Maya

I watched as Jess unwrapped the gifts, cheerful and happy as my mind continued to whirl dangerously, full of doubts and fears. Nate was not far from me, holding Axel eating a piece of chocolate with his face all dirty.

I didn’t know what to do. This morning everything was normal. Nate came to pick me up at the hospital, we had a quickie in the car and then we went home. We slept together, but when I woke up, he was acting weird. He barely looked at me or talked to me, got in his car, and by the time he got there, he was holed up in the office with his dad and Jess.

I didn’t know what to think anymore. I thought everything was fine between us, it was the only certainty I had, but apparently, it wasn’t.

Was he tired of me? Did he have doubts about us and about the step we had taken?

Yet, with Axel, nothing had changed, on the contrary. He held him tight and left him to no one as if he was terrified that he would be torn from his hands at any moment and Axel was no exception. He was not trying to go with anyone or call me, it was as if he felt Nate’s mood and wanted to reassure him.

I didn’t understand anything anymore, I just had a thousand questions in my head. I was scared, I was terrified I could lose him, and it felt like it was happening, and I didn’t want to. I wouldn’t have gotten up if I’d lost him, too. I would never let him walk away from me, I would never let him walk away from me, I would not let anything and nobody between us.

For the first time in my life, I was terrified of losing someone, and I would destroy the entire universe to keep him with me.

I turned to look at him again, seeing that he was swinging while he was holding Axel, and I immediately approached him, grabbing at his arm for fear that he would disappear at any moment. I clung to him as if I had no tomorrow and I leaned my head on his shoulder, trying to hide the fears that were crowding me over.

Nate turned his head and kissed me on the head. Immediately my whole body relaxed as if it were a magic pill that could make disappear everything that make me agitate.

I snuggled up to him again, before I drew my eyes back on Jess and Andrew as they approached the two mountains of cupcakes. On top of each mountain, there was a black balloon floating inside colored sugar balls that, once released, fell on the icing of cupcakes revealing the gender of the children.

I was very excited to see Jess and Andrew find out the s*x of their children, but I also knew that they didn’t care, the thing that really interested them was that the children were healthy and that they were finally able to form the family that they so dreamed of.

“Promise me that when it’s our turn, you won’t let Lucas handle this kind of party,” Nate said.

Smiles happy, feeling his heart calm a little “I’ll leave the honor to Jess” I answered raising my head towards him.

Nate shuddered and shook his head, “Better Lucas,” he said.

I laughed and looked back at the couple.

Jess and Andrew approached the first cake, both holding a pointed underwire to burst the balloon.

They counted backward and then together they punctured the first. The balls immediately fell on the icing of each cupcake, covering everything with pink like the s*x of the first child. The guests shouted happily and applauded as Jess and Andrew kissed cheerfully and each took a cupcake and thickened it by covering its mouth with icing and pink sugar balls. They ate it cheerfully and then passed to the other mountain.

They counted again and then together burst the balloon, dropping on the cake the blue sugar waterfall. The guests shouted again and Andrew and Jess hugged each other as they took a cupcake again, repeating the action before.

Axel cheered Nate on his lap as he whistled cheerfully while I felt at peace again, knowing that that was my happiness no one would take it away from me.

The party had reached its climax and Jess was dragging me to her room, as if she had not just discarded a mountain of gifts for her children, despite everything, she was super radiant and happy and I could not help but be happy for her.

“Please, Jess, I’m dead tired, can’t you show me tomorrow?” I asked she snorted.

“No, I have to get rid of it immediately,” she answered, dragging me down the hall and opening the door.

We went in and she closed the door behind her. I went to bed and sat down, taking off my heels and leaving them on the ground while I was adjusting the blue dress I was wearing, to avoid it getting too wrinkled.

Jess took a clothing case that she had attached to the closet and approached.

“What is it?” I asked as she stood in front of me with the case and opened it slowly.

“What’s not! A dress that I bought while we were on our honeymoon and that I’ll never have a chance to wear before it goes out of fashion,” she said, opening the case completely while the white cloth was revealed.

“Are you serious?” I asked, bewildered as I watched the fabulous dress she kept hidden.

“Try it,” he said, pulling him out.

“What?!” I opened my mouth wide and looked at her frowning.

“Shut up May and get up”, she dragged me out of bed and put the dress in my hand “I want to see how it fits, it would be a shame to keep it in a case knowing I can never use it” .

I picked up the dress as she pushed me to the bathroom, I froze, and I turned to look at her, “That’s not true! You can use it when you’ve given birth!”

“I’ll be out of fashion by then. Hurry up!” she exclaimed excitedly.

I frowned but did as she told me. I went into the bathroom and undressed. The upper part consisted of a tight bodice, the breast band highlighted my breasts while the rest was made of transparent fabric and lace that was joined with the skirt belt above the h**s. The skirt went down soft and voluptuous on the sides and reached below the knees.

I came out of the bathroom and I went over to Jess.

“Magnificent!” she exclaimed cheerfully.

I rolled my eyes and I gave her my back, showing her the underwired closure of the bodice that was to close me.

Jess got out of bed while I looked in the mirror. She quickly closed my bodice and I settled the straps fine and made them with beads.

“I don’t know where you wanted to use this dress,” I said as I looked in the mirror.

God, I liked it, but I would never admit it. I felt sexy.

“Probably some ex-college roommate’s wedding that I didn’t like,” Jess replied.

I swirled my eyes and she grabbed a few hairpins, and then I pulled my hair to the side and started locking them with hairpins.

“What are you doing?” I asked frowning.

“Let me do this,” Jess replied.

She fixed my hair, creating a kind of hairstyle, and then went through her drawer and pulled out a crown of bright white flowers. Where the hell did he get all that stuff?

“What the hell, Jess!” I complained and at that moment the door of the room opened, revealing Lucas.

My friend looked at me and lit up before coming at me skipping.

“May May you’re sexy as Hell!” he exclaimed cheerfully “But those heels don’t!”.

He opened Jess’ shoe rack and started digging through it. How could she still have all that stuff in her old room?

Lucas pulled out a pair of flesh-colored pumps with a shiny strap. They were made of sandals and I had never seen them at Jess.

“Try these May!” he chuckled.

“What is all this pomp?” I complained as Lucas knelt before me and slapped me on the foot.

I lifted my foot with a snort and Lucas put the shoe on me, then did the same with the other one. I stood on my heels and looked in the mirror. Jess came up with red lipstick in her hand and grabbed my face and turned to her, then put lipstick on my lips.

“What the hell, Jess!” I complained.

“C’mon, don’t be a child May” she took me by the shoulders and turned to the mirror “Look what a sexy bomb you are, you have perfect lips to suck d***s!” she exclaimed cheerfully.

Lucas nodded, “I bet if Nate sees you, he pulls his pants down with a hard d**k!” he exclaimed.

“Lucas!” Jess and I snapped together.

“Why don’t you show him this look!” replied my friend.

He grabbed me by the shoulders and pushed me towards the door, “I really want to see his face,” he continued as we walked up the stairs.

“I don’t understand what this mess is for!” I said exasperated.

He dragged me down the stairs with Jess on our tail and we went out into the garden.

I got stuck and looked in front of me. The tables under the gazebo had been completely cleared and there was only one left. On the stakes of the gazebo, along with the balloons, there were also yellow Christmas lights that illuminated the whole gazebo.

My mom and dad were standing under the gazebo with the Dare, my mom was holding Axel. In front of the coffee table, there was only Nate who had changed, he wore a white shirt and trousers and a black jacket, he had a red bow tie around his neck and in his jacket pocket, he had a red rose.

I looked at him frowning as Lucas passed me and, with great strides, went to position himself behind the table. Jess, next to me, put a bouquet of spring flowers in my hand without me noticing.

I looked at the flowers and then I looked at her frowning.

“What…?” I asked confused.

“This May May, it’s your wedding,” Jess said, smiling at me.

I swiftly turned to Nate who smiled at me, eyes full of love, as my legs turned to jelly.
