Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 1245
Chapter 1245:
? ? ? ? ?
Alarmed by Jarrod's pallor and the bloody cut on his palm, Alec rushed over. "Mr. Schultz, your hand. Let me bandage it for you."
Quickly opening the car door, Alec pulled out the first aid kit.
As Alec began to unroll the gauze, Jarrod snatched it from him and clumsily wrapped it around the wound.
“You should disinfect it, Mr. Schultz,” Alec insisted.
“Fine,” Jarrod replied coldly. Disinfect? He had long since become immune to all poisons.
Alec could see the tension etched on Jarrod's face. He must have had another unpleasant encounter with Nicole. Why couldn't she be sensitive and appreciate Jarrod's efforts?
Last night, Jarrod had abruptly left an important company dinner to go to the hospital after a call, leaving the other executives in the lurch.
Even though Alec took care of the aftermath, the foreign general manager was still outraged, demanding, “What could be so urgent that he had to leave?”
Alec tried to make things right, but the CEO was Adamant, forcing Jarrod to return.
Who could have predicted that Jarrod's reaction would be so indifferent? The deal was effortlessly dismissed, as if it were inconsequential.
A billion-dollar contract that could have propelled the company to the top was thwarted by Jarrod's precipitous departure for Nicole. It was infuriating, the irrationality of falling in love.
"Where are we going, Mr. Schultz?" Alec finally asked, breaking the long silence.
“The Oasis Apartment,” Jarrod replied.
Alec paused, contemplating the family fate. The Oasis Apartment again. It was Jarrod's sanctuary, a place where he sought solace whenever the opportunity presented itself.
Alec couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for Jarrod. Ever since that court summons came, Jarrod's behavior had soured, casting a shadow over the entire company.
The staff tipped around Jarrod, fearing his wrath, knowing that a single mistake could lead to a deluge of extra work. Who would dare provoke him?
Alec guessed that Jarrod had probably been hoping that yesterday's call would pave the way for reconciliation, explaining his urgent departure. However, the outcome was still disappointing.
At that moment, Alec understood the harsh reality that when women stopped loving, they could be relentlessly ruthless.
At the Oasis apartment, Jarrod said goodbye to Alec, telling him not to wait, before walking up the stairs alone.
Alec watched the imposing figure fade into the night, a pang of worry washing over him, like watching a wounded alpha wolf retreat into solitude to nurse his wounds.
The comparison made Alec uneasy. After all, wolves were known for their unwavering monogamy.
When Jarrod pushed open the cold door, he was met with an eerie silence. The emptiness echoed his loneliness.
The immaculate table and floor, gleaming from the recent cleaning, only served to accentuate the solitude of his presence.
He poured himself a drink and gulped it down before stepping into the shower, hoping to wash away the tiredness weighing on his shoulders.
