to voice them subtly. He didn't want to discourage a mother who had lost visitation rights to her son.

Nicole shook her head decisively. “I can't be wrong. She has been taking medication, as evidenced by the large bottle. It is similar to what she used to take and she has taken two-thirds of it, indicating that she has followed the treatment regimen. The lack of a reaction to the medication in her system suggests that she may have tampered with it.”

“If your assessment is correct, I will continue to investigate. As for visitation rights, don't worry. Once you demonstrate emotional stability during your three doctor visits, I can reapply to the court. In the meantime, try not to overthink it. Let’s work together to get your visitation rights back soon.” Rhett remained professional and compassionate, refraining from reprimanding Nicole for her unverified claims.

Few lawyers would dare take Nicole's case, wary of offending powerful people who had risen from humble beginnings.

Considering their backgrounds, it was likely that these people had achieved success through ruthless means.
