The Headmaster Alpha's Mate
The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 123

“Bloody hell!” Gav shouted out as he watched the breaking news in disbelief.

“What’s up?” Zoe asked whilst sitting on Kris’s lap, as he massaged her aching shoulders, after their afternoon training session. Training at Crescent moon, and Silverback pack was a lot harder than when she was with Jorvick.

“Look, some fucker has blown up the Skye bridge, hundreds killed, must be half the f*****g Island.” Gav said in utter dismay.

Zander walked into the living area of his pack house and stood watching the news in the corner of the room as his brothers Beta continued to talk about the c*****e that was being played out on the screen.

“Chloe, I think you should come see this, I get a feeling this is to do with us but need your gift of discernment to be sure.” Zander linked with his mate.

Chloe frowned slightly, then smiled at Douglas, as he continued to tell her about the improvements, they had made to the Ronsay pack.

“Sorry, my Alpha calls.” Chloe giggled slightly excusing herself, then made her way towards the pack house.

“Bring Hamish and Douglas with you.” Zander commanded; his voice laced with frustration.

Chloe turned towards Douglas again.

“Actually, he wants me, you and Hamish.” She informed the guest Alpha.

“Do you know what for?” Douglas asked.

“No, just that I need to see something and discern what it is.” Chloe shrugged, trying to downplay her interaction with Zander, but she knew by the tone of his voice, whatever it was, it was far from good.

Douglas nodded, linking with Hamish to meet him and Chloe in the pack house, after he had finished showering following his first full training session with the Crescent Moon Warriors.

As Chloe entered the living room, she saw all the wolves sat opened mouthed, watching the news.

“What the hell is this?” she asked.

“That is the bridge to Skye, blown to smithereens with hundreds killed.” Zander stated his tone matter of fact.

Chloe moved forward and watched intently as Douglas placed his hands over his face in horror.

“Shit.” Chloe whispered, then glanced over to Zander, who nodded his head.

“We need a chat.” Zander stated to Douglas.

“Aye, I will have Hamish come straight to your office.” Douglas muttered, still not believing what was playing out before his eyes.

Zander opened the door to his office, as Hamish ran down the corridor, his long red hair wafting in the breeze he was creating by the speed of his run. Once they were in the office, Zander closed the door, then turned to them both.

“Tell me you did not know about this!” he all but shouted.

“I promise you Alpha, we had no clue.” Hamish stated.

Chloe knew the Alphas were as shocked as they were about what was happening. Calmly she turned to Zander, so that he understood they were not to blame.

“Zander, I think it was Alpha Martin.” Chloe whispered, not wanting to anger her mate further, but she had to be honest with him.

Zander placed both his hands behind his head and let out a low g***n.

“What the f**k was he thinking?” he sighed out in frustration.

The Alpha phone on his desk began to ring, Zander growled as he answered it, he really did not want to have to report anything to the others, until he had more information himself.

“Zander.” He growled out.

“Alpha Zander, my king. This is Alpha Martin. I have a confession, and I am willing to pay the price for my actions. But you must understand, I had to stop Skye from attacking my pack, to halt them before they even began this war.” Martin protested.

“Do you not know what you have done? We offered you protection, to help you, and now, you have gone and done this. Do you not realise, we had right on our side, we would never have attacked first, only reacted to an attack on us, but you have destroyed that! Your actions have put us in the wrong. You have even killed humans with what you have done. Do you not know how idiotic this was?” Zander bellowed.

“Alpha, I disagree, they were coming for us, they would have attacked from the North, whilst you were attacked from the South, the East and the West. You would have been surrounded; you could never have won.” Martin protested.

“Martin, do you think we did not know that? Do you think we are not prepared for that? We were, it was under control, we were never supposed to strike first. You have killed humans Martin! You have made our cause no better than what those evil Alphas stand for.” Zander growled out in distaste.

“Alpha, I wish there had been another way, but there wasn’t.” Martin sighed out.

“YES, THERE WAS!” Zander bellowed.

“You could have come here, you could have received our protection, you could have fought a good fight, not destroy innocent people, who were going about their lives. Men women and children, doing normal things, until you blew them up. You may think you were fighting for what was right, but you went the wrong way about it.” Zander growled out in frustration, not understanding how this man could not see the damage he had caused.

“Alpha King, I will face the consequences of my actions, I will stand trial, but I ask only one thing. I commanded my Beta to accompany me, I ask that he be allowed to live in peace and run the pack for me until my son is old enough to take on his responsibilities.”

“Do you think there is time for us to have a trial! NO! We are at war, and now, we will be under a retaliative attack sooner than planned.” Zander shouted.

“We did what we had to, they were coming for us, all’s fair in love and war my King.” Martin protested.

“No Alpha, two wrongs never, ever make a right! Yes, you have wiped out the immediate threat from Skye, but you failed to see the bigger picture, that now Ullswater, Tynedale, Berwick and Jorvic will come for us, within the next day or so, meaning we have no time to help train warriors, you have placed everyone in greater danger, and you broke our sacred law. You killed humans! On top of that, any pack that were undecided will see that we struck first and will now possibly side with Ullswater.” Zander retaliated.

“My Alpha King, I throw myself at your mercy. I will present myself to you tomorrow, where you can hold me prisoner, so that I can attest for my crimes.” Martin replied, then hung up the phone.

“f*****g i***t!” Zander bellowed.

Chloe went to her mate, placing her hand on his back, to sooth him. Taking a deep inhale of his mate’s scent, the touch of her calming both him and Caesar, he turned to Hamish and Douglas.

“He has to pay for his crimes.” Zander whispered.

“Yes, my King, I am afraid he must. As much as it pains me to say this, there is no other way.” Hamish agreed, his face downcast. Martin and Pat were good friends, but he had aloud fear to cloud his judgement, and although what he had done had taken out an enemy, blowing up a bridge made by humans, he had not only killed them, but he had also drawn potential attention to the werewolf world, as news crews would flood the area for days. Politicians from far and wide will visit the aftermath, probably visits from the human royal family would follow, it is scrutiny we do not need.” Hamish agreed, as Douglas nodded, a small tear in his eye.

“We need to let everybody know, Chloe can you oversee the pack, whilst I make some difficult calls.” Zander asked.

Chloe nodded, and with a sad sigh she left the Alpha office, where she began to attend to the pack members.

Nicki sat on the edge of the training field with Chloe, drawing faces in the snow with her fingers, as she let her best friend rant. She had to agree, what Martin had done was wrong, but unlike her Princess, Nicki understood that he acted out of fear, rather than malice. A rustling in the bushes behind disturbed the Luna’s and quick as a flash, Chloe grabbed Nicki pulling her behind her, then got into a fighting stance.

“Calm down Luna, it is just us, covered in s**t once more to mask our scent.” Faith’s voice laughed out.

Chloe let out a sigh of relief, then ran to her Beta and hugged her so tight.

“Ethan, get your a*s to the edge of the training field now.” Chloe linked with her friend.

“Hey Chloe, are you okay?” Faith asked, as she felt her Luna begin to sob in her arms.

“I gather you haven’t heard the news?” Nicki whispered.

Faith looked at Chloe and shook her head, as Luke joined them.

“What news Luna?” Luke asked.

“Alpha Martin from the Shetland pack, blew up the Skye bridge, wiping out almost all of the pack, only he has killed humans as well. This means our side was the first to strike, and innocent people are dead.” Chloe sobbed.

“Does Peter know?” Faith asked.

“Zander is calling everyone now.” Chloe sighed.

Luke, nodded at his mate and walked to the pack house, he longed to hug his son, but it would have to wait until this mess was sorted, his alpha needed him.

“How many humans have been killed?” Faith asked.

“We don’t know, it is not like we can just ask the authorities, oh by the way, how many are werewolf and how many are human? they will think we have gone off our rockers.” Chloe sighed out.

Ethan ran across the field, his heart skipping with joy as he saw his mother stood with Chloe.

“MAM!” he shouted, sounding like the young man he was, for once.

“Ethan.” Faith whispered and broke her hug with Chloe to grab her pup in her arms.

“Eww you stink of s**t mam.” Ethan laughed as he held onto his mother.

“Language!” Faith giggled in response.

“You never got in touch, you normally always let me know you are okay.” Ethan cried out.

“I know, I am sorry, but we had to jump between trees which took forever to avoid detection, and by the time we got to a place with a signal, both of our phones had run out of charge.” Faith sighed.

“Come on, let’s get back to the pack house.” Chloe suggested, she had avoided the news long enough, she needed to know just how bad the fall out from Martins attack was.

Nicki smiled, then took hold of Chloe’s arm, holding her back so that Faith and Ethan could walk together.

“Chloe, I know what the Shetland Alpha did was wrong, but he was scared for his pack, for his family. Try to remember than when you cast judgement on him.” Nicki whispered softly.

Chloe looked at her best friend and nodded.

“I know, but the fall out could cost us this war Nicki.” Chloe sighed.

Nicki looked at Chloe and smiled.

“Has it though? Do you see a shift in the future? Has your visions changed?” Nicki asked.

Chloe looked at her friend, and closed her eyes, willing for a vision to come, but she saw nothing, the more she tried, the lest she could see with her minds eye, and she let out a frustrated sigh.

“I cannot tell, I am getting nothing.” Chloe sighed, she was filled with worry, wondering if now this had happened everything had changed, if more innocent people would lose their lives because of a war that had nothing to do with them.

“Chloe, you are not responsible for the actions of Martin, maybe when you originally got the vision, it had already taken what was happening into account.” Nicki suggested.

“Or may be, everything is now different because of it.” Chloe sighed.

“But you don’t know, all any of us can do is stick to the training plans. Tomorrow we are having the pack dedication and christening for Hannah and Phoenix. Unless you have a vision otherwise, then let’s just concentrate on that, and training.” Nicki smiled at her best friend.

Chloe let out a sigh, there was nothing she could do if she had no new vision, only trust the old one was still in play.

“Yes, I think you are right, there is not a lot we can do now anyway, what is done, is done, we just have to move forward and hope to the heavens above that we do not loose support from our allies.”
