I arrive in Allison’s room and she looks at me with a huge smile.

Allison: I’m finally getting out of this hospital!

She shrieks with joy and I laugh along with her. I’m almost as happy as the day she woke up.

Flashback

Lydia: It’s been a long time…

Me: Give her time to wake up!

Lydia: She’s been asleep for almost two months, so she’s not allowed to be lazy when she wakes up!

I laugh and squeeze her hand. I know deep down she’s worried about Allison, but she’s hiding it. The doctor comes back and we get up quickly

Doctor: She’s awake.

We smile before running over to her. She’s sitting up in bed, still as beautiful as ever, even though she’s wearing that horrible hospital gown, and she’s looking at us, smiling.

Allison: How long are you going to watch me before you come and give me a cuddle?

We look at each other before running like little girls to hug her. I’ve missed her so much that tears of joy are streaming down my cheeks. I notice that my two best friends are just as emotional as I am, so we hug and laugh.

Later on

The three of us play a game of cards and chat.

Me: I got into Stanford by the way!

That’s right! Thanks to the classes Lydia gave me in the evenings, I raised my grade point average a lot and my gaps in history completely disappeared, so Stanford accepted me!

Allison: That’s great! The three of us will be in the same area! Can you imagine if we lived as flatmates?

Lydia: Parties every night!

Allison: Hannah snapping her fingers to clear up the mess!

Me: The heart attacks I’d cause by dressing up as a demon and teleporting into your room at midnight!

We take a long look at each other

Allison: Maybe it’s not such a good idea for us to live together after all!

Lydia: Yeah, I admit it.

The three of us laugh and then I look at the card game.

Me: Whose turn is it to play cards?

Allison: I don’t know

Lydia: Me neither.

Me: Let’s stop playing then!

Lydia: And I’m going to get some coffee. Do you want one, Hannah?

Allison: What about me?

Me: You’ve just come out of a coma, darling, caffeine isn’t good for you.

She huffs and puffs and makes a dejected face and Lydia goes off to get some coffee, laughing, and I take advantage of the fact that we’re both there to talk about something really important.

Me: Do you remember the night of the accident?

She seems to be searching her memory, then looks at me with sadness in her eyes.

Allison: Just bits and pieces. I remember that someone cut my stomach in half but his face … I can’t remember. Calling you for help and you helping me… That you teleported me to Scott, that he carried me to the hospital and then… I don’t know. I’m sorry, Hannah.

I put my head down. I would have tried.

Me: It’s okay, Alli… It’s not your fault…

Nobody talks any more and Lydia comes back with two coffees and a hot chocolate.

Lydia: I’m gone five minutes and you’re already crying! I can’t believe it!

I can’t help smiling and neither can Allison. Lydia comes back next to us and we drink our drinks, chatting as before.

Back to the present

I help Allison carry her suitcase over to Stiles.

Stiles: It’s great to see you looking so well Alli, shall we go?

We’re both smiling

Allison: Let’s get out of this miserable place!

We walk towards the exit and Stiles puts his arm around my waist, and I smile and follow suit.

Allison: On the other hand, I didn’t miss you making love to me in public, reminding me that I’m still single!

I laugh

Me: Sorry!

She laughs back and I put my lips to Stiles’ and smile. Let’s go to the graffiti terminal now that the pack is complete!
