Nate

I had everything ready. Devon had made the sacrifice and had taken care of running from one side of the city to the other to get necessary for the small and intimate ceremony that Jess and I had decided to do for Maya and me.

Jess didn’t complain too much, she knew Maya never wanted a big wedding, and that was the perfect opportunity. That surprise, though it came from a time of need, was the thing I wanted most in the world. I didn’t care about the rest.

Devon had gone to get a bouquet of flowers for Maya and then went home to get me a suit, but first, he stopped at the jewelry store and took two wedding rings. Mom had pulled out some Christmas lights to decorate the garden, making it lit and special. Lights covered the gazebo and the table on which the documents Lucas had obtained with the license to marry us were placed. Maya’s mother had gone to the bakery she trusted and had taken a cake to celebrate while my sister had sacrificed one of her last purchases for Maya.

And they were upstairs right now. With an excuse, she dragged her into her room and she was changing her while Dad, Andrew, and I were fixing the lights, alternating them with Jess’ party balloons.

Axel was with Mr. Sheppar, cheerful and happy with the lights we were fixing, and he seemed to be giving us advice on how to fix them.

“Jess texted me that Maya changed. I’m going upstairs to get her,” Lucas said before giving his boyfriend a k**s on the lips.

I sighed and I went down the ladder while my father took it off and I stood in front of the table, looking at the window of the living room where the woman of my life would soon appear.

And just then Maya appeared, Jess next to her as Lucas passed her and came to the table in front of me.

I was enchanted watching Maya. She took my breath away.

The dress that Jess had given her looked amazing. Her tight bodice highlighted her voluptuous breasts, her skirt stretched below her knee and fell softly over her body. Jess had placed her hair on the side and put a crown of bright white flowers on her head.

Maya looked at me confused, her red and extremely fuckable lips were slightly open to form an “o” while Jess was holding her bouquet. I gave her a big smile, reassuring her, and Maya looked at her more and more confused. Jess whispered something in her ear and gave her a k**s on the cheek, then at great strides she came towards the small altar and stood to the side, remaining to stare at Maya who in the meantime had been joined by Mr. Sheppar.

Maya’s father handed her the arm and she put hers in, not understanding anything. They both began to walk towards me as Devon turned on the stereo and soft music filled the garden lit only by Christmas lights.

Maya and her father stopped in front of me. Maya looked wide-eyed at her father who kissed her on the forehead and took her hand, then handed it to me. I grabbed her and dragged her towards me. Maya looked at me bewildered as I laid a gentle k**s on her hand.

“I don’t understand anything,” she said with a string of his voice.

I gave her a big smile, and Lucas started talking, like he’d been waiting for that moment his whole life.

“We are gathered here to unite these two little people here in front of me in the marriage bond that we have been waiting for years now. Like a soap opera in practice,” Lucas began.

I rolled my eyes and Maya shook her head, “Wait what?” she said, turning to Lucas as I held both hands in mine.

“You heard it right, May May. All this was organized for you by this slapping face that you call boyfriend, ruining my every plan and dream for your wedding” said Lucas almost offended “So be good and don’t interrupt my speech, this is my moment!” he continued.

Maya looked up and turned to look at me and I winked at her, trying to hide the nervousness that gripped my guts.

Maya bit her l*p and gave me a faint smile as her eyes moistened and tears threatened to run away.

“So then! Only we know how much we’ve been waiting for the moment when these two beasts in front of us decided to get together and stop undressing with their eyes whenever they saw each other. All this since they were children and yes, Jess, we all suspected that sooner or later this moment would come”.

Jess rolled her eyes.

Lucas was terrible as a judge of this union, at that moment I wanted to change person, but the loving look that Maya was giving me made me completely forget everything else around me.

“And I can only be honored to be the one to unite these two people in this bond that will forever bind their two lives, uniting them in a single soul and a single heart as it already is, just need a signature to make it official” Lucas continued as if he were a star on a stage.

“So I’m not going to be that long, although I could talk for hours about how these two would make each other’s eyes every time they saw each other. I know that there is no one who opposes this union, not even Jess, so I don’t even ask and I go straight to the promises!” Lucas trilled.

“Nate yours,” he said, nodding to me.

I nodded and swallowed the loot that had formed in my throat, I squeezed slightly Maya’s hands and looked into her eyes, those gray eyes that made me lose track of time and space every time they met mine.

I took the ring from the case on the table and began to tuck it into Maya’s left ring finger, taking a deep breath as I began to speak.

“Maya, until last year I had no idea that I could ever wish for something as much as I wished for you and our family. You’re the best thing that ever happened to me, you and Axel are my whole life. I never thought I’d be able to love someone so much, well two until I realized I loved you. I love you with everything and you have everything of me, every part, both the beautiful and the ugly. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you and continue to build this wonderful family that we’re creating. I can’t promise to be jealous or possessive because the very idea of losing you scares me like a crazy, but I can promise you that I will love you and take care of you as long as I live because you are my life, without you anything meaningful and everything is empty and gloomy. I promise to protect you against anyone and anything, now and forever,” I said with a trembling voice, I put the wedding ring on her completely and I carried my hand to my lips before leaving her a gentle k**s.

Maya’s lower l*p began to tremble and tears appeared, she pulled up with her nose as she looked straight into my eyes.

“Maya is up to you,” Lucas said.

“I didn’t prepare anything,” she said.

“Say what you feel,” Jess suggested.

Maya took a deep breath and took her wedding ring from the case, grabbed my hand, and started talking.

“Nate, I didn’t know love until I laid eyes on you. You were always my dream, my friend, and my heart. I could never wish for someone else because if I look to the future the only one I can see is you. I love everything about you, I love your relationship with Axel, and I love how you take care of me. In the last few years, I always thought I could do it alone and I never noticed the loneliness that really surrounded me until you came and turned my life upside down. You possess not only half of my heart, but everything, without you it would not be able to beat, and only with you do I feel really complete as if I were created to love you and be loved by you. I promise to love you and take care of you, build our happy family together, and protect it against anyone who threatens it. I love you now and forever,” Maya said as she cried, she put her wedding ring on my ring finger and bent over to give us a k**s.

I felt behind me someone pull up with his nose and Jess behind Maya wiped her eyes full of tears.

Lucas cleared his throat.

“Good to say that after these words you made everyone cry,” he said with a cracked voice.

“So, Nate Dare, would you marry this beautiful woman, Maya Sheppar here, love her and honor her until death do you part?” he asked me.

“I do,” I answered without taking my eyes off Maya.

“Maya, will you take Nate Dare here as your husband, love him and honor him until death do you part?”

“I do,” she replied, her voice broken by tears.

“By the powers vested in me by the great omnipotence of the Internet, I declare you husband and wife. Please give a warm round of applause to Mr. Nate and Maya Dare.”

I didn’t give him time to answer that I grabbed Maya by the face and I collided my lips with hers, kissing her as if I hadn’t seen her in a lifetime, sharing with her all my love and all that she could make me feel. Maya laid her hands on my face and replied to my k**s as our friends and family cheered happily around us.

I broke away from her and put my forehead on her, my eyes lost in her “I love you” I whispered to her.

“I love you,” she said.

The rest didn’t matter.
