Let Me Love You Again -
Chapter 134
Nate
Axel was still sleepy while I put on his little toothbrush and brushed his teeth gently. He let himself be cleaned quietly without resisting, with his eyes closed and his body staggered from sleep. I had him standing on the floor of the main bathroom sink and held him with one arm around the pelvis as I quickly prepared him for the hospital.
He was still wearing his spiderman pajamas, his hair was completely ruffled, and his head slowly followed the movements I made to brush his teeth.
After the hourglass dropped the last speck, I pulled the toothbrush out of her mouth.
“Spit,” I ordered, and Axel did as I told him, then opened his eyes and looked at the hourglass.
When he saw satisfied that the hourglass was empty, he nodded proudly and then looked at me through the mirror as I rolled my eyes. I picked him up and turned on the water and then I washed his face gently.
Once clean we went back to the room. The room was dark, the sun hadn’t risen yet. That day I woke up early, I had not closed eyes all night, I had done nothing but think of Maya and Alison, the mere thought of them alone did not make me feel comfortable, even if they were in a hospital that, in theory, should be the safest place. Despite that, I had not been able to sleep, being in that bed, alone, without Maya, made me feel empty, despite having dragged Axel to sleep with me and had slept all night lying on my chest.
So I got up early and I forced Axel to get up early, yes I was the best father in the world, but he could sleep later in the hospital while I wanted to go back to my women.
I put Axel on the bed and started taking clothes out of the closet, putting them next to him. Axel looked at me and then at the clothes I had chosen for him, with his frown.
“Daddy,” he said with an exhausted sigh, using the same tone I used when I rebuked him.
I raised an eyebrow and looked at him and then put my hands on my h**s, “What is it this time?” I said, almost desperate.
This child seemed too old for his age and God if he didn’t like anything, the clothes too wrinkled threw them back in the basket of dirty laundry, light socks never matched them with precise colors, and he had the drawers divided, divided! Neutral colors, separated from each other, on the one hand, and colors from another, sorted by the degree of color, the degree! And it wasn’t Maya who set them up like that, oh no, it was me, with the little beast in my lap ordering me exactly how to put the f*****g laundry.
It took us a weekend to sort things out the way he liked, two whole days, because he didn’t like anything. Nothing!
“No good daddy,” he said, shaking his head in despair.
He got out of bed and took the clothes that I had stacked and then went to the closet and stopped in front of the doors. He looked up, his eyes blue, still sleepy, staring at me waiting, I turned mine and then he opened the doors, he passed me his clothes and put his hands on his h**s observing the clothes he had in the closet. Not satisfied he drew my attention, and then stretched his arms towards me, I picked him up to give him a better look inside the closet, so that he could choose carefully what to wear.
Axel looked at his clothes one by one, for the good five minutes, pondering carefully what the outfit of the day should be. After thinking and observing, he pointed to a pair of dark trousers in a white T-shirt.
I frowned at him, “Are you sure? If you get dirty?” I asked.
Axel frowned at me, “Daddy,” he said in a tired tone, as if the problem was me and I didn’t understand the obvious.
“Okay okay, but if you get dirty, we’ll do the math,” I said, grabbing my clothes.
I put Axel down and I crouched in front of him, and then I started taking his pajamas off, leaving him with nothing but a diaper on. Axel took his pajamas diligently and took it to the laundry basket, because yes, he had a change for every day, a pajama for every day of the week, and if we hadn’t kept that line, He would get seizures that kept him from sleeping all night, and if Axel didn’t sleep, we wouldn’t sleep.
I sighed and quickly changed him. Finally ready and clean I put him on his feet and he immediately ran down the hall shouting cheerfully, Menomale that he had all that energy. Together we went down the stairs.
“Shall we go to McDonald’s and get Mom breakfast?” I said, taking the car keys and folding Axel’s stroller.
“Mom, Mom, Mom!” he shouted cheerfully.
*****
I entered the maternity ward pushing Axel’s stroller while eating a Nutella muffin while the other hand was holding the bag with the one for Maya. Axel put on a napkin as a gag to try not to get dirty while his face was completely covered in nutella.
I walked slowly as he hummed cheerfully. I went through some messages and emails until I got to Maya’s room door.
I stopped the stroller by the door and let Axel out, putting his pants on while he looked at me with a frown.
“Careful, Dad,” he warned me when I moved his gag.
I raised my hands defeated and took the bag with his gear, along with the bag with Maya’s gear, even though her mother had brought some clothes yesterday, she told me to bring more.
I left the stroller outside the door and opened, letting Axel through first, who skipped happily.
“Mommy!” he said happily as we walked in.
He ran cheerfully to the bed, where Maya was sitting with her legs bent, on which Ali was resting. Maya had taken off her hospital gown and put on a pair of leggings and a T-shirt, her hair tied in a tail, and her radiant face as she held Alison by her hands, her eyes open.
As soon as Axel called her, Maya looked away, watching Axel walk with his little legs towards her. He approached the bed and handed her the muffin bag while I approached her with her milk and coffee.
“For you!” Axel said.
“Hmm, I’m honored,” Maya said, taking the bag.
I put the cup on the coffee table next to the bed and then I bent down to k**s it, I sighed in relief when our lips touched, letting its scent invade my senses. Maya put a hand in my hair and separated my lips, allowing my tongue to gently collide with hers. She also sighed to the contact.
“Good morning… also… to… you… love,” she said between k****s.
I laughed and gave her another k**s before rubbing her nose against her “How’s my other woman?” I said, looking at Alison as I took Axel and put him on the bed.
“Agitated, she didn’t want to sleep much tonight, she doesn’t seem to like the hospital,” Maya sighed as I took Ali and laid her on my chest, kissing her on the forehead.
Maya settled better on the bed and then took the muffin, starting to eat it together with Axel who finished eating his, I took the milk and coffee and handed it to her while she ate voraciously.
“Don’t they feed you here?” I said, watching her eat with taste.
“Yes, but it sucks what they give me, last night they gave me a puke puree,” she said with a full mouth.
“What are your manners? You don’t talk with your mouth full,” I said, caressing Ali.
Maya looked at me frowning and then swallowed the loot in her mouth, “I think you don’t mind when my mouth is full,” she said with a raised eyebrow.
“You’re extremely sexy with a full mouth,” I winked.
Maya nodded satisfied and returned to eat while Axel ran out of his muffin, then looked at his hands dirty with nutella, pushing them in front of him and trying to get them away from his body, as if they had who knows what.
“No good,” Axel said wide-eyed, “No, no, no, no,” he began to say, shaking his head.
Maya laughed and took a few wipes and then went to clean Axel’s dirty face and dirty hands, while he stood still like a statue, stiff and taut looking at all that dirt on him.
Once clean he nodded satisfied and went to put on Maya’s legs while she finished eating and he yawned satiated.
“What time did you get up this morning?” he said, beginning to drink his milk and coffee.
“I didn’t sleep,” I sighed as I sat comfortably next to her with Ali in my arms.
“Why?”
“Because did I miss you, mon amour” I said bending down to give her a k**s “When they let you out? I want you back in our bed, it’s too big and empty without you,” I said.
“Tomorrow I think, I haven’t talked to the doctors yet. You know we can’t have s*x?” she said to nochalance.
“What? excuse me?” I asked, standing up and looking at her.
“No s*x for the next six weeks, Mr Dare,” Maya said.
“Mister Dare” repeated Axel’s yawning.
“Why?” I asked frowning.
“Because my v****a is still fragile after I let out a baby, Nate, I also have a few stitches, so no s****l activity of any kind,” Maya said as she laid the empty glass.
“Why wasn’t I warned about all this?” I asked in shock.
Maya squeezed Axel and laughed, “Because it’s not optional, it’s practice.”
“I’m not so sure about this”
“And by the way, once you get home, s*x will be the last thing on your mind, trust me. Axel was quiet at night, he’d rather sleep than wake up every hour, but Ali… I don’t know if she’s lucky enough to have my peaceful peace”
“Peaceful character?!” I asked in astonishment.
“What do you mean, Dare?” Maya immediately looked at me sideways.
“That you’re the most amazing person there is in the whole world”
“I hope so for you, otherwise the veto could be prolonged,” she said innocently.
“You couldn’t resist me,” I said, looking at her.
“Don’t tempt me,” she replied.
Our moment was interrupted by Ali who stretched and yawned, my gaze rested on her, remaining stunned to look at her, enchanted by her every little movement.
*****
It was late in the morning. Axel had woken up, and now he was perky and demanding his mother’s attention after not having her around for almost two days. So Maya had changed him, cleaned him up and pampered him, while he welcomed everything, satisfied with the situation.
I had changed Ali, without flinching from my arms, I had left her only when Maya had nursed her, for the rest of the time she was always beside me, I was not able to let her go.
Someone knocked on the door and, without waiting for permission, went in like a fury. Who was it? Yes, her. The harpy.
Jess stormed in, her blond hair loose and wavy, the perfect fold, wearing a pantsuit and heels.
“May!” she said cheerfully as she approached her.
“What are you doing here? You don’t have to work?” I answered, scowling.
“Don’t be too excited to see me,” Jess said, putting the bag on the ground and approaching me, “I didn’t come for you, I came for my nephews and especially for my beautiful niece,” Jess said as he approached me.
I moved, trying to protect Ali from her harpy hands “Don’t think about it, you’ll have to stay as far away from her as possible, I don’t want her to assume your harpy habits”.
“Too late, it’s in her genes,” said Jess
“Tenes” Axel repeated.
Jess turned his attention to Axel and smiled as he opened his arms, Axel stood up and threw himself at her.
“Aunt!” he said cheerfully, embracing her.
“See? That’s the right response,” Jess said, satisfied.
“I’d throw myself into your arms, but I doubt you could hold me, Spring,” Maya replied.
“For you, I’d be doing ten gym hours a day if it meant having you in my arms, babydoll”, Jess said, winking.
Maya chuckled and then put her head on my shoulder.
“How about you coming to your aunt and uncle’s sleepover tonight?”
“Daddy?” Axel asked, looking into her eyes.
“Daddy’s not allowed,” Jess replied, and Axel shook his head.
“No daddy, no Axel,” he replied with conviction.
“Not even if you sleep in Liam and Emma’s room?” Jess asked, looking at him.
Axel turned to me and looked at me for a moment and then said “Sorry daddy”, and turned to Jess “Axel sleeps Emma”.
I opened my mouth wide and looked at Maya upset “I’ve been snubbed for a woman”
“Which is worrying because he’s only a year old and she’s his cousin,” Maya frowned.
“Oh, shut up, you just don’t want to admit that he appreciates me more than you,” Jess replied, cradling Axel, “Now that Aunt Jess has to take the little sister,” she continued to Axel and then put him on the bed.
“And who says I’ll let you take her?” I said, protecting Ali from her nasty hands.
“Or shut up,” Jess said, “Come to Aunt Jess,” and picked Ali up and stretched out, “She sure didn’t get the angel face from you, and that’s lucky,” Jess said, cradling Ali.
I rolled my eyes and put my arm over Maya’s shoulders as I passed my nose through her hair, “Please don’t call her again,” I said, and she laughed.
