Captivation: Want Nothing But You -
Chapter 1704
“Yes, I’m done.”
The office was not far from the villa where she stayed, but it was not near, either.
It would take ten minutes on foot to get there.
Since Dewey had something urgent to deal with, he couldn’t drive Rachel to the office.
So, he could only let her walk to the office following the path.
Rachel walked around to familiarize herself with the place, so it took her almost half an hour to find the office.
Actually, it shouldn’t be difficult to find.
However, it was in a remote suburb surrounded by mountains and had many small winding roads.
People unfamiliar with the neighborhood would either take a fork in the road or the wrong way.
The project office was set up in a villa with a front yard bigger than where Rachel stayed.
There was a glass room on the left side where people could relax.
But in the middle of the room was a long table.
She guessed it must be a temporary conference room.
This villa was a three-story building with a small attic on the top floor.
The first and second floors were the offices, while the third floor was the residence of the project team members.
On the other hand, the small attic was Alberto’s temporary office.
Rachel looked at the building in front of her.
She liked the environment of this place.
She must say that working here was also a kind of enjoyment.
“Hi there! Are you looking for someone?”
At this moment, someone came out of the conference room with a laptop and saw Rachel standing at the door.
Since Rachel didn’t look familiar, she asked the question in confusion.
When Rachel looked at the woman, her eyes fell on the woman’s ID badge.
The woman’s name was Karen Marshall.
“Hi! I’m here for the project.
I think we are colleagues.” Rachel walked up to the woman and took the initiative to introduce herself.
“I’m Rachel Bennet.”
Karen looked her up and down.
“You are also part of the project? But I’ve never heard of your name.
Are you sure you came to the right place? Do you have any idea what we do here?”
The project was already halfway through when Rachel joined the team, so she didn’t know much about it.
And Alberto probably had not mentioned her to the other team members.
So, she wasn’t surprised that Karen didn’t recognize her.
“I’m very sure I am in the right place.” Rachel was neither humble nor pushy.
She smiled and added, “And, of course, I know what you do here.”
Karen frowned.
Maybe it was her pride that made her tone sound unfriendly.
“You know? Then, tell me what are you here for?”
Those who could join this project team were elites filtered from tens of thousands of candidates.
Every team member treasured each other’s talents, but they were also proud of themselves.
It was just that their arrogance did not harm anyone.
“This project is related to the medical field, and it is being spearheaded by the Gibson family.
Am I right?”
Karen was obviously surprised.
She was stunned for a moment.
“And as for what I am here for, I’m afraid I cannot answer you now.”
Rachel curled her lips slightly.
Karen was now convinced that Rachel was indeed a part of their project team.
When she thought of her hostile attitude towards Rachel just now and Rachel’s competence in answering her questions, she felt a little embarrassed.
She reached out and said amiably, “Hello, Rachel.
My name is Karen Marshall.
Nice to meet you.”
