Chapter 63

“I’m worried about Elizabeth’s health” Asher muttered.

He was seated by the high rocks, overseeing their lands with his Beta by his side who only turned to stare back at him, wishing he could elaborate further.

“I don’t know if the medication Eva have her is working but the attack keeps getting worst”

“Maybe you should take her to the city for a proper check up” Alex suggested and Asher’s head snapped at his direction.

“No will do. It’s not like she is sick but the baby is trying to get used to her, hence the pain”

Alex shrug, “Well then, I guess it’s no big a deal. Eva will make sure she doesn’t have anymore complications”

Asher sighed, before speaking again.

“I think too much stress is adding to her issue as well”

Alex gave him a knowing look, “Whose fault is that?”

“I had s*x with Kara and Elizabeth got jealous and hit her on the face” Asher blurted.

“Wait, what now?” Alex shirked and Asher simply shrug.

“Yes she did and boy, I can’t believe I’m saying this but I was kinda pleased she did that. Kara was stupid coming to her like that even when i told her to keep her mouth shut”

Alex was dumbfounded as he stood staring back at his Alpha. Something in the way he spoke about Elizabeth told him, he wasn’t just impressed by her actions but ecstatic about it.

“Is it just me or you actually do have that look in your eyes right now that says I’m proud of the woman who is carrying my child”

“What?”

Alex shrugged. “The you I know would have been pissed about this but here you are, totally cool with it”

Asher’s lips parted slightly but no word made it out before he signed once again, something he seemed to be doing so much lately. The situation he was in was becoming complicated and what’s worse, it might get worse in the coming days.

“I don’t know but I guess, I’m just glad she was able to put Kara in her place”

“Yeah, me too. Kara is crazy for thinking she’d always intimidate her and get away with it. Someday I’m certain, Elizabeth will put her in her place for good”

“You think?”

“I know so” Alex said with a nod.

Asher knew his Beta was right but he could only admit it to himself not anyone else. She already fascinated him with her fierceness.

Even in her condition and how many times she has been put down, she had refused to give up. He had never seen anyone like her before and he knew he would be a fool to just discard her that way.

He was trapped between the devil and the deep blue sea and he knew if he had to choose, he would choose to spare her.

“Hey Alpha, you okay?” Alex asked.

Asher looked up at his face and scoffed when he realized he had a look of pity for him. Asher hate to be pitied. Getting pitied is a sign of weakness and he is not weak. He was in absolute control of the situation.

“Yes I’m fine” Asher said getting back on his feet

“where are you going?”

“To check on things and then see how Elizabeth is doing. I Just want to make sure she is fine.

“Okay. Extend my regards to her” He called at Asher before he turned and began to walk away.

Back in the room, due to her constant worries about her health, Beth decided to revisit her pregnancy health book. She wasn’t sure if she would find anything useful to the changes happening to her body but still, she wanted to have a look.

Aside from her eyes changing color, she was starting to feel a deep itching from deep within and it’s crazily uncomfortable.

“Is this all normal?” she wondered out loud as she opened the book and began to look through it.

After some minutes of skimming through the book without coming across her symptoms listed, She placed the healthy tip book by the side of her bed, ruffling her jet black hair as she tried to arrange her thoughts into logical reasoning.

Somethings just doesn’t add up, she couldn’t quite understand anything no matter how hard she tried. Is it just the pregnancy or something else is wrong with her.

She got back on her feet and walked over to the mirror before pulling off her clothes. Her bump was extremely large even though she was just four months gone. She wondered if it was normal with werewolves.

She was still staring at her bump and rubbing at it softly when the door burst open and Asher walked in as well. She quickly covered herself back up before he walked over and stood beside her, his eyes fixed on her bump.

“Are you okay?”

“yes, I’m okay”

She was about to move away from him but stopped when he spoke up again.

“Can I…can I touch it?”

Her eyes narrowed back at him. “You want to touch my baby bump?”

Asher shifted his weight from one foot to the next before replying with a nod.

She let out a sigh before agreeing with a nod.

“Okay”

Asher took a step closer and raised both hand towards her stomach hesitantly before placing them gently with a relief sigh.

Elizabeth could barely read his expression at the moment. Whatever he was feeling, he kept it hidden as he continued to placed his hands against her with his eyes closed shut.

Another minute passed before she felt the baby kicked and both of them jumped apart, her eyes wide in shock.

“Whoa” She exclaimed before adding,

“What the heck was that?”

“I mind linked him and he reacted” Asher explained happily.

“I think he heard me”

“oh?” She answered in a haze and Asher nodded with a smile before touching her again.

Elizabeth couldn’t help but smile right back at the expression on his face before walking towards the bathroom to ease the tension in her bladder.

When she was done, she made her way back into the room, heading towards the closet to change into her pajamas. Night had fallen now and all she wanted to do was to sleep.

She climbed into her bed, switching off the bedside lamp but leaving the night lights on. A few minutes later, she notice Asher climb in beside her before she felt his arms wrapped around her bump with sigh erupting his mouth.

“Good night, Beth” He said shortly.

“Good night, Asher” She called right back with a smile on her face.
