The Alpha's Exchanged Mate
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 122

Alexander’s POV…

I checked my wristwatch, which was beginning to itch badly. It was 3am in the morning. I looked at the other occupants in the room; they had their heads hanging in between chairs, dozing off. Except for Derek, though, that little man looked wide awake and refreshed. I wanted to ask if he was a night owl.

I had dozed off a bit too, but my mind was too preoccupied to let sleep rule over me.

“Bingo!” Derek yelled out, startling not just me but almost making the other three run off their chairs.

They looked hilarious, warriors who couldn’t hold themselves down, all in the name of sleep.

“What the hell, man!” Carlos whined in his sleepy voice. “Could you not yell like that? I almost sprained my neck just now.”

“Keep your tone leveled,” Jason added.

The both of them seemed really upset for being woken up unexpectedly. But, as usual, Caleb looked unfazed; he seemed so relaxed one would ask again if he ever dozed off a few minutes ago.

Derek chewed on a fry. I had a feeling it might have gone stale by now, but whatever it was that suited the guy.

“Sorry If I woke you, but if you had been roasting your a*s off for hours on his chair and eventually achieved your goal, then I doubt if you would keep that mute,” Derek said.

I was expecting to see him pant, and I felt the urge to clap for him. For the first time in almost twelve hours since I met him, he just said a full sentence, and I was so proud of him.

“Never knew you could speak,” Jason muttered. I was about to high-five him for being such an observer but kept it to myself.

Caleb was quick to jump into business, “what do you have for us?”

“I have been able to hack into the phone, and I must say it’s been a long time coming,” Derek replied.

Rubbing his palms together in excitement, Carlos whistled, going near Derek. “Are we good to go now?”

Derek nodded, adjusting his glasses. That surprised me; I didn’t notice any glasses on him until now.

“Yes, tell me what you intend to tell them, and I will send it to every line connected to this phone right this minute.”

I looked towards Caleb, “what day would be most suitable, considering we would need more hands? The four of us can’t do that on our own.”

“In two days’ time, all of the necessary arms will be ready,” Caleb assured.

“Alright, Derek, send this to them. Tell them to meet up at the two packs border, where they can stay hidden. The issue is from who?” I looked around for any contribution.

Derek said, “from the previous messages of the phone I hacked, it says some crescent alpha or so. One person was referred to that the most. But I have no idea who.”

“That’s it.” I snapped my fingers, “from the Crescent alpha, then you open a bracket and put in Ben.”

“Is that convincing enough?” Carlos asked, still bent over Derek’s chair.

“It’s perfect,” Derek mused after he was done typing.

I hoped for his own sake he was right because I would really have that cute-looking head of his if care wasn’t taken.

“How do we know the message is delivered?” Caleb queried.

Derek whistled confidently, clicking on the keys rapidly, “easy peasy.”

Jared’s phone then brought on a message notification. And behold the message we had asked him to send.

“Genius!” Carlos clapped his hands, feeling proud of his friend. “I told you all he is a beast at what he does.”

“Thank you, Derek,” I said to him, deeply grateful.

Derek nodded, packing his things, “I really don’t mind coming back again. You paid me handsomely. I wouldn’t mind helping you with such again.”

Caleb snickered, “see you repeating help like we aren’t paying you for the service you render.”

Smiling sheepishly, Derek grabbed the rest of the junk back. “I was just being polite.”

Derek was definitely being sarcastic, and judging by the look on Carlos’s face, he was having a good time hearing someone else roast Caleb. The look on Caleb’s face was threatening; I had to say something.

“You should leave now, Derek; my driver will drop you off.”

He bowed his head, hugged Carlos lightly, and headed out of the office. Checking the time again, it was already past four.

“Can we go home now?” I wasn’t really asking; my bones were exhausted; they needed to feel the comfort a bed provided.

“To the hotel, Alpha; we can’t go home till all of this is done.” Caleb reminded me. I felt like crying out.

But the hotel idea wasn’t so bad itself, “let’s get on with it then.” I replied.

Stretching noisily, Carlos checked his phone. “Can’t believe it’s almost another day, and I haven’t called Becca or dropped a message.”

If Carlos hadn’t been so engrossed in his phone, I would have thought he intentionally wanted to spite Caleb. But it was obvious he had spoken out loud without knowing.

Glancing towards Caleb, that dude was balling his fist in anger as he gritted his teeth. Jason took notice and jabbed Carlos by his side with his elbow.

“What the hell, Jason, that hurts,” Carlos whined as he nursed his side.

Caleb took two long steps toward Carlos. “How many times have I warned you to stay the f**k away from Becca?”

Staring at him dead in the face, Carlos shrugged. “Becca is not your daughter. She can choose to pick anyone’s call and hang out with whomever she likes.”

“Yes, but not someone like you.” Caleb jabbed his finger into Carlos’s chest.

My head was beginning to ache; I knew if I didn’t do something, the both of them would mess the whole room up while fighting.

“Let’s get to the hotel. You can both have a tussle in the foyer or just outside the place. It’s nice to know you will have enough money to pay for the damages. Get out of my office!” I told them calmly.

They knew better than to keep up with the nonsense they were trying to indulge in. Staring one another down with vicious stares, they both moved away eventually. Caleb went to my back to help me out while Carlos and Jason followed each other.

Sometimes, Caleb forgets he is now a Beta and shouldn’t be found in a state contest with his subordinates.

But I was enjoying the tantrums both of them always indulged in; it won’t be nice to let him know he was making a fool of himself. Wicked! I know.
