Sky's Rejection -
Sky’s Rejection Chapter 69
(Dimitri’s POV)
“Let’s go, my grumpy pants. Time for the big bad wolf’s meeting.” Sky giggled as she pulled me out of the room. I allowed her to drag me with her.
‘Are you going to let our little mate talk to us like that?’ Demon asked, annoyed I hadn’t given Sky a punishment for the way she spoke. Just wait Demon, I thought back. Making him grumble as he impatiently waited to see what I was up to. Sometimes I wonder why he didn’t just read my mind to see what I was planning instead of pacing around in my mind like a lost pup.
‘Well, that question is easy. I love the suspense of every event.’ Demon said in a conceded way. Of course, he would. I love this wolf of mine but sometimes he was a little extra.
“Di, are you lost in thought? We are here.” Sky whispered as she leaned into my body. I pulled her closer, lowering my mouth to her ear.
‘Next time you tease me, my love. I will have you strapped in bed for a week. Do I make myself clear?” I whispered, right after nipping her ear in warning. The shiver that ran through her body was satisfying enough for me.
“Yes, Dimitri.” Sky replied breathlessly as she squealed from my sudden threat. Her eyes turned wide before running into the conference room. I followed behind her, as if nothing happened. Demon chuckled in my head, enjoying how flustered we got our mate.
As I took the seat at the head of my table, I looked around before motioning Sky over with my finger. She blushed, trying to hide her face as she slowly crept towards me. As soon as she was in arms reach, I pulled her down into my lap. I loved having her close to me, I still couldn’t believe she was awake.
‘Alpha, I really need to examine your mate and pup.’ The doctor mind linked me, making me sigh from being reminded of the state she was previously in.
‘You will be able to as soon as this meeting is over.’ I mind linked back in annoyance.
‘Yes Alpha.’ The doctor replied before I cut the connection off.
“Dimitri, behave yourself.” Sky screeched while smacking my chest. I chuckled in amusement. She stood from my lap, pulling a chair up next to me. We sat side by side at the head of the table, that would have to be good enough for me. I pulled her hand into my lap as I looked at everyone seated around the table staring at us. They act as if they have never seen a mated couple before. I control myself more than other wolves would.
“I would like to start off by thanking every single one of you for coming in such short notice. First, I shall begin with letting you all know, as you can see, Sky has awoken. The doctor still needs to evaluate her but as she is the Luna she wanted to be here for the pack’s sake.” I said, beginning the meeting. I proceeded to rub circles on Sky’s palm, feeling her relax by my side.
“I would love to speak in private with Queen Sky after this meeting,” Elder Sander’s said, or should I say he demanded. His tone left no other answer valid. I nodded curtly at the strange man. He was a vampire, second head of the counsel. What does he want with our mate?
‘I don’t trust him.’ Demon growled in warning. I agree with you buddy. We will keep Sky safe no matter what, even if that means going against the counsel. Ty nodded towards me, as if he read my mind.
“I don’t feel as if Sky should be meeting with you Sander. You better watch your words from now on.” Ty growled in warning as he moved his seat closer to Sky. He looked ready for a fight, and it started to make me wonder how a guy who was hated so much could be on the counsel.
“Silence. Sander, you will do no such thing without my permission. As that is being said, Ty do not talk out of terms to the elders.” Elder Walsh said as he glared at both men. Ty tensed, as if he was ready to jump out of his seat and begin throwing fists. Did Ty just have a problem with everyone?
Sky reached over, placing her hand on Ty’s arm, his eyes snapped at hers. Within minutes he was calm, as Sky leaned back in her seat next to me. Did they just communicate? How do they have a connection this strong? I am not sure I will ever understand it.
“Shall we proceed boys?” Sky taunted. You wouldn’t think she was down in a comatose state just this morning and now here she is taunting the strongest and eldest of our kind. “King Dimitri and I have called this meeting because of the unnatural events that have occurred recently. There is a… Let me rephrase that. I was kidnapped by the vampire King. During my stay there the vampire King forced his own death, as of some of his loyal subjects. As I returned, we found out I am carrying the future ruler of the wolf Kingdom. Though I was also injected with vampire venom. Since my stay at home, I have recently been ambushed by a group of twenty – one rogues. These rogues were not a normal attack. It was a group made up of wolves, vampires and witches. They seemed to be after me, all and all they seemed to think I would be able to stop their leader, one who believes only evil shall exist.”
“This attack happened two weeks ago. She had more venom swirling around her body from this second attack. They have not tried to come back since. We still have no idea how they made it on my lands because none of my boarders were triggered.” I said, trying to add clarity to some of the things Sky said.
“Two weeks?” Sky said in shock, before I could say anything Ty grabbed her hand making Sky nod her head as she instantly calmed down.
“Boys? Who does this little nobody think she is? Interesting.” Elder Sander said slowly, as he stared at Sky as if she was an alien in this world. Like she didn’t fit in the way he would like. I didn’t like the way he spoke to her.
“I told you to watch your mouth, Sander.” Ty growled through gritted teeth, pushing the chair over from the force of him standing. What is up with these two?
“Ty and Sander, I will remove you from this room if you both continue. I expected more from you Ty.” Elder Walsh bellowed in a stern voice. He seemed he was going to take no nonsense from these two. Maybe they always bickered. Was this a common occurrence that the counsel had to deal with?
‘Let’s just lean back and watch the show.’ Demon snickered as I felt him lean forward, feeding off this drama revealing around us.
“How dare you always defend this little… little… dog.” Elder Sander snarled in anger, as he pouted in his seat. Demon growled at the direct insult to our kind, as I swallowed it the best I could. That was our people, he was bashing and as King it was hard to bite my tongue.
“Sander, I am warning you.” Elder Walsh commented in annoyance, I could see the bickering taking a toll on him. He seemed to be the calm in this storm of chaos.
“Could we discuss how this young lady overcame vampire venom? Not once but twice.” Doctor Lilian stated as she watched Sky in amazement. All these people look at her as if she is a science project. I could feel Demon becoming agitated. To him, it felt as if our mate was being threatened in more ways than one.
“Yes, please tell us. Only vampires can overcome venom.” Elder Sander said in amusement. It feels as if there is something he knows that we don’t.
“Do not question our Queen.” Ty gritted at Sander. The way his fist clenched and unclenched; I knew the slightest words would bring his wrath. He was extremely protective of Sky, which I was thankful for.
“That is, enough. I will get rid of you, once and for all.” Sander said as he glared at Ty. All of a sudden both men were standing, arm length apart as both men tried to rip the other’s throat out. In the blink of an eye, they disappeared. What the hell just happened?
I felt Sky panicking, as she looked all around her. “Where is Ty?”
“Somewhere safe and where neither of them could bother our conversation anymore.” Elder Walsh said happily. He relaxed in his seat, soaking in the quietness.
“BRING HIM BACK.” Sky demanded as a red glow started surrounding her. Well, there went his peace. I could have told him that would have happened.
“Not until the meeting is over Queen Sky. Also, it would do you good to remember I am your elder.” Elder Walsh said in a warning. I don’t think he realizes who he is talking to.
“My love, please sit down. We will go get Ty after the meeting is over.” I said quietly, as I tried to pull her back into her seat. Tried. Only if it was that easy with this strong headed, she wolf.
‘She is a witch too, a hormonal one at that.’ Demon commented in amusement. He thinks this is funny right now until the elders hurt Sky for threatening them. ‘They wouldn’t dare.’ Demon’s growl echoed around in my head, making it hard to concentrate on what was happening around us.
I watched as Sky’s whole body engulfed in flames. Anything touching her turned to ashes. Everyone gasped in shock, not ever witnessing the strength of a hybrid before. It only took a few minutes, before the flames dispersed and Sky took her seat. Ty was sitting next to her, a clear force field glimmering around him. If it wasn’t for Sky holding my hand, I wouldn’t have been able to spot it. She brought him back. Honestly the elder should be happy she didn’t burn him to ashes during the process.
“Shall we proceed?” I asked, as if nothing had occurred for the last hour.
“Shall we proceed? Are you joking? I had banned Ty and Sander from this meeting and here he sits as if what just occurred never happened. This is not alright King Dimitri.” Elder Walsh screeched; his face beet red in anger. If this was a movie, I would see steam blowing out of his ears by now.
‘Don’t make me bring that imagine in our mind. I think this would be more comical if we did.’ Demon commented, he liked where my thoughts were leading with this pesky Elder. Did he not just witness what Sky did? Does he still think he can take her?
“Would you like to challenge me… ELDER… Walsh. I would not mind being the Queen of wolves, Advisor of Vampires and Head of the counsel.” Sky said mockingly. Elder Walsh stared at her, as if he saw a ghost.
The witch Elder from the counsel cackled, “This little one reminds me of her grandmother. Do you know she was next in line for the Queen of witches? She passed on the offer due to falling in love with a norm as we call them, anything that isn’t a witch. Your mother passed and had no witch gene so she also couldn’t be Queen. You my dear, are the next witch in line. I wonder how it will be dealing with you at these council meetings, seeing as you are the future Queen of witches, Queen of wolves and was it the advisor of vampires? I believe you will make them interesting and seem entertaining as well. Walsh I would watch your place, as I am very certain that she could and would take you down.”
“Why is it I cannot remove Ty from this room? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” Elder Walsh questioned accusations at Sky, as she smirked at him in amusement. She was toying with him now. Great, my mate was toying with an Elder.
The witch laughed in amusement, “What a smart and powerful little hybrid and she isn’t even as old as us. She has an invisible force field around him. Move side to side and you can see a tint of the shimmer.”
“Sky, after this meeting, please allow me to sit in while your doctor examines you. I would love to know how you have fought off the venom.” Doctor Lilian asked kindly, as she stared at Sky. I watched as my mate gave a slight smile with a nod of approval. Though her eye contact never left Elder Walsh.
I wondered what she was thinking. Our pup is due in a week or two and she seems as if she was willing to fight Walsh for his place. Sky, what are you thinking?
