“What?”

“ I asked if you have any feelings for Alex” He questioned once more and Beth’s countenance changed immediately.

“Well, I heard you the first time but I do not understand your question.”

“What the f**k do you not understand huh?” Asher let out, his voice louder than he intended and Beth was forced to take a step away from him.

“Don’t make me ask you again, Elizabeth. Have you fallen in love with my Beta and wants to be with him or not”

“No, of course not” Beth said as she broke down in tears, a feeling of frustration starting to take over.

“You think your tears would sway me? I never should have trusted you. How cheap of you to go whoring yourself to Alex enough to charm him.” Asher said without thinking and Beth’s heart shredded into pieces.

She couldn’t take his words anymore as it stunk her ears and she slapped Asher so hard on his right cheek.

The latter turned his face holding the affected area and Beth slapped the other even harder.

“I can tolerate and endure any form of insult but don’t you dare address me as a whore because I’m not one and never will be” Beth warned dangerously with eyes narrowed into slit and leaving Asher in shock.

He was stun for a moment by her reaction as he stood with clenched jawline and staring at the woman who looked even more furious than he could ever be.

Something in the way she had reacted told him he might have misjudged her too quick but the thought that she might be feeling the same for his Beta left him feeling more agitated.

“It’s true that I do care for him but not like you are thinking and I do not wish to be with him either. I don’t where you got that absurd idea from but i can swear with my life that I never had any affair with Alex or any other man during your absence”

“Even though I hate to admit it, You’re the only man in my whole life that I have ever being with and all you could offer me are insults and wrong accusations?” Beth screamed angrily.

Asher stared speechlessly.

“I hate you!” Beth added and broke down into tears.

Sam began crying as a result of the noises and Asher rushed to comfort him, he eventually slept and he came back to Beth who sat by the corner crying.

Why didn’t he trust her?

Asher felt his tongue completely glued to its board as he inched closer to her.

“I’m sorry, Elizabeth, I was just mad!” Asher apologized.

“How could you think so low of me? Do you know how it hurts?” Beth asked with teary eyes and Asher couldn’t help but feel even more guilty seeing her tears.

“I’m sincerely sorry for how I reacted. Alex told me he wants to claim you as mate and I just lost it, thinking maybe you already accepted”

She sniffed back her tears as her eyes simply furrowed in confusion.

“Alex said that?”

Asher nodded before settling beside her on the floor, a deep sigh escaping his mouth.

“ That’s not all, he has also challenged me to a duel and I accepted”

“No he didn’t. There must be some sort of mistake. Alex doesn’t mean it and even if he did, it’s certainly not in that way”

“He certainly did and I already accepted so now you know”

“You can’t let that happen Asher, you are going to kill him” Beth exclaimed.

“ He knew what would become of him yet he challenged me and I’m not backing down either” Asher deadpan before moving away from the floor and towards the wardrobe.

“Asher, please, I don’t feel a thing for Alex!”

“You don’t but he does and wants you”

“Asher, all I am asking is not to fight with Alex”

“I’m not changing my mind Elizabeth” He growled out, before shrugging out of his clothes and then off to the bathroom to wash off.

Beth tried to sit still but couldn’t. Her thought was trouble with all Asher had told her. Another minute passed before she jumped back on her feet and threw on her hoodie before rushing out the door.

She rushed to Alex’s room looking back to ensure she wasn’t being followed.

She opened Alex’s room without knocking and met him sitting on a chair close to the window.

Alex stood up immediately surprised to see her in his room and so late in the night too.

“Elizabeth, what are you doing here?”

Beth’s couldn’t speak as she just stood there at the same spot with tears in her eyes.

“You’re almost crying Beth, what’s the matter?” Alex asked as he moved closer to Beth, his hand reaching out to caress her wet cheek with his thumb.

“Did he hit you?” Alex asked again and she shook her head before grasping his own hand unexpectedly.

“You need to back off from fighting Asher” She blurted out and his eyes only narrowed before he pulled out his hand and took a step away from her.

“I’m sorry but I can’t. I thought I would be able to bury the feelings I had for you but hell no! It grew bigger everyday and I had no choice than to keep it to myself afterwards. Even If I don’t get to make you mine eventually, I would surely fulfill your wish of going back to where you belonged and came from.” Alex promised and Beth tried holding back her tears but it fell even more, uncontrollably.

“Please do me a favor Alex.” Beth requested.

“What could that be? If it is up to my capability, then I am going to do it.”

“Don’t fight with Asher, I beg you. Just call off the fight, I don’t want anything to happen to either you or Asher.” Beth pleaded.

“If that’s the favor then I am sorry to disappoint you because I won’t stop the fight.” Alex replied stubbornly and Beth burst into tears.

“The last thing I would ever wish for you both is to fight and hurt each other because of me..” Beth said in tears and Alex looked away not able to look at her tears.

He can’t believe that she is crying because of them. When he couldn’t take it anymore, he let out a sigh, walking over to where she stood.

“Beth, you don’t have to cry over this. I would be fine,” Alex said as he tried to wipe her eyes and at that very moment, the door barged open and Asher walked in.

“So this is it? And you still dare to deny you have no feeling of love for him” Asher screamed angrily and Beth was frightened.

“Asher, please…”

Beth got interrupted by Asher immediately.

“Keep shut! I don’t want to hear a word from a betrayer like you. All this while I was away risking my life so yours could get spared and this is how you choose to repay me?!” Asher sneered through gritted teeth.

She was damn hurt for the wrong accusation. She hates the way Asher is refusing to hear her out.

She doesn’t understand why he got so wild all of a sudden.

She understands she is at fault for lying to him but not to the extent of calling her names and accusing her wrongly.

Why on earth will he even think she is having a secret affair with Beth. Asher was just unbelievable!

“Asher, try to understand…”

Asher cut her off again.

“Just shut the f**k up, Elizabeth! I don’t want to hear a single word from you.”

Asher was really mad.

“And as for you Alex, you want a fight? You sure as hell going to get one” Asher stated clearly and dragged Beth roughly out of Alex’s room.

“You can do whatever you like Asher for now but once I defeat you, Elizabeth will be mine.” Alex called right after him.

They got to Beth’s room and he rough handedly pushed her to the bed, his eyes dark with rage.

“How could you stoop as low as this?” Asher asked, feeling damn hurt.

“Please can you just let me explain?” Beth screamed right back.

“Explain what? What explanation do you have to give huh? I f*****g saw you two. He was about to k**s you before I got there. I mean, you can’t even wait till the fight is over? Are you really that desperate to be with him?”

“Well, I already told you, I do not feel anything for him because it’s you I love” Beth cried out
