Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1702
Surprisingly, Alberto had a knack for cooking.
“Mr.
Gibson is fairly good at cooking.
His grandfather particularly loves the dishes he makes,” Dewey said, seemingly reading what Rachel was thinking.
Rachel grabbed a seat and took a spoonful of the porridge, which taste had exceeded her expectation.
“I didn’t know he could cook this well.
His culinary skills are better than mine.
How did he learn it? I assume he wouldn’t need to learn because he has people cook for him.
Also, his condition…” she trailed off, not wanting to seem prying.
“Well, yeah.
Because of his condition, his family rarely let him cook when they’re around.
To be honest, I also wonder when and where Mr.
Gibson learned to cook,” Dewey shared unsuspectingly.
Rachel’s eyebrow slightly raised at the information.
“I started working in one of the Gibson family’s subsidiary companies right after I graduated.
After about two years, I was transferred to the main office in Trevinia.
It was then that I first interacted with the Gibsons,” Dewey added.
“I worked for Mr.
Gibson’s brother for three years before he transferred me to work under Mr.
Gibson.”
His brows furrowed slightly as he continued, “Before I worked for them, I knew about the two brothers.
Mr.
Gibson rarely made an appearance while his brother always showed up in the public.
But in the three years I worked closely with them, I hadn’t seen Mr.
Gibson in person.
I only got to see him for the first time when I got transferred to work for him.
But his brother often boasted his culinary skills to people when he could.”
Rachel lowered her eyes at the bowl of porridge before her and fell into deep thought.
As a personal assistant, one must work closely with their employee.
That meant interacting with the employer’s family and frequenting their place.
What were the odds that Dewey had never bumped into Alberto in the three years?
“I’ve heard about Mr.
Gibson’s elusiveness in the public eye.
But he seems more mysterious than I imagined after I heard what you’ve said,”
Rachel said in a casual tone while stirring the porridge with the spoon.
“I heard from his brother before that Mr.
Gibson spent most of his time recuperating outside of town, which was why he was rarely around with the family,” Dewey responded, still unsuspecting.
Alberto’s recent behavior towards Rachel had extinguished any reservations he had about her.
If it weren’t Rachel, Dewey would have probably changed the subject.
Rachel’s curiosity about Alberto grew even stronger after Dewey’s accounts.
Recuperating outside of town? Even so, it was a bit strange that Dewey had never met Alberto in those three years he frequented their place.
Moreover, for a supposedly sickly guy, Alberto seemed to be so oddly self-reliant that he didn’t need anyone’s help.
Was it normal?
Or was he not sick at all?
Rachel was in a conjecture.
Although she was dying in curiosity, she knew Dewey wouldn’t answer even if she asked.
He also probably wouldn’t divulge anything even if he knew.
Out of the blue, Victor’s face crossed her mind.
Every time she speculated on Alberto’s identity, she would always be reminded of Victor.
Rachel took a deep breath to suppress the turbulent thoughts threatening to overwhelm her.
She couldn’t be sidetracked now.
Even though Alberto said she could come to work at any time today, she didn’t want to make a bad impression on her first day.
She represented Sullivan Group, so she shouldn’t come tardy.
