Chapter 1241:

? ? ? ? ?

While the doctor was administering the IV, Nicole's phone range.

The passerby who had taken Nicole to the hospital picked him up and said, “Hello?”

There was silence on the other end of the phone, not even a whisper.

Just when the passerby assumed the call had not connected, a chilling, authoritative voice asked, “Who are you?”

The tone was so imposing that the passerby involuntarily shuddered under its weight. “I am the one who brought the young lady to the hospital. She fainted outside the Peace Hotel, and is now in a hospital…”

Before the passerby could finish, the line went dead with a series of sharp beeps.

The passerby stood, perplexed, wondering if concern for medical expenses had been the cause of the quick cut.

Since Nicole's phone was locked, the passerby couldn't access any contacts and decided to stay by her side until she woke up.

About ten minutes later, the passerby heard rapid footsteps approaching. Turning around, he saw an elegantly dressed man walking towards him. To his surprise, he recognized the newcomer. “Mr. Schultz, what do you bring here?”

Jarrod frowned slightly, not recognizing the passerby, who then introduced himself. “I’m Dilan Boyd, a sales representative for Artificial Home Furnishings. “We recently submitted a real estate project proposal to your company.”

Despite the introduction, Jarrod's expression remained blank, overwhelmed by the many minor figures seeking his attention. He couldn't remember them all.

Dilan understood the situation. After all, the event had been noisy and his company was not well known. It was no wonder that Jarrod had not recognized him or remembered any previous interactions.

Dilan brought up the topic simply to create some rapport, hoping it could lead to a future collaboration.

“Were you the one who brought this woman here?” Jarrod asked.

After a brief pause, realizing that Jarrod was referring to Nicole, Dilan agreed. "Forks. I was having dinner at the Peace Hotel when I saw this young woman on the floor, her legs visibly injured. I offered to help her, but she refused. However, as soon as she stood up, she collapsed.”

Dilan tended to be talkative, especially since he understood that Nicole had to be important for Jarrod to rush over personally. Jarrod was a big shot, after all. Eager to make a good impression, Dilan went on at length without being asked.

“Did I fail?” Jarrod interjected with a terse question.

Yes, another woman pushed her to the ground. She apparently knew the man accompanying the attacker and tried to intervene, resulting in her being pushed and verbally abused.

Dilan preferred not to go into the details of the altercation, merely pointing out that it was an unpleasant exchange. Had it not been for his driver's delay, he might have overlooked these critical details.

“Later, I found her here, crying profusely, so I went over to see if I could help,” Dilan concluded.

Hearing the story, Jarrod's expression turned grim. He knew the individuals Dilan described.

“Very well, you can go now.” Jarrod dismissed Dilan abruptly, his tone icy.

Watching Jarrod's expression grow darker, Dilan regretted speaking so freely, thinking that his words had somehow offended Jarrod. He berated himself for not choosing his words well.

“Okay, then I’m leaving,” Dilan said, walking away with a heavy heart.
