Chapter 1242:

As Dilan walked out, Jarrod's assistant quickly approached him.

Pulling out a business card, the assistant handed it over, saying, "Mr. Boyd, please send your proposal directly to the department head using this card."

Dilan instantly perked up. He accepted the card with both hands, effusively expressing his gratitude. The assistant's gesture suggested to him that a well-crafted proposal could secure him the project, with the possibility of earning a significant commission.

Floating in the air with excitement, Dilan exclaimed: “Thank you! “Thank you.”

His gratitude was so deep that he felt he would do anything the assistant asked of him, no matter how outrageous it might seem.

“You're welcome. Mr. Schultz appreciates your help today, Mr. Boyd,” the assistant replied politely.

Dilan realized that he had helped the right person, someone important to Jarrod. He made a mental note to continue his acts of kindness, believing that such good deeds would bring him fortune, as it seemed would happen today.

Meanwhile, in the hospital room, Nicole lay seemingly at peace, breathing calmly.

Yet the tears that lingered at the edges of her eyes betrayed her inner turmoil, a silent testament to her pain that Jarrod could not ignore.

A flash of anger crossed Jarrod's features. He rubbed the corners of Nicole's eyes with the callused pads of his fingers, pressing a little too firmly, as if trying to release his pent-up frustration.

Quickly, the skin around her eyes turned red from the harsh friction.

Even unconscious, Nicole seemed to notice the discomfort. She wrinkled her brow and moaned softly.

Jarrod noticed her discomfort and softened his touch, gently stroking the reddened area without doing anything else.

At dawn, Nicole opened her eyes to see Jarrod's face close to hers. He was sitting by her bed, absorbed in a financial magazine.

Nicole didn't know if she had been there all night or had just arrived.

Startled, she clutched the sheets tightly, her eyes wary and searching.

Confusion filled her mind. She hadn't noticed what was around her.

However, I have blurted out, “What are you doing here?”

Jarrod put the magazine aside and narrowed his eyes slightly as he replied, “What are you hiding?”

Nicole clutched the sheets tightly and her expression turned stern.

"I asked you first!"

Jarrod responded with a disdainful snort, “There’s not a part of your body I haven’t seen before.”

Nicole's expression changed dramatically at Jarrod's words.

Now fully conscious, she recognized that she was in the hospital. Memories of the events preceding her loss of consciousness flooded back to her. She remembered seeing Roscoe.
