The Mafia's Good Girl -
The Mafia’s Good Girl – Chapter 54
~ Violet ~
Violet kept her promise to Damon. She never took her eyes off of him and she never left his side. After a few moments, Damon passed out from all the bleeding, and Violet was freaking out. But luckily for them, the battle ended and Beau and the guys quickly came to his aide.
“We need to get him to a hospital!” Violet told them.
“We can’t go to hospitals…” Beau replied.
“What do you mean?” she yelled. “He’s gonna die!”
The guys thought fast and they carried Damon into the car parked nearby. Beau was driving and Violet sat in the back with Damon and another guy. Damon’s head was resting on her lap while the other guy put pressure on his wound to stop the bleeding.
Please, Damon… stay with me.
Beau still insisted he couldn’t bring them to the hospital, but he brought them to the next best thing. Minutes later, they arrived at Dr. Lee’s Manhattan home. Dr. Lee, who had been laid off by Damon months prior, was shocked to see Violet and the guys showing up at her door at 2 AM in the morning. But she knew better than to ask questions. She simply opened her home, let the guys brought Damon into her living room, and she helped got the bullet out.
Violet watched in horror as Damon’s b***d trickled and stained the floor and carpet of Dr. Lee’s home. He was laid down on the couch and Dr. Lee raced inside to grab her emergency surgery kit. She came back moments later with her bag and a bottle of alcohol.
Everything was happening so fast, Violet felt like in a trance. The next thing she knew, the doctor was pulling out a bullet from the side of Damon’s body and stitching the skin closed.
“The bullet almost got his kidney, but thankfully it didn’t,” Dr. Lee told Violet after she did the emergency surgery. “It’d be a whole other story if it did,”
Violet thanked the doctor and watched as Damon slept through the night. Dr. Lee wanted to inspect her for her wounds, but Violet assured her that she was fine. The doctor then went to help Damon’s guys who also got injured during the fight. More cars continued arriving at the doctor’s home and there were about ten guys with bullet wounds and other injuries, but luckily none of them were fatal.
Violet stayed with Damon until early in the morning when Adrian and Talia came from the airport. Adrian was mortified when he saw the damage, but Talia kept reminding him that at least no one died.
With Damon still unconscious, Adrian took the charge of cleaning up the mess. He made sure the police stayed off their radar and prepared for any retaliation from the Maranzano family. In the meantime, he ordered for Damon and the others to be transported back to the estate where they would be safe. Dr. Lee was also reinstalled as the house doctor.

As Damon was being transferred back to the estate, Violet stayed with him and held his hand. Talia watched in silence as the ambulance brought the three of them back home. Damon looked pale as a ghost and there were all sorts of machines hooked up to his body. It broke everyone’s hearts to see Damon in this condition. He was always so strong and so full of life, for most people in the estate Damon was a god. But at this moment in time, he was just as weak as any other mortal humans.
Violet let out a deep breath as she held Damon’s hand in hers. Her thumb grazed his knuckles gently and soothingly. Then she traced circles on his skin and laced his fingers with hers. She touched his hand so many different ways hoping she would get a reaction out of him, but he was just quiet and still.
Please wake up. I promise I’ll never leave your side again…
Violet stared at Damon’s face for the longest time. She remembered the moment she saw his face last night, right before Leo was about to rape her. She had never seen anyone as angry as he was. And when he put his jacket around her and wrapped her body in his arms, at that moment she knew what mattered most in this life.
I should’ve never left. Being with you is the most important thing in my life.
After arriving back at the estate, Damon was moved to his bedroom and Violet was there right next to him. She sat on a chair next to the bed and held his hand. Even though she was tired and her whole body ached, she didn’t stop even for a minute.
The only time she stopped holding his hand was when Dylan came to see her. Apparently, Dylan was being held hostage in the estate. He was trying to record a conversation between him and Damon, but Damon caught him, and he was ordered to stay there.
Adrian then told Dylan that he could leave, but he warned Dylan not to try anything like this ever again. On his way out, Dylan stopped by Damon’s room to talk with Violet. Dylan was remorseful when he heard about Violet’s kídnapping. He felt responsible because he left her and she was chasing after him when she got taken away.
“Vi…” Dylan said cautiously as he entered the room. His jaw fell to the floor when he saw Damon lying unconscious on the bed and Violet’s body was covered in bruises.
“Oh, God. Are you okay?!” he quickly went up to her, but Violet flinched in pain when he touched her.
“I’m fine,” she said, rubbing her arms with her hands.
Dylan looked at Damon and then at Violet. Unable to handle the guilt, he put his gaze down and shook his head. “I’m so sorry, Vi…” he said.
“It’s fine,” she said. “The good news is everyone’s okay. I can’t say the same about the people who kídnapped me though,”
Violet threw her gaze to the side as if it was painful for her to remember what happened last night.
“Did they hurt you?” he asked.
Violet shook her head and sighed, “Damon saved me before they could,”
Dylan also sighed in relief. He had heard stories about the Maranzano family and how notoriously violent they were. He didn’t know what he’d do with himself if something happened to Violet.
“That’s good,” he said as he stretched out his hand. “Let’s go home, Vi,”
Of course Dylan would ask her to go home. Their home was a safe place for Dylan. He wanted to get his sister as far away from these people as possible. But instead of agreeing with him, Violet shook her head.
“I’m not going,” she said.
“What do you mean you’re not going?” he asked.
“That means I’m staying here,” she stated matter-of-factly. “I promised him I wouldn’t leave,”
Violet’s eyes went to Damon while Dylan frowned at her disapprovingly.
“Violet—“
“He almost died for me, Dyl,” she cut him off.
“Yeah, but he was the one who got you into that mess in the first place!”
“No,” she said firmly. “I got myself into this mess. Everything I did up until now, it has all been my choices…”
Everything from making that deal to following him to Italy… Leaving him and getting into that cab… everything was my choice. Some were good choices and some were bad, but they’re all mine.
“Violet…” Dylan tried to reason with his sister.
“Someone should go home and take care of mom,” she replied. “She’s gonna be worried none of us came home last night,”
And by someone, I mean you.
Dylan let out another sigh and raked his hair with his hand. He knew Violet was as stubborn as a mule and he couldn’t change her mind.
“Alright, fine,” he said finally, “But after he wakes up, you have to come home too. Mom’s been looking for you,”
“I know,” Violet nodded her head reassuringly. “I will,”

Keeping her promise to Damon was easy, but keeping her promise to Dylan was hard. As she promised Damon, Violet never left his side even after three days had passed. But that also meant that she hadn’t been home to see her mother in three days.
It wasn’t that Violet didn’t want to come home, but she didn’t want to leave Damon in case he wakes up. She wanted to be the first person who greets him. But 72 hours had passed and Damon was still not waking up.
Violet was worried, but Dr. Lee said that everything was fine and Damon was only resting. She said he had been under a lot of stress lately, and not just because of what happened three nights ago.
“He hasn’t been able to sleep properly for five years,” the doctor said. “Maybe his body is taking advantage of this time to recover,”
Five years…?
“It’s because of the Red Wedding,” Talia explained. “He always has nightmares, and no sleeping pills in the world could help,”
Dr. Lee then excused herself and left the room, leaving Violet with Talia and Adrian. According to the doctor, there was nothing they could do but wait until Damon wakes up on his own accord.
“I told him not to do it,” Adrian sighed and cracked his neck. “But of course, he won’t listen to me,”
Adrian and Talia were standing by the foot of the bed while Violet sat on her usual chair next to Damon. They all looked tired disheveled, especially Violet and Adrian. Violet hadn’t sleep for days and neither did Adrian. He was busy 24/7, cleaning up after the mess Damon created.
“What’s gonna happen to us now?” Talia asked her husband. “Victor Maranzano just lost all his sons. He’s not going to stay quiet,”
“I know, but it’s not up to me to make the decisions,” Adrian replied. “All I can do is take care of the mess, but he still has to be the one leading us,”
Adrian and Talia looked back at Damon who was still sleeping peacefully. Violet tightened her grip on his hand and gently caressed his skin.
“He’s going wake up soon,” she said. “I can feel it,”
Adrian and Talia exchanged a look. Then he turned to Violet and said, “I hope you’re right,”
Violet didn’t say anything in response. She kept her gaze on Damon and continued stroking his hand.
“Come on, it’s late,” Talia said as she pulled her husband to the door. “Let’s let them rest,”
Adrian followed Talia to the door, but then he stopped for a moment and turned to Violet again.
“He’s crazy about you, you know that, right?”
Violet took her gaze off Damon and turned back to Talia and Adrian. She nodded his head at him and said, “I know,”
They exchanged a small smile and Talia and Adrian then left the room. Violet turned her eyes back to Damon and the smile on her face grew wider. She noted his handsome features and felt butterflies fluttering in her stomach. Staring at his long lashes, sharp nose, and strong jawline, Violet couldn’t help but gush.
Because I’m just as crazy about him too.
Violet’s hand reached out and it landed gently on Damon’s cheek. Her thumb caressed his skin and her eyes darted from his nose down to his lips. Violet didn’t know what came over her, but she felt the sudden urge to k**s him. Before she could stop herself, she leaned down, closed her eyes, and aimed for his lips.
She kissed him softly and gently, and her heart burst into flames as their lips touched. Kissing him brought out a wave of emotions that made her want to cry. She missed his touch, she missed his k****s, and she missed everything about him.
Violet let her lips lingered for a second longer before breaking off the k**s. But as she was slowly pulling away, she felt that his lips were moving as if he was kissing her back.
Did he just…?
