Taken By The Demon Alpha -
Chapter 58
“And what do we have here?” She ask with that irritation in her voice still.
Beth said nothing while her companion quickly replied the shewolf.
“Hello, Kara” Izzy said respectfully.
Elizabeth remained quiet, not bothering to say anything to reply her. If there was one person she detested with a passion, it was Kara.
She noticed her presence really close to her face and she was forced to look up and face her.
“Hey hunter’s girl” She said with a chuckled before correcting herself. “pardon me, I mean, Elizabeth. The Alpha told me personally to call you that”
Beth doesn’t know if she was telling the truth or not but the fact that she was calling her by that name then the chances of it coming from Asher is right there.
And that usual look of hatred in her eyes is now replaced with something devious and Beth couldn’t help but feel that there was something Kara knew that she didn’t and that left her feeling somewhat uncomfortable especially if it has to do with Asher.
She doesn’t know why the thought bothers her this much but it did.
Pushing the disturbing thought out of her mind, she arched a brow back at Kara who was still all over her space.
“What do you want?”
All she wanted was to have a pleasant day but she had a feeling that Kara was about to mess it all up with her unwanted presence. Good thing, the guard assigned to watch is just a breath away and she can’t dare to hit her no matter how much she is provoked.
“Oh nothing much, just surprised to see you are still breathing and Asher still hasn’t put a knife to your neck just yet but then again, you are carrying his child so?” she ended with a shrug.
“Are you done?” Beth asked, with b***d rushing to her ears.
“Not quite, I mean, I still have something to tell you” she added, rather dramatically and it took whatever restraint she had left to stop her from cursing her out.
It’s obvious to her what Kara was trying to do. Make her distrust Asher than she already does. She let her manipulate her the first time and almost ended her life but not this time.
She let out a breath and peered up at her again.
“I do not care what you have to say, Kara”
“of course you do care. I saw the twitch in your eyes when I mentioned his name earlier and it will also interest you to know what he told me last night when he spent the night in my room”
At the sound of those words, Beth knew she was telling the truth. Asher didn’t return last night but that’s not even the problem. Why that piece of information was causing a rip through her chest was the problem.
“now comes the juicy part. He told me he wanted me to be the one to birth his heir and you and I know what that means. After you are death, your child would be next”
At the mentioned of her unborn child, Beth reacted before she could get a grip on herself. She slapped Kara square in the face.
The red hair who was obviously taken by surprise only stumble backward but before she could retaliate. Her guard was on ground to put an end to whatever she intended to do.
“That’s enough. Go ahead and leave” The guard had warned firmly before readying himself for a fight. Everyone knew Kara to be the feisty one and getting slapped in the face is huge.
“You f*****g slapped me?” She sneered, trying to bypass the guard but couldn’t.
Beth was crying at this point not because she was afraid of Kara but because of her child. She doesn’t know if Kara was telling the truth but something told her those words might still be close to the truth.
Izzy on the other hand was starting to have a bad feeling about all of this had quickly helped her back on her feet as they got ready to leave.
“Yeah, that’s right. Go ahead and f*****g run but make sure you don’t just run back to the same man trying to kill you but back to that creep of a father, because he is the only one that can save you” Kara’s voice had called at her even as she walked away.
Beth was no longer paying attention to her words at this point. There was an ache in her chest and she couldn’t quite get a grip on and it was growing rapidly with each intake of breath.
She felt heartbroken and equal part scared for the child in her womb and at the same time helpless.
“You are seriously not thinking about her words are you?” Izzy voice had jolted her a little as she looked back at her with tears in her eyes.
“Look, Beth. Maybe you didn’t see it but I think Kara is just trying to get in your head. She would do and say anything to make you doubt the Alpha’s intention towards you”
Elizabeth knew that she was just trying to comfort the situation but then again, she also can’t deny the fact that there was some truth in what Kara said.
More tears streamed down Elizabeth’s eyes as her words resounded in her ears once again.
She couldn’t stop them and even when Izzy tried dabbing her eyes with the tissue she brought along, it fell in torrents.
“Beth, please stop crying. This is exactly what that woman want to see you do” She paused midway before a little smile creep across her name.
“Good thing you hit her on the face. I didn’t think you had it in you but bang, you shocked even kara. You should have seen her face. Haah!” Izzy narrated and Beth couldn’t help but chuckle through her tears.
Izzy saw her laughing and pushed her some more to laugh and she did until she began to cough, a deep spasm that left her uncomfortable. The pain was now lodged in her throat but she forced it down.
“Beth, you have to take it easy please” Kara said with fright in her voice.
Elizabeth sighed, calming herself down. Now, she was convinced beyond any reasonable doubt that Asher wasn’t worth it. She took a deep breath, expelling it out as she accepted the tissue from Izzy.
Now, she was calm and her head was clear. She has to find her own way out. Even though she kept saying it, she never really tried to take that step further but the possibilities were still there.
“I don’t think Alpha Asher will go through with the execution” Izzy said shortly and Beth turned to face her, staring at Izzy as though she had suddenly lost her mind.
“Well, I think he will even though he said he would find a way around it. But deep down I know he wants to see me gone”
They entered the room and thankfully Asher has still not returned as both girls settled on the sofa and Izzy handed Elizabeth the water flask as she watched her take a healthy gulp.
“look, I don’t mean to insist but I have seen the way he looks at you and I don’t think it’s a look from someone that wants you death”
Beth only scoffed at Izzy insinuations, “The only look he gives me is one of hate and sometimes pity which is more annoying than hate” Beth replied with a deep frown before turning around to find Asher standing at the door way.
