The Headmaster Alpha's Mate -
The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 120
Liane stood with the students of the New Moon house, it was three days since she had begun her training with The Crescent Moon pack, yet she still could not fathom out how to teleport anyone other than herself. She let out a frustrated sigh, as once again she arrived in the Luna’s office on her own.
Chloe looked up at Liane, she had agreed to allow her to use her office, to practice her teleportation gift, and each time she popped out of nowhere, she looked more frustrated than the last time.
“Hey, keep practising Liane, I am sure you can do this, we just need to find the key.” Chloe smiled trying to reassure her.
“Yes, Luna, I know I can, I just don’t know how.”
Chloe shook her head slightly as Liane disappeared once more, knowing that in a few moments she would reappear again. It had been the same ritual day in and day out for the past few days.
Ethan stood with the other New Moon students, he was concerned about his parents, he knew they had arrived at the council okay, they had sent a comment on a book, as they had done before, but since then he had heard nothing. He was hoping they would send word soon, for all he put up a front of everything being okay, he was more than a little concerned about them, he was living each day in perpetual fear, only Ellie’s presence could calm him. She still did not know they were mates, and Ethan had a new appreciation of how difficult it was for Gav with Amy.
Tilting his head to one side, he looked at Liane. Like everyone else, he felt it was possible for her to transport more than just herself, but something was holding her back. He walked over to her, as she shouted “Again” and placed his hand on her arm.
“Liane, take a break for a few moments. I think the issue is more psychological than your knowledge of the gift itself.” He smiled at her.
Liane closed her eyes, she just wanted to get this right, and to her practise would make perfect, yet this young pup wanted her to sit down and waste time.
Mr PWL Gibson the werewolf history teacher from the academy, who also taught the New Moon house and helped develop the special gifted wolves, walked over, and smiled at Ethan.
“I think he has a point, Liane. You need to take a break for a few moments. Let’s chat.” Mr Gibson stated, leading her over to a small embankment where some felled logs lay and sat down on them.
Although not invited by his teacher, Ethan followed them both. He had an idea, and he really believed it would help. Over the past day, when he was very concerned for his parents, his healing gift had lessened in its power, and he wondered if the same may be true for Liane, that she was concerned about something, and it was holding her back.
Taking a seat beside Mr Gibson and Liane, Ethan let out a breath, then decided to admit to what was holding him back.
“I have been worried about my parents; I have only heard from them once. I started to get very anxious about it yesterday, and since then, my power has weakened somewhat. Although I can still heal, it is hurting a lot more, and leaving me tired and in pain. Normally, I recover instantly, unless it is a very serious injury.” Ethan shared.
Mr Gibson nodded at Ethan, understanding what the young man was referring to, then looked at Liane.
“Liane, I think what Ethan is saying is that sometimes our fears hold us back. Is there something that you are scared of?” Mr Gibson asked.
Liane closed her eyes, there was something, but she did not think she could tell anyone about it, for fear they would question her resolve to help them or feel that she may be working on behalf of the enemy still.
“Chloe, I have an idea what is blocking Liane, can you pop over to the new moon training ground.” Ethan linked with his Luna, as soon as he saw Liane’s reaction to the question.
Chloe stood up from behind her desk, leaving her office. Zander stood with Phoenix, watching over her as she toddled about, picking up everything she could find.
“Hey, I am heading over to see Ethan and Liane.” Chloe smiled, then bent down and gave her inquisitive daughter a k**s on the top of her head.
“Do you need me for this?” Zander asked.
He had been so busy, small pockets of time spent with his daughter were precious to him, and he had half an hour before he had to greet Hamish, Douglas and their pack, so he wanted to make the most of his time with his daughter.
“No, I will be back to greet Hamish. Harry and Mary will arrive tomorrow.” Chloe sighed. Very soon they were going to be over-run with werewolves.
Making her way over to the New Moon training field Chloe watched as all the gifted wolves practiced, some were healers like Ethan, but none of them were as powerful as her friend. Others tried to predict the future, honing their prophetic gifting. Whilst those with a gift for discernment were busy trying to correctly work out who was lying and who was telling the truth when told a story by other wolves. The werewolves were young, and other than Liane and Ethan, none of them would be involved in the battle, but it was important to keep them occupied, and help keep their minds off the war that they were preparing for.
Spotting Ethan sat with Liane and PWL Gibson, she headed across and joined them.
“Hey.” She smiled, taking a seat beside Liane.
Liane looked to the floor, a tear falling on her cheek. Ethan looked up at Chloe.
“We were just discussing, that when I am worried about my parents, my healing abilities become weaker. I was wondering if there was something similar that Liane is going through, and it is holding her back.” Ethan explained.
Chloe looked at Liane, taking a breath, she quickly discerned that she was concerned about voicing what she was feeling for fear of judgement.
“You know, sometimes we can have feelings for those who have done us wrong. My parents betrayed me, that betrayal caused the death of my unborn pup, but when they died, I still grieved them. It was confusing, because they had done what they had done, for a while I did not understand it. Then I realised, it was okay to miss the people I thought they were, that I was not disappointing Zander, or betraying our pup, nor would it stop me from fighting for what I believed in. Once I accepted it was okay to be upset, things got better.” Chloe smiled.
Liane looked up at her Luna, nodding her head, taking a breath she decided to trust Chloe with her inner most thoughts.
“I want my revenge, please believe me, I want no part in Amanda Bines and her schemes. But for a time, I truly believed her to be my mother, and a part of me feels guilt for what I am doing.” Liane explained.
Chloe smiled and placed her hand on Liane’s arm.
“I understand, it is confusing, but it is normal to feel that way Liane. When what you believed in turns out to be a lie, it is heart breaking. You cannot switch off every feeling, if you did you would be little more than a robot. I think, a part of you is holding back, not because you want to join Amanda, but because once upon a time you loved her, thinking she was your mother.” Chloe tried to reassure her.
“Yes, and I did not dare say anything for fear that you might misunderstand what I was going through.” Liane looked up, as tears streamed down her face.
“On the contrary Liane, I understand, better than most.” Chloe smiled softly at her.
Turning to Ethan, Chloe gave him a nudge with her elbow.
“I know it is hard Ethan but try not to worry to much about your Mam and Dad, no news is good news.” Chloe tried to reassure him.
Ethan let out a sigh and nodded his head.
“Right, Sarah and Caroline have been cooking up a storm, let’s go get some food, take some time, and then resume training after.” Chloe said, standing up and brushing the snow from her denims.
Liane stood up and hugged her Luna in thanks, the next thing Chloe knew she was stood in the dining hall, still holding Liane.
“WOW, you did it!” Chloe excitedly exclaimed.
Liane stood in shock, blinking her eyes.
“I didn’t even try!” Liane exclaimed.
“What were you thinking just before it happened?” Chloe asked, wondering if that knowledge would help her teleport more than just herself.
“I was just thinking how much I respected you, and how you are someone to admire. Then I wished I could take us both here and we arrived.” Liane grinned, overcome with relief and excitement.
“Well, it is great news Liane. I am so happy for you.” Chloe praised her.
“I don’t think I could have done it without your understanding Luna.” Liane stated.
“Oh, I think you would have got there in the end. Plus, you are my friend now, so it is just Chloe.” Chloe smiled at a very relieved Liane.
Zander stood at the packhouse doors, holding on to Chloe’s hand as they waited for Alpha’s Hamish and Douglas to arrive.
“It is good news, that Liane has had the breakthrough.” Zander whispered to his mate.
“I know, I have a feeling she will play an important part in the battle.” Chloe agreed.
The bus arrived with the Ronsay pack members aboard. All of them got off, stretching, and yawning. It had been a long journey.
“Where is Shetland Pack?” Zander asked, as he hugged Alpha Hamish.
“They are not coming.” Hamish sighed.
Zander looked at his old friend, and a frown formed on his brow. He really hoped they had not decided to side with Ullswater and Arsehole Amanda.
“Don’t worry, they are still with us in spirit. Martin has a plan. He is going to move across the mainland, to try and halt Skye pack before they even reach our islands. They will not expect that, and he is hoping for the element of surprise.” Douglas added.
Chloe looked at Zander and shook her head.
“This may be a mistake.” She whispered to her mate, unable to fathom out if the plan would work or not.
“It is their choice.” Zander answered, he could not command them to come to him for protection, he just had to hope they had made the right decision.
Suddenly Liane appeared out of nowhere, along with Ethan and PWL Gibson, and another young pup.
“Hi” She grinned happily, before all four of them disappeared again.
“WOW! What on earth was that?” Hamish asked his eyes wide with shock.
“That, was our secret weapon.” Chloe grinned.
“Now, let’s get you all settled in, and give you your training rosters.” Chloe smiled, and led the Ronsay pack into the pack house, letting out a sigh of relief. Now all she needed was news from Faith and Luke, and she would feel a lot better than when she woke up this morning.
