I get in the car and look at Stiles. He’s really sad

Me: It’ll be fine. They’ll believe us when we put the proof that Theo isn’t clean under their noses.

He nods. The back door opens and Liam sits down.

Liam: Shall we go?

I smile

Me: Let’s go!

The evening

We watch Theo get out of his car and pick up a brown packet. He then walks towards the bridge in the forest

Stiles: I told you he was no good!

Me: We’ve just watched him play three hours of video games. I’d do anything to help you, Stiles, but he’d better have killed a hundred people to make up for it!

Stiles: We’re about to find out!

He races off in Theo’s direction.

Me: Wait!

I take my turn running with Liam behind me, but at one point I can’t hear him any more. He’s fallen into a hole

Me: Liam! Get out of there now!

Liam: I fell in! I didn’t jump in on purpose!

I roll my eyes and wait for him to come out. We’re going to join Stiles.

Stiles: Liam, get his scent.

Liam: He smells good.

Me: His stupid emotion!

Liam: Oh, he’s sad. Looks like grief.

Stiles: This is the bridge where his sister died.

I teleport us further without really knowing where and obviously, we run into Theo

Theo: What are you doing here?

Me, Liam Stiles: Hiking/training/we got lost.

I look at the boys and I want to gut them. What do we do now?

Theo: Stiles… We spent our summers playing baseball together! Why don’t you trust me?

He hesitates for a second but then takes out the two documents and gives them to him.

Stiles: Your dad signed both documents in different years, but you can tell they’re not the same signature.

Theo: There are some differences.

Me: No, they’re completely different, as if it wasn’t the same person who wrote them.

Theo: So my father isn’t my father.

Liam: It’s possible

Theo: And that’s why you don’t believe me? you want a b***d sample to prove it’s really me?

Me: That would be very nice, but we don’t have a sample of 7-year-old Theo to compare.

Theo: Do you want me to tell you something? If I’ve come back, it’s for Scott. But also for you Hannah and Stiles too. The sister and best friend willing to spend the evening watching someone to protect the ones they love.

I breathe. I’m tired and I want to go home.

Me: Okay, finish the interrogation for today.

I teleport the three of us to the car but Scott’s motorbike is parked next to it.

Scott: Did you find anything?

Me: Absolutely not.

Scott: This is the bridge where his sister died, right?

Stiles: Yes, I did crash! Can I go now?

Stiles waves and gets into the jeep with Liam. I was about to teleport but Scott stopped me.

Scott: I’m sorry I hurt you.

Me: You don’t have to say that to me, Scott.

Scott: I know, but… I really miss my little sister and I don’t like us fighting.

I smile softly. I don’t like being angry with him anymore.

Scott: Shall we do the restaurant?

Me: At this time of day? Not all restaurants are closed

Scott: There’s one that never closes!

I frown

Scott: A milkshake at Gino’s?

I smile. He remembers!
