Maya

Nate came back after a few minutes with a tray of steaming plates. I sat down again as he approached the bed and placed the tray in the middle, before sitting carefully.

He took a cloth napkin and put it in my pajama shirt, in the same way, you do with a child. I looked at him grimly but he laughed and took the dish with the broth and gave it to me with the utmost attention.

I began to eat slowly, letting the hot liquid warm my body that continued to be run by chills of cold.

Nate looked at me with circumspection as he took the container with the takeout food he had brought with him and began to eat.

I didn’t eat in the whole day, so I completely devoured the broth and threw myself back on the bed, leaving my body uncovered as I continued to tremble.

Nate put the tray on the bedside table and covered my chin with a blanket.

“Four hours and eight hours,” Nate said to himself.

“Will you stay here with me?” I asked with a thread of my voice as my eyelids became heavy.

“Always,” she heard him say as I fell into a deep sleep.

Nate

I looked at the time on my computer while I was working on my case. Maya still had a couple of hours before she had to take the medicine again.

I turned my head to her. She was sleeping comfortably next to me, her breath was heavy and irregular. I laid my computer at the foot of the bed and took the wet piece of cloth that I had placed on her forehead before I slammed it into the bowl of water that I had left on the bedside table.

I squeezed it and put it back on her forehead, feeling her shiver under the touch.

I gently caressed her hot cheek, observing the features of her sweet face. Surely I would get the damn fever, but I didn’t care. I couldn’t leave her there alone. I couldn’t go home knowing no one would take care of her. I didn’t want anyone else to take care of her. I could do it, I had to do it.

I sighed again and got my computer back before I got back to work. Fortunately, I always carried my bag in the car so that I could take advantage of that moment to finish the last things before I had to wake her up and make her eat, and take her medicine again.

Taking care of Maya did not weigh me, it was like a natural instinct. My whole body wanted to be close to her, take care of her, and look after her. As if I was born to be next to her in those moments, as well as it was made to sink inside her and hear her m***s as I made her come with my d**k.

Something moved inside me during those weeks when I hadn’t seen her.

My whole being was craving to be around her, my mind was always focused on her, what she was doing, and with whom, and the thought of Maya finding someone else made something die inside of me, causing me pain in my chest.

But those weeks gave me time to think, actually think about what I wanted and it was her.

Maya

Nate came back after a few minutes with a tray of steaming plates. I sat down again as he approached the bed and placed the tray in the middle, before sitting carefully.

I wanted Maya, more than anything in the world. It wasn’t a whim, it wasn’t a crush or s*x, which, by the way, was so fabulous that I always lost my mind, completely.

I didn’t just want s*x. I wanted everything.

I wanted this.

Taking care of her at times like this. Having her take care of me. Having someone waiting for me at home after a stressful day at the office. Spending the weekend with her, maybe naked in bed.

That’s why I rushed to her that night. To talk to her. To tell her what I wanted, to let her know that she was really important to me and that it wasn’t just a whim.

Even at that moment, having her beside me, feverish and delirious, telling me how much she loved my c**k in her mouth, made me feel complete as never before in my life.

I didn’t need anything else.

Just her. And that blonde-haired buckshot that looked so much like her.

A thrill of excitement ran through my body. I couldn’t wait for her to heal so I could say it, so we could start together again.

I looked at her again, hearing my heart gallop wildly before I heard a noise.

The lock on the door was unlocked and opened.

I closed the computer and laid it on the bed, praying it wasn’t my sister, who I knew had a key to the apartment.

I walked out of the room on tiptoe, finding myself in front of Mrs. Sheppar with bags of groceries in her hand, making as little noise as possible.

She turned to the kitchen and put the bags on the table without noticing me. As I closed the door of the room, I approached slowly. I did not want to catch her unawares, but surely it would happen, so I leaned on the kitchen door and cleared my throat.

Mrs. Sheppar gave a shout and took a leek from the envelope, turning around and holding it like a knife.

I almost raised my hands laughing as she rolled her eyes and looked down at me.

“Nate,” she said, putting the leek on the table, “What are you doing here?” she asked, raising her eyebrows.

“I…” I said, looking for an excuse.

Mrs. Sheppar lit up and a gigantic smile formed on her lips, before approaching me at a brisk pace and grabbing my cheeks in her hands, she looked me in the eyes and lowered my head to her height.

“Oh I knew it would happen sooner or later,” she said cheerfully, “I was afraid you were both too proud to come forward,” she said before giving me a k**s on both cheeks and then looking me in the eye, “I saw you growing up and I love you, but if you only make her suffer once I castrate you.” She said seriously before she let me go and turned to the kitchen.

Automatically I carried a hand on my crotch holding my d**k, fearing for his life.

“It’s not my intention,” I said swallowing.

“I hope so, for you. Brad was never there for her, I knew he’d get her in trouble, but who am I to intrude in her life?” she said, starting to unpack the groceries.

I didn’t like hearing her ex-boyfriend’s name, “But that way she’d never have Axel,” I said, coming over to the table and helping her sort out the groceries.

“Axel is a small miracle. A glimmer of light in all that whirlwind of pain that a*****e has created around her,” she said, grabbing a potato with force.

“Weren’t you a big fan of his?”

“Absolutely not. As I said, he wasn’t the type for her, and I’m glad it’s over. Dead and buried and that you have a chance, that you two have a chance. I always thought you’d be perfect for each other, but you were always too stubborn, and too immature to be together. Well,” she said, grabbing an apron and tying it around the basin, “Did she eat today?” she suddenly asked, looking seriously at me.

“A broth and some tea,” I said, sitting on the table.

“Prepared by you?” she asked in surprise.

I laughed “No, I can’t cook. I ordered at the restaurant back here”.

Mrs. Sheppar rolled her eyes and shook her head. “Medicine?” she asked in an authoritarian tone.

“Taken. In a few hours she has to take the other one,” I said, looking at the clock on the wall.

“Fever?”

“Still high, I put a wet cloth on her forehead but it doesn’t help much, it dries immediately,” I said, as a soldier in front of his commander.

“You have to mix cold water with alcohol so that it disinfects more. When she wakes up, make sure that she passes the wet cloth all over her body so that it cools down,” she said as she began to take the ingredients and cut them into pieces on the sink.

“I’ll make a nice broth that you can use for today and tomorrow, so in two days I can come back and do more if she’s still bad, you’ll just have to heat it up each time and make sure it stays locked in the fridge when you don’t need it. Unfortunately, I can’t get close to her, not with Axel at home. We don’t want to risk him catching a fever like Maya’s,” Mrs. Sheppar said.

I jotted it all down mentally while she kept preparing.

“Lucky for you, when Maya is sick she sleeps all the time until she has to eat, drink or go to the bathroom so you can go and get a change at home while I prepare everything,” she said almost as if it were an order.

I nodded without contradicting anything and I got up from the table before going towards the room and closing the door behind me.

Maya had changed her position, she had laid on her side and wrapped herself even more between the covers in a way that only her face was sticking out. I smiled and approached her, picking up the piece of cloth and throwing it into the bowl with cold water.

I bent down and gave her a slight k**s on the cheek, making her sigh, before I got up and put on my shoes.

I left the room and I greeted Mrs. Sheppar momentarily, I went home to get what I needed to stay a few days with Maya.
