The Alpha's Exchanged Mate
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 106

Edwina’s POV…..

I couldn’t stay still; the thoughts of Sonia probably lying to get me off her back made the hair on my skin stand. I hoped so bad she wasn’t playing mind games.

Becca had told me she had already informed Carlos, and he promised to get back to us. Xander didn’t notice my distance much since his mind was preoccupied, just like mine.

The stress was weighing on him too much, and it bothered me. The need to be of good use was stronger than ever.

I have decided to find some other means to expose Ben and his cohorts if Sonia’s Intel turns out to be a lie. I had decided to come to the library and distract myself a bit. For every page I turn, my mind turns its own page multiple times, making my heart race every second that passes.

How long would it take for him to find out if they truly had the marks? Why is he not forthcoming? Was Sonia lying? I held onto my head. At this rate, I might lose my mind and still not have any solution to the matter at hand.

Jolting up like I had been pricked in the butt, I took determined strides towards the door. Ready to go find the said Carlos my own self. I was tired of having to twist and turn my thoughts. As I attempted to touch the door knob, someone had been faster than I was from outside. I was taken aback by it; behind the door was Becca and a fine-looking man whom I presumed to be Carlos. I remember seeing him at the general meeting, but I was too preoccupied to pay him any mind.

“Good day, Luna.” He bowed

“Nice to have you here, Carlos. I know this might seem odd since we are just meeting for the very first time and in this awkward situation. I hope you don’t mind?” I ranted, unsure of what I was meant to say. Sometimes, I wonder if the pack members question how I flop being the Luna.

He and Becca sat down as I beckoned at them to sit. “Not at all, Luna Edwina. I’m always at your service.”

“He said he had some news and I thought it wise to bring him to you instead.” Becca said.

“That was so thoughtful of you, Becca. I was about losing my mind when nothing came forth.”I turned towards Carlos. “Without wasting time too much. Tell me what you have got, Carlos.”

Carlos reached into his breast pocket and brought out a neatly folded piece of paper. Unfolding it, I noticed a drawing of a small crescent in the middle of it.

My eyes widened as I snatched it from his hand. “Is this what I think it is?”

He nodded in affirmation.

“You were right, Luna. There are too many of them than I would have thought in my clan. However, I have called on the representative of the gamma clan to help affirm at his own end if some of their wolves have also derailed from their allegiance to alpha Xander. The moment he gets back to me, I will let you know.”

I shifted excitedly in my seat. My sister had played her part responsibly, after all. I felt proud that she had surpassed all of my doubts.

“The moment you hear from the gamma clan, you would need to let the alpha in on it.” I said

Carlos nodded, “I was just about to seek your permission for it. This has been on the alpha’s mind for weeks, trying to purge out the betrayers before going out to find our enemies. Thank you so much for your help, Luna Edwina. This means a whole lot.”

I was swayed by his appreciation. I am just as indebted to the pack as he is. Being the Luna, I have to protect the pack in any way I can.

Standing up and bowing once again, “I would take my leave now, Luna.” Carlos said. Before I could reply, he turned towards Becca and gave her a squeeze I would consider too affectionate.

The mischievous side of me brought a funny look to my face. “bye, Carlos!” I called out in a high-pitched voice.

Becca stared at me after he left, “if I may, what was that about?”

I shrugged, “someone seems peculiar about you.”

She huffed, rolling her eyes. “You are seeing things, just like Caleb is.”

I stood up, heading towards the space Carlos had stood up from. I pulled at her eagerly, “what do you mean by Caleb and me seeing things. Now, my question is, why is Caleb talking about it?”

“Sometimes, i wonder if you are a child in an adults body. What exactly is getting you this excited?” She whined, sounding frustrated.

I had no intention of letting her off the hook, “just tell me.” I nudged her.

Exhaling, she said, “Caleb thinks Carlos is making a move on me, and I’m also interested in Carlos. Isn’t that crazy? You and I know it’s Caleb my heart beats for.”

I placed a finger under my jaw, trying to think, “how about, it’s Carlos who has his heart beating for you?”

“I am so not doing this with you.” She blurted, standing up hurriedly. “I should leave now.”

I pouted, “you are such a kill joy.”

“I really am not, it’s you who is imagining things.” She grinned

“Humor me.”

“Well, Caleb might be getting married soon.” She announced, a gloomy look replacing her bright face.

I almost coughed out my insides, “what? How? When?”

“I wish I had the answers. He was all over me wailing about his beloved leaving him.”

“You sound pained.” I tried hard to not laugh, but my grin had me off.

“I feel like tossing something at you, unfortunately you are my Luna.” She glared.

Still laughing, I brushed my butt with my hands. “I know you have a whole lot you intend to do to me, but for the sake of me being Luna.” I taunted, still grinning. “Now, if you would indulge this silly goose of a Luna one more time. Can you come with me to visit Sonia?”

She stared for a few seconds, letting out a small smile. “I could try.”
