The Headmaster Alpha’s Mate Chapter 116

As the sun began to set behind the trees on the hillside, the grey sky turning to black, Zander stood before the whole Pack in Silverback pack. Robin stood before his pack at Silvermoon, and Josh stood before his pack and Sliverback pack. They had made a joint decision to each tell their respective packs at the exact same time, but separately, so that any werewolves who had questions could ask their Alpha’s freely, without fear of condemnation or the appearance of looking weak in front of the other packs.

Chloe stood at her mate’s side, as he stepped forward on the raised stage area, as he turned to her, and stretched out his hand towards her. Taking his hand in hers, the sparks from his touch engulfed her body, giving her a sense of peace and security, calming her nervousness at telling these people who were family to her, that soon they would be at war.

“Crescent Moon pack, today is the day we have been expecting, but still, it brings me great sadness to make this announcement.” Zander solemnly began.

“We have been informed that the Ullswater, Berwick, Jorvick, Tynedale and Skye packs, along with a group of rogues, have planned to attack us. We believe the attack will happen within three weeks. I know some of you hail from those packs and have recently joined us. I swear to you, we will protect you with our lives, and nobody is going to request any new pack member fight with us. Because of this threat, there will be some changes.” Zander continued, as a low murmur echoed around the pack.

“Firstly, there will be no school, until this is over.” Zander announced.

A few of the young pups, who did not have an understanding of what was transpiring began to cheer, only to be quickly hushed by their parents.

“Secondly, we are increasing our training, to four times per day, every single day, to give each and every one of us the best chance of survival. Train hard, fight easy.” Zander continued.

“We did not ask for this war, we did not want this war. But we cannot allow those who seek to destroy lives by a flagrant abuse of their power to continue to treat wolves as disposable, to not even give them their basic needs.”

“We are with you.” A shout came from the pack.

Chloe could not help the lump that formed in her throat from creating tears, as she looked out at her pack, and wondered after this was all over and done with, who would stand before her again.

Zander turned to his mate and nodded. Chloe stepped forward, her eyes stinging with tears.

“Crescent Moon, we will also be opening our hearts and homes to our allies, who have agreed to send help, in readiness for the battle ahead. Other’s will come for our protection, as they are smaller packs, who we have on good authority, will be attacked by larger packs, so we are offering them sanctuary. Yes, we will be squashed, but I ask that you all offer them your kindness and hospitality. Each of you standing here has a choice, we will not force any of you to fight, irrespective of rank or role within the pack. If any of you do not wish to be a part of this battle, then you may leave us now, and once it is over, we will accept you back, without judgement or repercussions. I know and understand many of you will be afraid of the future. I understand, I too stand before you, afraid for each and every one of you. But fear will not grip my heart and stop me from doing what is right. It will not alter my resolve to make the lives of everyone better.” Chloe announced.

“Any questions?” Zander asked his pack.

“Alpha, what about the pups?” An omega woman asked from the centre of the crowd.

“We are looking for a solution to keep them hidden from our enemy’s, away from the packs and the fighting. We are waiting for confirmation that this will be possible, and when we have that, we will inform you.” Zander answered.

Ethan stuck his hand up high into the air.

“Alpha is there an age restriction on those who can either fight or help during the battle?” he said fearlessly.

Chloe smiled at her friend and looked to Zander.

“It is our law that no pup under the age of 18 fight in a battle, however I know some of you will want to help the cause. So, we will offer special dispensation to those young wolves who had special abilities, giving them the option of helping or moving out of the pack, and looking after the younger pups.” Zander smiled, knowing full well, neither hell nor high water would stop Ethan from finding his way onto the battlefield to help heal the wolves.

Kitty stepped forward, looking up at her Alpha and Luna.

“Alpha, I would like to remain, and if I may, help out at the hospital.” She said with confidence.

“Thank you, Kitty, you can work with Dr Keto and his mate Cheryl at the hospital, to begin training on battle trauma.” Zander smiled down at the omega.

Drake stood forward next.

“Alpha, Luna, I know I am but an omega, and not very strong. But I beg that you allow me to fight alongside you, to train with you, so that I can defend my mate and her pups.” He shouted.

Caroline’s heart sunk, she knew her mate would want to fight, but still she had just found him, they were not even mated and marked. She let out a sigh, and smiled at Drake, for all she feared for him, she could not, take away from him his desire to defend her, Tom, Ellie and James. She made her decision, she would not spend another day without baring his mark on her neck, if he were to die, she wanted to have known all of him, for however long they had left.

“I agree with Drake, we may not be as strong as you, but we grow in strength every day, I want to join the training.” Another Omega announced.

One by one the omegas who had recently been rescued all stepped forward and requested to train, and learn to fight, so that they could avenge themselves for the treatment they had endured by their old packs.

Chloe’s tears streamed down her face, as she looked out at these brave wolves, all she wanted was to protect them, but she understood, Zander would not embarrass them by telling them no.

“Thank you, our dear friends, now return to your homes, hold onto your mates, love your family, then tomorrow the first training will begin at 5 am.” Zander ordered.

A solitary voice echoed across the field.

“All hail King Zander and Queen Chloe!”

A roar of response echoed through the pack, making every hair on Chloe’s body stand up. Sheba took control and let out a loud roar of her own in acknowledgment, shortly followed by Caesar.

As they returned to the Packhouse, Caroline approached Chloe.

“Luna Chloe.” She said, causing Chloe to raise an eyebrow at her.

Caroline smiled at her young Luna, but this time she did not drop her title, because it was more than just a word, it was a way of showing her loyalty, her respect, and most of all her trust.

“Luna Chloe, I request permission to take this night off, and ask if you would mind Tom, Ellie and James for me.” She asked with a slight blush.

Chloe smiled down at Caroline and nodded, then gathered the omega in her arms, and hugged her tight.

“Of course, you can. Send them all over, and they can stay in the Alpha suite guest rooms tonight.” She whispered.

“Thank you, Luna.” Caroline grinned, as Chloe shook her head at the title, and dismissed her.

Zander walked over to Chloe, took her hand.

“One more conversation for tonight then check in with Robin and Josh, and then bed my mate.” He whispered to her.

Chloe nodded her head, and looked at Faith and Luke, who both offered her a soft smile.

“Ethan, can you come to the Luna office please.” Chloe mind linked her friend.

“He is on his way to my office.” Chloe whispered.

Ethan sat looking at his mother and father, then gathered them into a hug.

“When will you go?” he asked.

“Now, best we set off under the cover of darkness. The sooner we get there, the sooner we can get back.” Luke told his son as he held on tight to him.

“I love you both, be safe.” Ethan sighed.

“We love you too Ethan, you make us both proud every day.” Faith sighed, placing a k**s on the top of her son’s head.

After a sad goodbye to Faith and Luke, Zander looked at Chloe.

“Can you see their future?” he asked, his voice laced with concern.

“I do not have a vision or a word regarding them, I suppose we just need to trust that whatever will be, will be.” Chloe sighed out, hoping that she would have got something to give her peace regarding their beta’s and their task.

“So, we will deal with Liane tomorrow morning, after first training, but now I need to call Robin and Josh, to see how their pack meetings went, then I am all yours.” Zander smiled, he longed to hold his mate in his arms.

“Whilst you do that, I will go check on Phoenix, also we have Tom, Ellie and James staying with us on the Alpha floor tonight.” Chloe grinned at her mate.

“Finally.” Zander let out a low chuckle, pleased for Caroline and Drake, then picked up the telephone.

Caroline looked up at Drake, her cheeks slightly flushed, then clearing her throat she whispered to him.

“So, Tom, Ellie and James are staying with the Alpha and Luna tonight.”

“Really, why they are doing that?” Drake asked confused.

The heat in Caroline’s cheeks burnt with embarrassment, she did not expect to have to spell it out to her mate. Drake looked down at his blushing mate, then realisation dawned on him.

“You are ready?” he whispered, his heart pounding in his chest.

“If you are?” Caroline blushed once more.

“I most certainly am ready, I love you my beautiful, kind, loving mate.” Drake grinned down at her, then taking hold of her hand he led her to their cottage.

“Tom, Ellie, James get an overnight bag, you are all stopping with Chloe and Zander tonight.” Caroline shouted out at the three kids who were sat together on the floor, talking.

“Why?” Tom innocently asked.

Ellie grinned and winked at her mother, making Caroline blush even more.

“Because James has never stayed in the Alpha suit, and given what is going to happen soon, this is his last chance.” Ellie stated, covering for her mother.

“Cool, you will love it there James, Chloe lets us eat ice cream for supper, and they have a huge cinema room, and we watch movies, or we can play on the PlayStation which ever you like.” Tom excitedly told James.

James looked up, his eyes wide, for all he was no longer petrified of Zander and Chloe, he still had a small amount of fear, being around them.

“Do we have to go Caroline?” He asked his little voice wobbling slightly.

“Yes, yes we do James, come on, it will be fun, I promise you.” Ellie grinned, then looked up to her mother.

“I think we need to renegotiate my pocket money.” She laughed and winked.

Caroline shook her head as Drake bellowed with laughter, then took hold of James in his arms.

“I know you are fearful James, but remember, our Alpha and Luna are not like those who mistreated us for years. They are kind, and compassionate, there is no need to fear them.” He reassured the small boy.

James nodded at Drake, then Tom excitedly pulled him up the stairs so they could pack their Pyjama’s, and clothes for the next day.

“I will show you how to play on Minecraft if you want, you can build all kinds of things, it is so cool.” Tom continued.

Finally, Ellie got the boys out of the cottage, then with another knowing grin on her face she shouted over her shoulder at her mother and Drake.

“Have fun.”

Drake laughed, then gathered Caroline in his arms and softly whispered in her ear.

“Oh, I think we will have lots of fun.” Then spun her around in his arms, crashing his lips against hers.
