The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 23

Chloe stood frozen to the floor as she watched Ethan take a bite on his back end. The sound of a loud whimper from his wolf echoed around the school grounds.

‘Get up, get up Ethan!’ Chloe screamed inside her mind.

Nicki was sobbing softly behind her, something inside Chloe began to rage, it was her own stupid idea to try and get to the pack, she had caused this, and she could not just stand there and do nothing and watch one of her friends get mauled in front of her.

As the driver’s wolf circled a limping Ethan, Chloe felt the uncontrollable need to reach out and touch Ethan’s wolf. Unsure if it would help or hinder, Chloe went with her gut, begging it wouldn’t fail her.

As she moved her injured arm to touch the fur of Ethan’s wolf, she felt a warmth running through it, the pain subsiding. The driver’s wolf launched forward, his mouth open canines elongated, he aimed for Ethan’s neck. Moving faster than she ever thought possible, Chloe spun around, as she jumped and kicked out, hitting the driver in the jaw once more. B***d spattered from the aggressor’s mouth, splashing up the walls of the school, sending him crashing to the floor. Landing on her knee, Chloe winced in pain as the gravel grazed her legs, stones entering the open wound. The driver shook his head, he was down but not out, then with determination not to fail his alpha, he turned growling loudly and began to make his way towards her, snarling loudly.

Zander waited for Jack to make the first move, it was difficult not to rush in knowing that Chloe was in danger, but patience was key to winning a fight. As he watched the face of Jack pale, he knew the wait was causing fear to rise up inside the weak alpha.

“Come on Jack, show your pack what you are made of, or are you going to submit to me and pass over your leadership, saving your own skin?” Zander taunted, wanting him to rush at him.

The taunt paid off as Alpha Jack ran to tackle Zander to the ground. Zander fell beneath the weight of the man, as he lay on top of him. Then, with the move he had shown Chloe earlier, he wrapped his legs around Jack’s waist and spun him, as quick as a flash, Zander shifted into his wolf, his teeth sinking into his neck as Caesar tore bits of his flesh and spat them out. A loud cry came from the Silverback pack members.

“Please, Alpha, show him mercy. You killed my daughter. I beg of you, not my mate as well, he will submit, we will leave the pack and never bother you again.” The voice of the Silverback Luna cried out, her body trembling.

Caesar stopped his attack, still growling at the alpha as Zander mind linked Josh.

“Ask him if he submits”, Zander ordered.

Josh walked onto the field, then looking down at Jack Aitchison he shouted,

“Do you Alpha Aitchison, submit to Alpha Colton, relinquish your pack and land in exchange for mercy.” His authoritative voice carried across the field.

“Y… yes, I Alpha Aitchison submit, and transfer the Silverback pack to Alpha Colton” Jack whimpered.

“Luna Aitchison, have whoever has our Luna return her to school immediately”, Josh called out again.

“I cannot reach him. He has blocked me.” The Luna sobbed.

Caesar let out a growl that shook the ground beneath them. He wanted his mate safe. Zander seized control from Caesar, shifting back to his human form.

“Take both the former Alpha and Luna of the Silverback Pack to the dungeons, have a healer come help with his wounds. Do not let them leave.” Zander ordered.

“If one hair on my mate’s head is hurt, I will finish what we started, do you understand?” he growled out.

“Yes Alpha” Jack bared his neck in submission as his mate ran to his side, tears running down her cheeks.

“Thank you” she whimpered over and over again to both Zander and Josh.

Shifting back into Caesar, with Josh shifting to Jerry, the pair of alpha brothers begin to run through the forest in the direction of the school.

At the window of the east tower that was the dorm for the Half Moon house, the young pups stood aghast watching the fight below them in stunned silence. A girl of 15 blinked, she had accessed her wolf a month ago, and she knew she could not just stand here and watch on and do nothing. Her Alpha’s mate, the future Luna of the pack was in danger, along with Alpha Joshua’s mate, and her young wolf snarled inside her.

Pushing through the crowds of youngsters, she ran towards the door.

“Ellie, where are you going?” a boy of around 9 years old asked her, his voice laced with fear for his older sister.

Ellie hunched down to the same height as her brother, then gently took hold of his shoulders.

“Tom, I need you to be brave and look after the others. Close the door behind you and lock it. Do not answer to anyone other than me or a member of our pack.” Ellie smiled as tears stung her brother’s eyes, then summoning his bravery, he puffed up his little chest and blinked them away.

“Be careful” he begged his sister.

“I will. Now look after everyone, and stay here, no matter what. Promise me Tom.” Ellie implored the young boy.

“Promise”, Tom said with determination.

Ellie turned then ran out of the door, waiting to hear her brother lock it behind her. She ran full speed down the staircase, then reached the side entrance to the school, and ran outside. As she rounded the building, she shifted. It was painful, as she was not yet used to the experience, but that did not matter; her Luna was in danger, and she needed help.

When she finished shifting, Ellie’s wolf stood on all four paws, her fur long and black, with white markings on her feet and chest.

“Let’s go Binks”, Ellie instructed her wolf as she ran towards the affray.

Nicki stood, watching on in horror as the driver’s wolf launched himself towards her friend. Ethan was limping badly, unsure what to do. Looking around her, she bent down and picked up a hand full of the gravel, then threw it with all her might at the wolf. Hitting him in his face, the wolf shook his head, and halted for a split second, before growing even angrier. Seeing the stones were buying Chloe precious seconds, Nicki bent down and gathered some more, and threw them again, thankful when they reached their target.

Chloe watched on, taking a breath. She was sorry for causing this, but she had no time to dwell on it, she had to continue to fight, with everything she had. Suddenly, a small black wolf with long fur and white markings ran up from behind the driver’s wolf, and bit down on his tail.

With a loud cry, the driver’s wolf spun round, flicking off Ellie’s wolf binks, as she crashed down onto the ground. Ethan summoned up his last bit of energy.

“Come on Ben, we can do this” he encouraged his new wolf, as he launched once more to try and grab the driver’s wolf’s neck.

Chloe jumped into the air and landed on the back of the angry wolf. She clamped her legs around his stomach and squeezed with all her might, as Bink’s, Ellies wolf recovered and grabbed hold of his tail once more, locking her jaw to get a good grip.

Ben jumped up, and latched onto the aggressive wolf’s neck, clasping his jaw as tight as he could. The wolf let out a whimper as he fell to the ground onto his side, Chloe trapped underneath his large body.

Binks bit through the tail of the wolf, then spitting it out she dove onto his hind leg and latched on as hard as she could.

Nicki watched, it was now or never, she needed to get the giant wolf off her friend as he crushed her underneath his fallen body. Running over, she kicked him repeatedly in the stomach, as Ben growled, still trying to shake the neck of the wolf.

Chloe lay trapped, her pain radiating through her leg and h**s, as she felt a trickle of b***d oozing from her thigh. She knew she had a break, and would guess it was a compound fracture, but she could not give up, she had to find something more to end this fight, too save her friends, and the young girl who had shown immense bravery.

Grabbing at the fur on the wolf’s back, Chloe ripped chunks out, throwing it to the side, anything she could do to help weaken him further.

Suddenly, loud growls echoed through the forest. Chloe sighed with relief, recognising instantly the large black wolf who ran into the affray, followed by Jerry.

Caesar grabbed the neck of the wolf as Ben slackened his jaw, and hobbled away to the side lines. Jerry followed, grabbing hold of the wolf’s back end, allowing Binks to move away.

Together, Caesar and Jerry lifted the wolf off Chloe, as Nicki ran and dragged her free from under it. A sickening crack echoed around the building, as Caesar snapped the wolf’s neck, his body turning back to his human form, he lay slayed on the gravel in a pool of b***d.

Caesar shifted back to Zander, as he ran towards Chloe holding her to him, his hand immediately putting pressure on her wound. He shook with anger seeing the bone protruding out of her leg.

Ethan crawled in his human form towards Chloe as he reached out to touch her and give her some of his healing power.

“No Ethan, you need your healing for yourself, you are injured. Dr Keto is on his way”, Zander sighed.

The young man had given his all to protect his Luna, and Zander would not ask him to do more. Chloe was injured, but it was not life-threatening.

Josh ran over to Nicki, gathering her into his arms, holding her close to his chest.

“The children, Josh, they were watching, we need to go to them, make sure they are okay” Nicki cried out.

Josh nodded his head, then whispered in her ear.

“We will talk about this later, mate.”

A shiver rushed through Nicki as she nodded, then, leading her by the hand, Josh went to see if the pups were okay.

“Erm Josh, maybe grab something to put on” Nicki whispered.

“We are wolves, nobody cares” Josh sighed out, happy his mate was uninjured but still filled with anger that she had agreed to this stupid stunt she and Chloe had tried to pull.

Zander cradled Chloe in his arms, stroking her hair, as he turned to Ellie.

“Ellie, that was very brave of you.” He praised the girl,

“Are you injured?” he asked.

“No Alpha” Ellie shook her head, she was fine, but it was clear neither her Luna nor Ethan were okay.

“Is the Luna going to be, okay?” Ellie asked, her voice laced with concern.

“She will be just fine. Go get some clothes, Ellie”, Zander ordered softly.

Ethan sat on the ground, b***d dripping from the open bite mark on his leg.

“I can manage if you want me to heal the Luna” he offered again.

“No Ethan, I thank you for helping save my mate’s life, but you have done enough. Rest, let your wolf begin to heal you.” Zander ordered.

Chloe whimpered into Zander’s chest, not from the extent of her pain, but because she could feel the anger radiating off him, and she knew it was aimed at her.

“I am sorry” she whispered, tears falling onto her cheeks.

“We will talk about this later”, Zander sighed.

The sound of wheels crunching the gravel announced the arrival of Dr Keto, as he pulled up in a white minivan, a bus pulled in behind, ready to take the pups back to the pack house. Caroline and her mate Duncan jumped out of the bus, running straight towards their daughter.

“Ellie, are you okay?” Caroline shouted out with worry.

“I am fine mum, so is Tom”. Ellie smiled at her mother.

“Caroline, you should be very proud of your daughter, she is a special girl, and has a great wolf” Chloe said, her voice cracking with emotion. She could never repay the bravery this young girl had shown, or the help she had given to save her.

“Thank you, Luna” Caroline nodded, then gathered her daughter into her arms, as Duncan rushed into the school to reach their son.

Zander watched on feeling his anger disappear as Chloe scrunched up her face against the pain, when Dr Keto examined her.

“Her leg is broken, I need to get her to the pack hospital and reset it, her wolf is trying to heal her Alpha, but we need to give her a helping hand.” Andrew announced.

Zander nodded his head, as the Doctor ran to gather a stretcher from his small minivan that doubled up as the pack ambulance.

“I am really sorry Zander; I know you are angry with me,” Chloe whispered again.

“I am angry, but more than that, Chloe, I am disappointed” Zander sighed out.

Chloe looked downwards, shame filling her. Her mate was disappointed in her, and that was a lot worse than just anger.
