Chapter 1256:

That request was immediately denied. Despite Nicole's insistence, Mr. Castillo stood firm, committed to preserving the privacy of his staff in line with agency protocols.

Then, seeing a poster asking for volunteers, Nicole saw an opportunity. “Mr. Castillo, could you volunteer here?” she suggested.

Mr. Castillo looked at her skeptically.

“Trust me, I won't interfere or cause any trouble. You can check my references with Mr. Bates,” Nicole said sincerely.

Mr. Castillo continued to have doubts. “This situation worries me,” he confessed.

"I am being transparent with you, Mr. Castillo. I simply want to engage with the staff and understand the reasons for their departures. I am not willing to let any opportunity slip away," Nicole openly declared.

His frankness seemed to convince Mr. Castillo, who thought that allowing him to carry out his investigations might be beneficial.

If he didn't discover anything suspicious, his confidence in the agency's integrity would be reinforced.

Mr. Castillo explained: “To apply for a volunteer position, you will have to speak to our hiring manager and undergo an interview with her. “I will not interfere for your sake.”

Nicole expressed her gratitude: “Thank you, Mr. Castillo.”

She then sought out the recruiter. Although the procedure was somewhat convoluted, Nicole successfully passed the volunteer interview.

She agreed to volunteer two days a week, always being the first to arrive and the last to leave.

Nicole proved to be diligent and quickly gained favor with the agency.

There he set about searching for information and inquiring about employees who had thought about resigning in the last six months.

He has expanded his research, taking care not to overlook any details.

Knowing Jarrod's cautious nature, she assumed that if he was involved in any wrongdoing, it would be meticulously orchestrated.

He soon discovered that in the past six months, only four employees had planned to leave, and one had already resigned.

Nicole examined the remaining three still at the agency, but found nothing suspicious at first glance.

However, he continued his investigation. During his days off, he kept an eye on the home of the resigned employee, in case he had any ties to the agency's current staff.

After a week of observation, she noticed an anomaly. He was still dating an employee of the agency. They met for dinner at a restaurant and, after the meal, they stayed until the establishment closed.

Nicole's suspicions grew and she peeked inside the restaurant. It was dark. The restaurant had closed for the night. Where could they have disappeared to?

He headed to the back entrance of the restaurant, looking for any sign.

Behind the building, shrouded in darkness, Nicole saw rooms above the restaurant glowing with red and purple lights, flickering in a way that suggested something unpleasant.

The scene seemed strange to him, as the lights looked like those typical of red-light districts.
