The Alpha's Exchanged Mate
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 128

Authors POV…..

Becca panted and huffed as she ran all the way down the stairs, ditching the elevator. She sat down on the third floor’s staircase, her eyes burning from the hot tears that had pooled at the corner of her eyes.

She wasn’t supposed to care; seeing Caleb with Ramona shouldn’t be a problem. After all, he had told her the very first time they had s*x, and she knew it had been a constant thing. So why, then, was she feeling heartbroken and cheated?

Becca wailed alongside her wolf as she tried to muffle her voice by covering her mouth with both of her hands. She wanted to bury herself deep inside the safety of her bed covers. Anger coursed through her, but she knew it wasn’t her place to be angry. However, she wasn’t angry at anyone but herself.

She had known his stance from the beginning, and Caleb had been generous enough to not give her mixed signals about his emotions. But her silly heart kept conniving with her mind, trying to convince her to keep hoping. The thought of Caleb moaning so intensely to Ramona’s grind flashed through her mind again; she couldn’t hold back the tears as they fell.

Caleb ran down the hallway panting; he didn’t realize how hungry he was until he ran down to the elevator and back with no sign of Becca. He had gone towards Xander’s office but knew she wasn’t there when he couldn’t find her by the secretary’s side.

His head wheezed on where she could be. Then, following his wolf instincts, he moved towards the stairs running down them, hoping to find her. He had no idea if following her and leaving Ramona high and dry was the best thing to do, but he knew he couldn’t leave Becca all by herself.

Reflex had been the first thing to act when he saw her eyes staring back at him, looking heartbroken. His heart had picked up a panicked pace when he sighted her; he felt like a child caught stealing candies at the store.

Jogging down the third-floor staircase, he heard some muffled sound. He almost leaped for joy, knowing it was her. But he had no idea what he was meant to do seeing Becca crying her eyes out.

Going closer to her, he sat a step away from her. “What’s wrong, Becca?” He asked meekly

Becca hid her face when she heard his voice sniffing, “I’m okay.”

Holding her by the shoulder to make her face him, “how can you say that when you are crying so hard. What’s wrong?” He asked, worried, hoping he wasn’t the main reason for her tears.

He had never seen her so vulnerable; Becca had always been able to keep herself together.

“Please don’t touch me.” She whimpered, still not facing him. Wishing he would just go and let her be.

Caleb kept his hands to himself, placing them on his thighs. “I’m so sorry for making you see that. I didn’t know Ramona had not locked the door.” He chuckled nervously.

B***d ran through Becca’s ears at how he wasn’t bothered about how she felt exactly but thought she was embarrassed for him.

Not saying a word, she stood up, walking past him in a rage. Caleb was quick to match her pace as he pulled her back.

“What’s wrong, Becca? Is there something bothering you?” He asked, still holding onto her hand.

“Get your f*****g hands off me!” Becca growled.

Caleb looked taken aback. He had never seen Becca look so angry before.

“Why are you getting angry at me? What did I do wrong?” He inquired.

Becca gave him a disgusting look; kissing her teeth, she stared into his eyes.

“You know what I regret the most? It’s making me believe the lie I kept repeating to myself. I blame myself for refusing to read the room. I blame myself for being such a hopeless love fanatic. I feel so stupid!” She lamented, her tears adding up.

Caleb stared at her in confusion, wondering what in the world she was raving about.

“What are you saying, Becca?”

Becca let out a dry laugh, “you wouldn’t understand, and I don’t think that’s your fault. But how dumb can you get not to notice how I have felt about you all these years? You were so lovestruck with Ramona. Even from the distance, you didn’t give me any chance to love you. Yes, you heard me. I love you, Caleb, and it hurts so f*****g much to see your d**k all rammed up in another woman’s p***y! F**k you all!”

She yelled, keeping up with her walk to the ground floor. Caleb stared at her receding back in confusion. He knew something was wrong, but he had never thought it would be something like what he had just heard.

He couldn’t tell if Becca was just so good at hiding how she felt or if he was the one too blinded to see. Caleb stood like a piece of log, undecided on what to do.

Taking a deep breath, he walked back up the stairs like a lost zombie with no actual direction. Becca’s confession made him dumbstruck. Never would he have thought she would say such to him. She had always been reserved with her thoughts and feelings.

Getting to the front of his office, he saw a raging Ramona step out of the office with her hand on the doorknob. Her face contorted into an ugly frown.

Ramona stared at him angrily; she didn’t know what she was supposed to make out of the incident that had taken place minutes ago. It had taken her time to recover from the embarrassment of being pulled out without warning. If she didn’t know better, she would have thought Caleb and Becca were f*****g each other. But, it’s a well-known fact that the both of them are good friends. And if they were really f*****g, then both of them were definitely good at hiding things.

Slamming the door shut aggressively, she stared at him for a split second. Then, in one unsuspecting move, Ramona slapped Caleb hard across the face.

“That’s for leaving me horny and running off!” She spat, walking away, her heels clattering hard against the floor.
