Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1703
“Are you going back upstairs, Miss Bennet?” Dewey asked, seeing her get up from the table.
“Yeah.
I’ll change and head over to the office,” Rachel said.
Dewey quickly informed her, “Your belongings and the clothes you requested yesterday are in the study.
You can change there.
Your room is currently under pest control treatment right now.
I sent the exterminator this morning to clean up after Mr.
Gibson told me about the bug in your room yesterday.
The cleaning chemicals are quite strong, so you can’t go in there now.”
“Thank you,” Rachel said before going for the stairs.
Opening the door to the study, she took in the room’s simple furnishings.
Her belongings and the new clothes were neatly arranged in the center.
She checked the clothes.
As expected, they were all from popular branded shops.
Picking up a piece, she checked the size and was surprised it was accurate.
Something abruptly clicked in her mind.
She checked several more items, and they were all her size.
But how did that happen when she forgot to share her clothing size with Dewey before he went to shop?
Rachel lowered her eyes at the clothes in her hands.
How did Dewey knew her exactly clothing size? Did he just guess it right? Or was he given the information by someone?
Rachel pressed her lips into a thin line as speculations flooded her mind.
She looked around the study, hoping to find something to debunk her hypothesis.
Dewey couldn’t have known her clothing size.
It was also unlikely he just guessed right.
He would have asked her before he shopped instead of guessing her size and hoping the clothes fit her.
Since they were the only people in the villa earlier, no one else could have told Dewey that information other than Alberto.
But why did Alberto know?
Suddenly, Rachel noticed the picture frame in the corner that was perched on an easel and concealed beneath a red velvet cloth.
The mystery behind the veiled picture frame captured Rachel’s curiosity.
She walked over and extended her hand to unveil it.
Rachel lifted the red cloth, stirring up clouds of dust.
Then, the whole frame was unveiled.
It was a beautiful painting.
The painting showed a forest after the rain.
There were droplets of water at the tip of the leaves of the trees, dripping to the grassy ground.
The sun seeped through the clouds and sprinkled its sunlight on the branches.
The road was low-lying, and the rainwater had formed some puddles.
Many leaves that fell from the trees were floating in the puddles.
A winding path cut through the forest, and a figure stood in the middle.
But it was so vague that it only looked like an embellishment.
It was a girl whose hair was braided in two.
She wore a white dress and a pair of boots.
One of her feet was in the puddle while the other stepped on the Light spots where leaves and branches fell.
She was heading into the forest.
At this moment, there was a knock on the door.
“Miss Bennet, are you done changing?”
Dewey’s voice brought Rachel back to her senses.
She withdrew her gaze from the painting and covered it with the red cloth again.
Then, she straightened the hemline of her dress and opened the door.
