Chapter 1221:

With that in mind, Jarrod resolved to arrange a full medical check-up for Austin the next day.

Jarrod turned to Nicole with a cold expression and said, “You hid him away, unable to give him a decent life, and now he is so fragile. “I don’t think you are capable of raising this child.”

Jarrod assumed that Austin's paleness was due to malnutrition, unaware of the serious illness he suffered from.

Nicole's anger flared. She pulled off her shoe and threw it at Jarrod, hitting him on the shoulder. "What do you know, Jarrod!" she snapped, glaring at him with deep, swirling hatred.

Although the shock was minor to Jarrod, his pride could not tolerate such defiance. His expression hardened and he sneered. “What do I know? “I know you cavort with another man while you leave my son somewhere else with a nanny.”

He jabbed a finger in his face, his voice venomous. “Nicole, just because of that, you have no chance of winning custody!”

“Why would I hide?” Nicole laughed out loud as if the question were the punchline of a joke. “Jarrod, why would I hide?”

Jarrod's expression contorted in frustration as he faced her, knowing all too well her reasons but refusing to admit his faults.

For him, Nicole was destined to be his, regardless of the time that passed or the distance that separated them.

"If you hadn't been so overbearing, would I really need to hide?"

Nicole stared at him. “Tell me, do you really want Austin as a father, or is there some ulterior motive?”

Jarrod clenched his fists, his silence a testament to his undeniable intention to keep Nicole by his side at any cost.

“You know that deep down in your heart, don't you?” Nicole scoffed, her resolve hardening. “I won't give up custody of my son. “I’ll gather all the evidence I need and I’ll see you in court.”

Jarrod almost laughed at the challenge. “Sue me? “Nicole, this is beyond you.”

But Nicole just smiled, unfazed. “Life is a constant battle, Jarrod. Remember the glory you once claimed? Look at you now. “This is my victory.”

Jarrod's face paled. Nicole's words emphasized how the Schultz family's fortunes had declined from the heights he had once restored upon his return.

The Schultz Group, shaken by Nicole's relentless maneuvers, had fallen out of the top ten, leaving Jarrod desperate for an alliance with the Hampton family to regain their former glory.

However, with billions at their disposal, crushing Nicole seemed as easy as crushing an before.

Reading the contemplation in her eyes, Nicole retort bravely, “Even a hungry camel is bigger than a horse, and even if you are now a hundred or a thousand times stronger than me, I am not afraid of you. “I have nothing to lose.”

Tragically, both her daughter and her dying mother were under Jarrod's control. Nicole had tried to persuade Dora to leave with her, but Dora, unconscious, refused to leave the sanctuary of the sanatorium. The sanatorium had become a fortress for her unresponsive mother.

With no other choice, Nicole prepared to take on the challenge, even at the risk of failure. After all, what else did she have to lose? She knew Roscoe shared her determination.

"Roscoe and I are serious. I have accepted his proposal. In my heart, he is already my husband," Nicole declared with conviction.

With those words, he swore never to set foot in the Oasis apartment, this prison, again.

Suddenly, a muffled “Bang” resounded ominously.

Jarrod's face turned red with rage as he threw the lamp beside him with force.
