The Alpha's Exchanged Mate
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 129

Alexander’s POV…

Pulling her dress down to her thighs as she stepped out of the restroom, she looked more beautiful to me.

“I must admit my d**k does wonders to your outlook.” I teased.

“Don’t get so full of yourself.” Edwina snickered, walking towards the table to pack up.

I still maintained my sitting position; I felt light. My burdens seemed so minimal after the s*x that I could go unrelenting for the next days to come. That was a slight lie, though. I had no intention of missing having s*x with Edwina for another two days.

She was done packing up in no time. Then, sitting down, she leaned on the couch. I didn’t want to ask, but I knew courtesy demands I show some concern.

“Heard Sonia sprained her leg. How is she doing now?”

Raising her gaze to mine, she must have noticed how hard it was for me to ask about her sister’s welfare. Her eyes were understanding; this is one of the reasons my heart kept fluttering at the sight of her.

“I haven’t gone to see her today, but I will do so the moment I leave here. I guess she is recovering fine.”

“Okay.” It became awkward all of a sudden.

“When are you returning home?” She asked.

“In a day or two time. Some things really need to be sorted.” I explained.

“Should I bring food over tomorrow?” I could sense her shyness.

“If you want.” I pushed it back to her.

Standing up, she smoothed her dress, “I would leave now. Becca must be waiting.”

“Sure. Thanks for the food.” I looked up at her, winking, and she blushed red.

A few seconds after her leaving, I heard the door click open again. I had thought it was Edwina; probably, she had forgotten something.

To my amusement, it was Caleb looking like he would pass out in the next minute.

Slumping into the couch opposite me, he looked me dead in the face, his eyes looking lost. “She just confessed to me.”

I stared at him like he had gone mad, “is everything okay with you? Who confessed?”

He looked out into space again, sighing at every passing second.

Caleb began to rant, almost scaring me. “So, Ramona and I were going at it in the office. We had been too carried away and forgot to lock the door. Becca walked in and saw us. She ran back out. I didn’t know what I was thinking, but I left Ramona to run after her…..”

“Wait a minute!” I cut in, “you did what? You stopped some indulging sweet s*x and ran out?”

He cut me a glare, shutting me up. “Okay,” I muttered, feeling pained.

“When I did find Becca, she admitted to loving me. Saying he has been loving me for a long while.”

I had my mouth agape at the latest revelation, “stop playing.” I said.

“Do I look like I’m telling a joke?” He was getting pissed; I could see that.

“First off, did you go back to Ramona to explain the situation to her?”

“She didn’t give me a chance to explain. Instead, landed me a swift slap on the cheek.” He turned the hurt cheek around for me to see.

“Offf, that looks vicious,” I gasped in a low tone.

“Can you quit playing around?” He cautioned.

I really wish I could feel bad for him, but in all sincerity, I didn’t. My wolf was too happy from the good time I just had before he breezed in to be able to take in the depth of his predicament.

“What’s bothering your mind now?” I asked, and I did mean this question.

“Becca.”

“Becca?”

“Yes.”

“Why? Shouldn’t you be worried about your woman breaking up with you?”

“Ramona can wait, what I can’t seem to figure out is Becca’s feelings towards me, and she had been good at hiding it for herself. But, thinking about it now, she had acted really awkward when I told her I was forming a relationship with Ramona. I remember the other day when I told her we had s*x, she had stayed frozen for some minutes.”

“Then your eyes have been blind to her feelings for you.” I speculated.

“How was I supposed to have known?” He threw his hands up.

“Maybe if you aren’t too rigid.”

Caleb scoffed, giving me a taunting look. “You are one to talk.”

“What the?” I opened my mouth, surprised at the turn of his jab. Then, slamming my hand on my thigh. “There is no way in hell I would help you out. You will sort this on your own.”

Taking a deep breath, he leaned further into the chair, resting his head. Ignoring me. “It’s not like I came to you for a solution in the first place.”

His admittance was a punch to my gut, “remind me to never listen to your problems again.”

“Remind me to put on a nose mask whenever the Luna brings your food over.”

I stared at him, confused and trying to figure out his words.

Caleb rolled his eyes, “I had smelt the remains of your arousal the moment I stepped in. And when you didn’t have any bone to sympathize with me, I knew just then that your brains had been f****d out.”

What he said wasn’t exactly funny, but it made me laugh. “I will take it you are heartbroken and hate to see people happy. Sorry for your situation, but I’m really not sorry.”

Staying quiet for a while, he sat up again. “What should I do? Should I go to her or call her?”

I shrugged, “you will need to give her some space to get over the embarrassment she must have felt by blurting out to you. Knowing Becca, she must be cursing herself out at the moment. You can send a text if you must communicate with her.”

Massaging the side of his head, “not you giving reasonable advice.”

“What the f**k?” I mouthed, grabbing a folder. My hand got a hold on flipping it at him.

“I’m so not going to help you out ever again,” I promised.

Not sparing me a glance, he rested his back, lying on the couch, staring at the ceiling.

I felt like ripping his neck off.
