Why deceive me??
50. You Aren't Katie

Once she held the doorknob, the receptionist ran over and held her hand.

"What do you think you're doing?" She asked, hoarsely.

"Let go of me," Ronnie said and pushed her aside. She entered the office and saw Damon sitting on his office swivel chair. Once she was inside, the receptionist ran to her and held her by the hair.

"You gold-digger. I asked you not to enter the boss's office," She yelled at Ronnie

"Damon, she's hurtin' me," Ronnie whined.

Damon turned his face to look at her. He had a disapproving gaze.

"What is happening?" He asked.

"I told this slum here not to come into the office and she didn't comply," The receptionist said, confidently.

Damon's face got twisted in anger.

"Who did you just call a slum?" He asked, angrily.

*******

"I'm sorry sir," She pleaded in fear.

"Get out," He ordered

The receptionist fled without a second thought.

Once she was out the door, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Damon walked toward Ronnie and hugged her.

"I assure you that wouldn't happen again," He assured her

Ronnie smiled meekly and hugged him too.

"How was your day?" She asked

"Stressful but not anymore," He said and carried her off the floor

Ronnie gasped. "What are you doing?" She asked him.

"Don't worry, no one's gonna come in here," He said and Ronnie blushed.

He placed her on his desk.

Sara parked in front of Cistern company in her latest BMW and smiled to herself. It was gonna be a fun day. She told herself. Damon's mother had ordered her to go to the office. "Where are you going?" She asked.

"I'm going to hang out with a couple of friends," Sara replied.

"Can't you see things early? Must I always spell it out?" Ayra asked.

"I don't understand, mother," Sara said.

"That b*tch has gone out. Probably to meet her lover. I think you should do something immediately," Ayra said

"What are you insinuating?" Sara asked, unsure.

"Go to Damon's office. You ain't need to waste this dress for some girly meeting. Go get him," Mrs. Ayra replied.

"But I can't just show up in front of his office unannounced," Sara argued.

Mrs. Ayra rolled her eyes.

Sara smiled knowingly.

She walked briskly toward the elevator with an air of authority, as the employees stared at her in wonder. While some who couldn't contain their curiosity whispered. "Who is she?" One asked

"I don't know. Judging from her appearance, I'd say she also wants to apply for the post of secretary," Another replied.

"Well, I wish her luck," The first sighed and continued with her computer.

Once she reached the floor of Damon's office, she was met by the receptionist.

"If you don't have an appointment with Mr. Damon, please do well to evacuate the premises," She said, uninterested to look at the person in front of her.

Sara scoffed angrily. "What nerve. Who employed an idiot like you?"

The receptionist looked at Sara from the head down to her toe then sneered.

"Yeah, you're one of them," She said, turned her head away, and continued what age was doing previously.

Sara felt irritated and walked toward Damon's office.

The receptionist didn't dare follow her for fear she might lose her job if she does.

Sara barged into the office just at the same moment Damon was leaning close to get a kiss from Ronnie. He stopped midway to view what caused the interruption. Sara saw the scene and felt a growing anger within her.

"Oh, did I interrupt a romantic moment?" She asked.

Ronnie sat still, without looking at Sara.

"What are you doing here?" Damon asked.

"Why shouldn't I be here?" Sara asked

"Sara, I would ask one more time. What are you doin' here?" Damon said. He could feel his anger growing rapidly.

"Get out," He said

"I won't. Mum asked me to come here," Sara said

"Why?" He asked.

"Because she sees me as a perfect daughter-in-law," Sara said, proudly.

"To who?" He asked, almost laughing

Sara was perplexed and angry. "Well, your marriage to her is just on a piece of paper, and I love you," Sara whined

Damon glanced at Ronnie and saw a glint of pain in her eyes.

"And where did you get that nonsense piece of information?" He asked

Sara rolled her eyes. But a flash of annoyance could be seen in them.

"Since when did you two start going so romantically toward each other?" She asked and scoffed.

Damon looked at her coldly and turned to his telephone.

"If you don't want to lose your job, come to my office," He ordered.

"Who are you calling? Your rude and stupid receptionist?" Sara asked.

Damon ignored her and went to Ronnie. He held her and placed her head on his chest.

A few moments later, two bodyguards came into the office and frowned.

"Sir," One said

"You know what to do," He replied.

The two guards dragged the struggling Sara out of the office.

"This isn't the last of it. You'll come back to meet me, Katie," She yelled as she was being dragged out.

Once there were out the door, she freed herself and frowned.

"You don't have to embarrass me more than this," She said and stormed off.

Once she was outside his office in the hallway, she noticed the inquisitive eyes of all the employees. She stopped on her track and yelled.

"What? Never seen a beautiful lady walking out of the office, you zombies?" She yelled and stormed off toward her car.

"I said it, she was insane," One said.

Damon smiled as he stroked Ronnie's hair.

"I'm sorry that happened," He said.

"It's ok, I'm contented with all these," She replied.

Damon looked at her, unsure of what to say.

"Katie," He called.

"Yes," She answered

"Are you sure this is you?" He asked

"What do you mean?" Ronnie said, feeling a little uncomfortable seeing where the topic was headed.

"I mean, you aren't Katie, right?" He asked

Ronnie gulped.
