The Headmaster Alpha's Mate -
The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 55
As Josh and Zander packed up the remaining boxes from his rooms at the Crescent Moon pack house, they reminisced about the time when Josh was a small boy, all the tricks he had pulled and scrapes he had gotten into with Gav, Liam and Kris. Zander was filled with a sense of pride, his brother was now a man, and he knew he would make a great Alpha for Silverback.
“I am proud of you Josh, you will be a great leader.” Zander smiled at his younger brother.
“Was there ever any doubt?” Josh teased, knowing full well, that Zander had probably had lots of doubts, especially when he was with Ursula. He could not blame his brother for them.
“There was a time when I thought you were going to head down the wrong path, but thankfully you found Nicki.” Zander smiled at his brother.
“Right, just four more boxes to go, then we can head up to the academy and pick up my mate.” Josh grinned, it had only been a couple of hours, but he missed his little froggy so much.
As Josh folded the lid of the cardboard box, he pulled out the length of parcel tape, as a feeling washed over him, so strong it almost brought him to his knees. Fear, unbelievable fear.
“Zander, something is happening to Nicki!” Josh shouted, then, immediately, mind linked to her.
Chloe stood protectively before Nicki, as the rogue on the left-hand side of Ursula charged at them. Chloe took a stance, and as he approached, she waited, just as Zander had taught her, then as he opened his disgusting mouth, Chloe uppercut him under his jaw. The power that washed through her body was unprecedented, as the rogue flew backwards, the sickly crack of his neck breaking as his body connected with the wall. Instantly he changed into his human form, as he lay dead on the floor.
“We are on our own, Chloe, but Zander and Josh are on their way,” Nicki whispered to Chloe, after Josh had linked with her.
Chloe nodded, all she had to do was hold them off until her mate arrived. Looking at Ursula, she smirked.
“One down, two to go.” Chloe grinned, tilting her head to one side.
Ursula’s wolf looked at the other, and together they mounted an attack on Chloe. Nicki let out a small squeal as she saw both rogues aiming for her friend. She could not leave Chloe to fight them alone, so she began to stand at the side of her friend to help her fight. Chloe’s hand came out and pulled Nicki behind her. Seeing that she was down to just one hand as the other held Nicki, Ursula charged forward, pushing Chloe away from Nicki.
The other rogue dove at Chloe, his large dirty grey paws either side of her face as he snarled and snapped at her. Nicki let out a screech, as Ursula snapped at her, but she managed to jump up, landing on her feet on top of Chloe’s bed, then in a practiced movement she kicked the snarling wolf between the eyes, momentarily disorientating Ursula.
Chloe looked up at the wolf, she knew she had to do something, to keep fighting until her mate could get to her. Twisting onto her side, Chloe kicked out, connecting with the rogue’s hind leg, the crack of a broken bone echoed around the room. The rogue stopped, shaking its head, as if in disbelief, giving Chloe a chance to escape from under him.
As she turned, she saw Ursula once more try to snap at Nicki. Without a second thought, Chloe turned her back on her own attacker and pushed Ursula with all her strength away from Nicki. Ursula flew through the air, landing on her side across the length of the room.
Relieved, Chloe began to turn. When she realised the gravity of her mistake, Zander and Delphine’s words echoed in her mind, ‘never turn your back on an opponent’. As she spun round once again, the rogue was inches away from sinking his teeth into her face.
Delphine ran down the corridors, the rogues filed through the school, almost unchecked as the smaller pup’s ran in all directions. Seeing she was outnumbered, she took a breath, hoping back up would arrive soon. Four rogues began their attack in wolf form, and Delphine waited patiently for her own opportunity to strike.
“I need a little help here” Delphine opened the link to the pack.
As the leader of the group broke into a run, she readied herself, then jumping into the air, she twisted her body round, landing on its back, wrapping her legs around its neck, as she punched the jaw of the wolf beside her. With a twist of her body, she broke the neck of the rogue. Wasting no time, she immediately jumped off the fallen beast, as he began to change into his human form, dead on the floor. Delphine jumped once more, but this time she shifted mid air, her wolf landing on top of another rouge. She easily bit down, killing him on impact. Five more wolves began to surround her. Delphine let out a sigh of relief, whilst they were focusing on her, it was giving the younger pups a chance to escape. Taking a breath, she readied herself for the onslaught that was about to come.
Gavin ran down the corridor towards the common room, snapping and killing rogues as he went, determined to get to Amy. His heart was pounding in his chest, as three more rogues appeared before him. His mate was not a fighter, she had hailed from that useless pack, and fear that he might lose her before he had a chance to even know her, or her him, began to nip at the edges of his mind. He was on his own, Liam and Kris were fighting in the dining hall. He could not understand how the rogues were so organised, and after the battle in the pack, how there were still so many of them, here at the school. Shaking his head to refocus his mind. He launched into the leader of the three rogues, hoping to knock them down like skittles. As he grabbed the neck and shook the lead wolf, he felt canines sinking into his left flank, the pain making his grip weaken, before he managed to kill the wolf in his grasp.

Ethan stood with Ellie side by side, as they protected the vulnerable Amy, four rogues approached them. Taking a breath to steady himself, Ethan readied himself for the attack. Ellie began to shift into her wolf form. It was too early. She had a lot to learn still, however, what she lacked in tactical awareness she made up for in heart and courage, as Binks stood snarling and snapping at the approaching rogues.
“If you get injured, Binks, reach out and touch me, even with your tail.” Ethan shouted over to Ellie’s wolf. Although he was getting stronger, his gifts were healing abilities, and he still had a lot to learn about fighting. Binks gave a small nod of her head, to show understanding, her eyes never leaving the approaching wolves.
Suddenly, the rogues ran towards them, as Binks hunkered down, as if afraid, then she slid underneath one of the wolves, before turning and biting up over, grabbing what she could, an ear shattering howl of pain erupted from the rogue. Binks spat out the lump of flesh from her mouth, as Ellie shuddered inside her, realising her wolf had bit the rogue’s d**k off.
Amy stood and watched as her two friends stood bravely and began to fight. Although fear threatened to paralyze her, she knew she would do whatever she could to help. Taking the balls from the pool table, she threw one at an approaching rogue, hitting him right between the eyes, disorientating him, before Ethan shifted and snapped his neck. Two rogues remained, and began to circle the young werewolves, caging them in, waiting for the perfect opportunity to attack.
The dining hall echoed with the sounds of snarling and fighting wolves. Kris and Liam fought side by side, as some of the younger warrior trainees began to shift and jumped into the affray. As more of the younger warrior wolves shifted, so did the advantage, and it did not take too long for them to clear the dining room of rogues. Dead bodies lay across the floors, in a pool of b***d, as the remaining rogues retreated, running back out of the school and into the forest. Liam and Kris both began to run down the corridors to find Gavin and Delphine, knowing they desperately needed their help.
As Chloe looked into the jaws of her attacker, she knew she would not survive this attack, all was lost, and her heart broke for Zander, and the future they had planned together, for their unborn pups, and for her father and her mother, who had died, trusting that she would be strong enough to continue their fight for equality and fairness. She had failed, she was not strong enough. Suddenly she felt pain radiating through her body, it was like nothing she could even describe, and she longed for death to come, just so she might escape it.
The pain lasted for what felt like hours, yet it was less than a second in time when Chloe fell to her hands and knees, only it was not her hands in front of her, it was two purple fluffy paws. The rogue instantly retreated, recognising the power of a royal wolf. Sheba wasted no time, and jumped, killing him with her powerful jaws with one swift bite to the neck, before turning her attention to Ursula’s wolf.
Ursula shifted back to her human form, shocked by what she was witnessing, Nicki stood on the bed, her mouth hanging open, as she saw the large beautiful purple wolf, with a small black tip on its long bushy tail. Sheba paced towards a shaking Ursula, she would show no mercy, she had tried to attack her and her friend. Also, both Sheba and Chloe knew that if Ursula escaped with her life, then news of her being a Royal would spread like wild fire, and they needed to protect that secret for as long as possible.
Delphine grabbed the hind leg of one of the rogues, and span him around using his head as a weapon, smashing into two of the wolves beside him, before she spat the rogue out, then landed on top of them, her jaws making quick work on each of their necks. She began to rip the flesh from the bone, when she felt a sharp bite on her side, wincing in pain, from the sharp canine teeth that had sunk into her skin, she summoned all her strength to at least finish off the three she had trapped beneath her.
A loud howl echoed around the hall, as Liam bounded towards her, biting the neck of the wolf who had his stinking jaws in Delphine’s side, before turning on the remaining rogue, who looked like a young wolf. The rogue quickly retreated, running from the school, shaking with fear. They had been told that the attack on the school was more like a training exercise, that because it was Friday only a couple of weak wolves or humans would remain in the academy, the leader had lied, and the young wolf was terrified.
Kris bounded into the hallway towards Gav, his heart almost stopping in his chest as he saw his friend, his beta wolf, laid on the ground. He was still in wolf form, but was gravely injured. Two rogues stood over him, readying to tear his body apart. Kris jumped up, snarling and biting the jaws of the rogues, as Gav lay on the floor, allowing his accelerated healing to begin, even just a small amount, so that he might help kill the remaining beasts.
Finding a small amount of strength, Gavin stood, the pain in his leg and side threatening to make him fall once more, but he was a beta, he would not go down again. He refused, and so tentatively jumped at one of the rogues who Liam was fighting. Gav locked his jaw around the rogue’s ear, as it let out a loud whimper. Kris took full advantage and killed the one in front of him, before turning his attention onto the now earless wolf, snapping his neck.
Ethan, Elli and Amy were in a Mexican standoff, having a battle of who could snarl and bare their teeth the loudest. As the rogues began to approach, suddenly the filthy beasts stopped, they turned to look at each other, then broke free and ran, jumping through the glass window of the common room, escaping across the fields.
Zander and Josh ran into the school. All around them was mayhem, fallen rogues littered the floor. Zander bounded towards the Eclipse house, as he ran down the corridor, Josh on his flank towards the dorms, towards their mates. As he burst into Chloe’s room, the sight before him made Caesar shift immediately, then hunker down on his two front paws, as Jerry followed suit. Sheba stood, in all her glory, her purple fur shining as if it was covered in silver, Ursula’s head in her mouth as she spat it out and watched it roll towards her mate.
Caesar jumped up, and instantly began to nuzzle Sheba, rubbing his scent all over his mate, as Sheba returned the intimate gesture.
Nicki jumped from the bed and ran to Jerry, snuggling into his soft fur, as relief washed over her like a tidal wave.
Caesar, give me back control. Zander pleaded with his wolf, wanting to touch Sheba himself.
Caesar reluctantly allowed Zander to push forward, relinquishing his control of their shared body. Zander stood, and wrapped his arms around Sheba.
“Thank you my wolf mate, thank you for coming and saving Chloe.” He repeated over and over, to the most beautiful wolf he had ever beheld.
How do I get back to myself, Sheba? Chloe asked her wolf, desperate to hold Zander in her arms.
Brace yourself Chloe, this is going to hurt again, but not as bad as before. Sheba told her before she relinquished control.
As Sheba morphed back into Chloe she let out a cry of pain, only to find peace surrounding her as she fell into the strong waiting arms of Zander.
